Keep an eye on fake news on Op Sindoor, police officials told

Eluru: District Superintendent of Police K Pratap Shiva Kishore stressed there should be strict surveillance on false propaganda as part of ongoing Operation Sindoor. He asked officials to keep an eye on movements of unfamiliar individuals.
He conducted the annual inspection of Chintalapudi Police Station on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, he said any suspicious activity on WhatsApp or social media should be monitored, and group admins spreading misinformation should face legal action. He proposed conducting mock drills to educate the public on how to protect themselves during emergencies, increasing awareness and preparedness among citizens.
On this occasion, the Chintalapudi police personnel extended a ceremonial guard of honour to the SP. The SP advised the staff to implement the 'Swachhanda Andhra – Swarnandhra' programmes to ensure cleanliness in and around the police station. He emphasised use of drone surveillance to detect crimes and take immediate action on traffic-related issues. He reviewed all records maintained at the station and provided guidelines to improve administrative practices. He interacted with officers to gain insights into the issues faced by each village within the division. The SP emphasised that prompt resolution of minor local issues by officers would help maintain long-term peace and security.
He suggested strengthening of the surveillance system to eliminate antisocial activities in the region. The SP also suggested conducting awareness programmes on 'Shakti App' in high schools, colleges, and crowded places. Women and girls should be encouraged to use the app, enhancing their sense of safety and trust in law enforcement. Issues raised during the Monday grievance redressal programmes should be addressed promptly to deliver quick justice to complainants. He directed them to put in joint efforts to reduce road accidents through special measures. Traffic rule violators should be identified and acted upon using drone surveillance technology. The public should be educated about the benefits of CCTV cameras. The SP highlighted the importance of installing CCTV in commercial complexes, apartments, roads, and public places for effective investigations.
During the inspection, the SP gave clear directions to the police staff to enhance efforts in law & order maintenance, crime control, and public grievance resolution.
Blood donation camp inaugurated
In addition, the SP inaugurated a Mega Blood Donation Camp in Chintalapudi town, organised with the support of the local police department. The public participated enthusiastically, and the SP commended the donors for their noble contribution. 'Among all donations, blood donation is the greatest gift. It gives new life to those in danger. Everyone should come forward to donate blood. Patients with thalassemia require regular transfusions, and your donated blood could be the reason they survive. Let us all promote this life-saving act,' he appealed.
The programme was attended by Jangareddygudem DSP U Ravichandra, Chintalapudi Inspector Ch Rajasekhar, SI Kutumba Rao, along with other officers and police staff.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval are likely to travel to China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meetings. Doval had travelled to Beijing in December last year when India and China agreed on a set of 'six consensus' including resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, trans-border river cooperation and Nathula border trade. This was announced by the two sides following talks in Beijing between NSA Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi who are also the Special Representatives (SRs). That was the first meeting of the SRs since frictions emerged in the Western Sector of the India-China border areas in 2020. The two sides have monitored the implementation of the disengagement agreement of October 2024, resulting in patrolling and grazing in the border areas. The meeting of the Special Representatives had taken place less than two months after a border patrolling arrangement was announced on October 21 which was followed by a meeting between PM Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia on October 23. Now, with Rajnath Singh's first visit and NSA Doval's second visit to China since the disengagement process was completed, the focus will be on the de-escalation and de-induction of troops from both sides, sources said. The two sides have taken some steps including the resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, which has just started, and are also in talks about resumption of direct flights. India and China are also looking at easing visa curbs for Chinese nationals and sharing data on transnational rivers, like the Brahmaputra. Plea in HC against Rayagada collector's 2-month entry ban against Patkar, 24 others

Cuttack: Orissa high court on Friday began hearing a petition challenging an order issued by the Rayagada collector on June 4, which prohibits activist Medha Patkar and 24 others from entering or staying in the district for two months. The ban was imposed ahead of a public meeting scheduled for June 5 at Hatpada field in Sunger under Kashipur block, where Patkar and other activists were expected to protest against proposed bauxite mining in the Sijimali hills. Citing law and order concerns, collector Parul Patwari acted on a report from the SP stating that the presence of the group might disturb public peace and hinder administrative functioning. The matter reached the HC through a petition filed by Dr Randall Sequeira, a Bhawanipatna-based medical practitioner who was among those barred. Sequeira contended that the order severely hampers his ability to provide essential medical services to tribal communities in Rayagada and Kalahandi, where he has been offering free healthcare for years. UP: Youth accused of kidnapping minor attempts suicide after questioning by cops

A case of kidnapping was registered against an unidentified accused based on a complaint filed by the girl's father, the SP said. Superintendent of Police Omvir Singh told PTI that a case of kidnapping involving a 15-year-old Hindu girl was reported on Friday. Ballia (UP), Jun 22 (PTI) A 19-year-old youth accused of abducting a minor girl attempted suicide at a police station in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia after being interrogated there, police said on Sunday. On Saturday, the girl arrived at the police station with her mother and told the name of a 19-year-old Muslim youth, alleging that he had lured and taken her away, Singh said. The youth was called to the police station for questioning on Sunday. After interrogation, he attempted to commit suicide by slitting his throat with a sharp object at the station premises, the SP said. Police personnel immediately admitted him to the district hospital for treatment, he said. Additional Superintendent of Police Kripa Shankar said an investigation into the incident has been ordered, and the case has been assigned to Deputy Superintendent of Police Sadar Mohammad Usman.
