Anil Kapoor is ‘jhootha no 1' says Pahlaj Nihalani, slams him for calling Andaz B-grade film: He was desperate to do it
Filmmaker and former CBFC chairperson Pahlaj Nihalani, who produced the 1994 film Andaz starring Anil Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, and Juhi Chawla, has hit out at Anil for calling the film a B-grade production. In a recent interview with Vickey Lalwani, Pahlaj criticised the actor for making the comment and also accused him of lying about objecting to the controversial song Khada Hai from the film. (Also Read: Pahlaj Nihalani rubbishes Govinda's claim of being offered James Cameron's Avatar: 'Uske dimag ka disc ghum gaya') Pahlaj lashed out at Anil for calling Andaz a B-grade film and said, "I know of this interview. I told him off also once. He called Andaz a B-grade movie. Woh tarasta tha iske liye (He was desperate to do it). Karisma begged me to be in it. People were desperate to work with me at that time, and Anil Kapoor was one of them. He's done so many B-grade movies in his life, how can he say that he did Andaz for money?" When informed that Anil, in an interview, claimed he wasn't informed about the song Khada Hai and even objected to it, Pahlaj said, 'He's jhoota number one. This never happened. He must've heard the song 'Khada Hai Khada Hai' 50 times before we shot it. He'd say, 'This song will make our film a hit.' Only Juhi Chawla had some issues with the song. But Anil Kapoor was crazy about the song and was sure that it would be a superhit. He's spreading lies and defaming me. I've never made a B-grade movie in my life!" Directed by David Dhawan, Andaz was an action-comedy that also featured Kader Khan, Raj Babbar, Shakti Kapoor, Satish Kaushik, Ishrat Ali, and Mahesh Anand. Though the film was a commercial success, the song Khada Hai drew criticism for its double-meaning lyrics. Anil Kapoor is currently awaiting the release of his upcoming film Alpha, which is part of Aditya Chopra's YRF Spy Universe. The film also stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in lead roles. Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha will be the seventh instalment in the spy franchise, following Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, Tiger 3, and the upcoming War 2, which is slated for release on 14 August. Alpha is scheduled to release this Christmas.

Sitaare Zameen Par Movie Review Live Updates: Aamir Khan-starrer's first reviews are out, Salman Khan reveals he wanted to do the film
Sitaare Zameen Par Movie Review, Rating and Release Live Updates: Sitaare Zameen Par serves as a spiritual sequel to the beloved Taare Zameen Par and is officially a remake of the acclaimed 2018 Spanish film Champions. The story centers on Gulshan, a suspended basketball coach played by Aamir Khan, who is sentenced to community service. His task is to coach a team of specially abled players and prepare them for a major tournament. In an interview, Aamir described Gulshan as 'a very rude and politically incorrect character', someone who insults nearly everyone around him. Yet, the film's heart lies in the transformative journey this coach undertakes. Through his interactions with the ten players, some of whom have Down syndrome, autism, Gulshan learns what it truly means to be a good human being. Reflecting on the film's themes, Aamir said that Sitaare Zameen Par advances the inclusivity conversation 'ten steps ahead' of Taare Zameen Par. Unlike its predecessor, which was a serious drama, this new film embraces comedy, using humor as a vehicle to tackle complex social issues. Alongside Aamir, the film features Genelia Deshmukh as Gulshan's love interest. Genelia has shared in multiple interviews that she auditioned several times before landing the role, underscoring the project's demanding casting process. One of the film's standout aspects is the casting of real individuals with special needs as the team's players. Both Aamir and director RS Prasanna were committed to authentic representation, aiming to bring genuine voices and experiences to the screen. Interestingly, Aamir Khan initially declined the project. Following the disappointing box office performance of Laal Singh Chaddha, he had planned a hiatus to focus on family life and intended to only produce the film under his banner, with another actor in the lead. However, the powerful and emotionally resonant script ultimately convinced him to step back in front of the camera. In a deliberate move to prioritize theatrical viewing, Aamir has opted not to sell the film's rights to any major streaming platform before its theatrical run concludes. He has emphasized his desire for audiences to experience the film first on the big screen. Watch | Who's who of Bollywood at Sitaare Zameen Par screening Originally slated for a December release in 2024, Sitaare Zameen Par was delayed to summer 2025 as Aamir remained deeply involved in post-production, refining the film to meet his high standards. Like Taare Zameen Par, the film's music is composed by the renowned trio Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya. The background score is crafted by Ram Sampath, a frequent collaborator with Aamir Khan Productions. Industry trackers report that the film will be screened in over 6,000 shows across India. Ahead of its release, Sitaare Zameen Par faced challenges with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Initially, the board suggested several cuts, which Aamir Khan found unacceptable. Following these concerns, the Revising Committee, chaired by theatre veteran Waman Kendre, reviewed the film. They recommended changes including replacing the terms 'Michael Jackson' with 'Lovebirds' and 'Business Woman' with 'Business Person,' along with adding a quote from Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the opening disclaimer. After these modifications, the CBFC granted Sitaare Zameen Par a U/A (13+) certification.

CBFC Directs Sitaare Zameen Par Makers to Include Quote by Modi Mentioning the Year 2047: Report
Film The suggestion to include Modi's quote is part of the five changes/suggestions to the film which the CBFC has directed the makers to incorporate. Videograb from the trailer of Sitaare Zameen Par. Photo: New Delhi: The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has directed the makers of the Aamir Khan-starrer movie Sitaare Zameen Par to include a quote by Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioning the year 2047 in the opening disclaimer. The suggestion to include Modi's quote is part of the five changes/suggestions to the film which the CBFC has directed the makers to incorporate, reported Hindustan Times. The film was subsequently issued a U/A certification on June 17, which confirms that the modifications were done, with the Prime Minister's quote inserted after the film's opening disclaimer, which has also been changed as per the CBFC's directions. The newspaper reported that it was not immediately clear what the quote is about. The movie, which is set to release on June 20, stars Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh, and tells the story of a basketball coach who teaches the sport to a team of intellectually disabled people as community service after the directions of a court. The other changes in the movie directed by CBFC were the replacement of the term 'business woman' with 'business person'; a 30-second disclaimer at the beginning of the film be replaced with a 26-second voice-over; a visual containing the word 'kamal' (lotus) be removed, along with its appearance in subtitles; and 'Michael Jackson' be replaced with 'Lovebirds' in the subtitles. In recent years, the CBFC has increasingly been suggesting cuts and modifications in movie scenes. In April this year, the CBFC had asked the makers of the film Phule to remove several caste-based terms, after objection from Brahmin outfits, resulting in the postponing of its release. The directive of CBFC included removing terms such as 'Mahar', 'Mang', 'Peshvai', and 'Manu's system of caste', with the censor board terming them as 'sensitive.' Ananth Mahadevan, the director of Phule had told The Wire that he didn't agree with the modifications suggested by the CBFC.
