Raids expose bars and pubs in Bengaluru using inappropriately dressed women, 19 establishments booked
In a coordinated crackdown, the Bengaluru City Police carried out surprise inspections across several bars and restaurants in the city's West Zone, uncovering a series of serious violations ranging from illegal employment practices to breaches of health and excise norms. The raids were launched following a tip-off received by the City Police Commissioner, who was alerted about suspicious activities being carried out at multiple commercial establishments. Acting on the information, 11 special police teams were mobilized to conduct checks in areas falling under the Upparpet, Cottonpet, Kalasipalya, Cubbon Park, and Ashoknagar police station limits. During the operation, 19 establishments were found flouting various rules. One of the most alarming violations involved the illegal employment of women staff, who were allegedly dressed provocatively and engaging with customers inappropriately. Many of these places lacked designated female security personnel, and several kitchens were found in unhygienic conditions.

Authorities also flagged other infractions, including the absence of smoking zones, operation beyond licensed hours, and non-compliance with COTPA regulations (Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act). Customers violating tobacco laws were fined on the spot, officials said.
Police confirmed that the scope of violations extended beyond policing issues and included breaches related to health and excise regulations. Reports have been forwarded to the respective departments for further investigation and action. Officials emphasized that continued surveillance of such establishments will be undertaken, and repeat offenders risk license cancellation.
In an appeal to the public, Bengaluru Police urged citizens to report any such illegal activities or inconveniences through Namma 112. The department assured that the identity of informants would be protected. (With agency inputs)

Samrat Chaudhary highlighted the iconic dialogue, 'mera baap chor hai' (my father is thief) is written in the hands of Amitabh Bachchan. He said Tejashwi Yadav will also have to write the same phrase on his hands. 'Fodder was stolen in Bihar. There is a film of Amitabh Bachchan in which 'mera baap chor hai' is written on his hand. Former Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav was found guilty of illegal withdrawals of Rs 139.35 crore from the Doranda treasury by a special CBI court in Jharkhand's Ranchi. The 900-crore fodder scam cases first cropped up in 1996 and charge-sheet was filed against Lalu Yadav by CBI in 1997. The trial began in 2002 in the special CBI court at Ranchi. In 2013, he was convicted in the 1st fodder scam case and sentenced to 5 years imprisonment along with Rs 25 lakh fine. In 2017, the CBI court had convicted Lalu Yadav and 15 others and the current one is for the 2nd of six fodder scam cases. The 2nd case pertains to embezzling of about Rs 89 lakh from the Deoghar Treasury in the 1991-94 period. Significantly, Lalu Yadav and 7 others were sentenced with 3.5 years imprisonment along with a fine of 5 lakhs each. Earlier, Bihar Deputy CMs Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha took part in the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations in Patna. Vijay Sinha hailed Yoga and said that it has been accepted by 176 countries of the world. Sinha stated that Yoga makes the body 'pure' and 'healthy' and connects with humanity. Attacking RJD, Vijay Sinha said that people like them are trying to create an atmosphere to make Bihar 'unhealthy' and mentioned that such people are 'mentally ill'. 'Today, more than 176 countries have accepted this yoga. This yoga makes the body pure and healthy, connects humanity. Yoga always transmits positive energy. Those who are mentally ill can also become healthy through yoga, demonic tendencies can be eliminated... The event took place against the scenic backdrop of the Visakhapatnam coastline, with Indian Navy ships stationed near the shore, adding to the grandeur of the celebrations. Karnataka man kills wife for excessive watching of Instagram reels: Report
In a shocking case from Karnataka's Udupi district, a 27-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband following a quarrel over her watching Instagram reels, reported The Hindu. The incident took place on Thursday night under the Shankaranarayana police limits, and has once again brought attention to the dark side of digital obsession and domestic discord. His wife, Rekha, was employed as an attendant at a fuel station in Shankaranarayana. Investigations revealed that the couple frequently argued over Rekha's habit of watching reels on her mobile phone, a matter serious enough to have earlier drawn police intervention. Authorities had previously taken an undertaking from the couple after being alerted to their domestic disputes. On the night of the murder, Poojary reportedly returned home late and lost his temper upon finding Rekha once again watching reels. The argument quickly escalated, and in a fit of rage, he allegedly attacked her with a machete, fatally striking her on the neck. '7 year jail term and…' Police arrested Poojary soon after the incident and have registered a case of murder. In a similar incident reported earlier from PG Palya in Chamarajanagar district, a 33-year-old man named Kumar died by suicide, allegedly unable to cope with his wife's excessive engagement with Instagram reels. Kumar's family claimed that he had been facing emotional distress due to frequent taunts from friends about videos his wife had uploaded online. Despite expressing his discomfort and objections, his wife reportedly continued to make and post reels, leading to frequent arguments between the couple. When the tension reportedly reached a breaking point, Kumar took the extreme step and was found hanging from a tree. Police said that no suicide note was found, but a preliminary inquiry pointed to social media as a contributing factor in the domestic dispute.
