Country star Kameron Marlowe to perform at NYS Fair

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Country star and singer of the hit 'Strangers,' will be in Syracuse this summer for the New York State Fair.
Kameron Marlowe is scheduled to play at Chevy Court on Saturday, Aug. 23, at 6 p.m.
'His self-written viral hit 'Giving You Up,' born from personal heartache, catapulted him into the spotlight before striking a deal with Sony Music Nashville,' said the Fair.
Some of his other songs include, 'Here Lies the Fool,' 'Giving You Up,' 'Girl On Fire,' and more.
'Whether you're looking for star power or breakout artists like Kameron Marlowe, we provide fairgoers with countless opportunities to create lasting memories, hear their favorites, and see the next generation of stars all at once,' said Fair Director Julie LaFave.
The Fair starts Wednesday, Aug. 20, and runs through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1. All concerts are included in the price of admission.

'I just love that Lauren and I are two women who have a mainstream pop presence doing a love song for the LGBT community,' Halsey said at the time. 'It's rare to see it from a girl's perspective.' The About-Face founder, who's non-binary and uses both she/her and they/them pronouns, also revealed that 'Strangers' was the first song in which she openly used female pronouns. 'It is the first song that I ever wrote where I openly used female pronouns and I have songs that are about women that I have been with but I was 19 and I tried to keep [my debut album] Badlands gender neutral,' she said. She continued, 'I was thinking to myself, 'If I want this song to be believable, it needs to be real.' So I'm not going to put a girl on this song to sing who's straight. I'm just not going to do it. So I reached out to Lauren, she came in and cut the vocal and it sounds awesome.' We can fully confirm it still holds up all these years later.

JAMS Funk Fest to return to NYS Fair

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A fan favorite plans to return. JAMS Funk Fest 2025 will have a lineup of entertainment at Chevy Court Stage on Saturday, August 30. Performances will kick off at noon and last until 9:30 p.m. According to the Fair, Youth group CJack Run Presents will be the first to perform, followed by Stevie Wolf Blues Express (Mississippi Blues), UAD (Temptations-style Stepping/singing group), The Music of Enchantment featuring former recording member, David Banks (National Recording Artist Stepping/singing group), and Blacklites (Old School Funk and R&B). Rose Royce will close the day with their signature Funk and R&B sound during an 8:15 p.m. performance at Chevy Court. 'It's The Fair's 11th year of partnering with JAMS, and we're so excited to present another successful Funk Fest so fairgoers can enjoy the work of these legendary musicians,' said Director Julie LaFave. The JAMS acronym stands for Joined Artists, Musicians, and Singers. It is a collaboration of creatives from Syracuse. The State Fair of West Virginia in the 1950s

FAIRLEA, WV (WVNS) — A sense of normalcy returned to the State Fair of West Virginia in the 1950s thanks to a time of prosperity after the end of the Second World War. Luckily for those that made the Fair a family event, the event went on annually in its fourth decade, thanks to the period of peace after the conclusion of World War II. The 1950s brought with it the typical State Fair staples: animals, connection, and entertainment. Animals at the event were always a big deal and were heavily advertised in newspapers, magazines, and other means. This was especially true for cattle. The State Fair of West Virginia in the 1940s Also as popular as ever were the horses. The equine events have always been a draw for the crowds, from jousting tournaments, horse shows, and harness racing. Interestingly, jousting tournaments were brought to the Fair in 1953 and 1954, with members from the well-known Tuckwiller family taking part in the festivities. Fashion of the Fair: style trends throughout the last century at the State Fair of West Virginia The history section on the State Fair of West Virginia's website stated that 1956 brought another change to the event, as the fairgrounds expanded when the 'Simons Property' was bought, along with land at the south end of the racetrack. The 1950s also brought further additions due to a motion that was passed for the building of a sheep pavilion, to change the rabbit show area to a facility for the pigs, and to create a new rabbit house. Additions and changes were also made to the industrial building in 1958, according to the Fair's website. According to photos from the Greenbrier Historical Society, in 1957, a horse, owned by David and Grace Anne Tuckwiller, broke the track record at the fair during a harness race. Along with the animals, some fairgoers made traditions and even returned to remake memories of their previous times at the Fair. The State Fair of West Virginia not only gives fairgoers a chance to experience fun events and activities, it gives them a chance to make memories that could last a lifetime.
