Domestic Violence Survivor Support

The knowledge that our personal data and financial information are protected brings invaluable peace of mind, and we aim to provide that sense of confidence to individuals across the globe, including members of our most vulnerable communities.
That's why we work with organizations like the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV), the leading voice in the United States for domestic violence survivors and their advocates. Together, we've joined the fight against technology abuse, a growing part of domestic violence that often includes online stalking, identity theft or financial abuse.
Through product donations and volunteer initiatives, we've helped raise awareness of tech-facilitated abuse, created tools that make survivors' lives online safer and more private, and continued to support our nonprofit partners serving these communities on the ground.
Providing Survivors with Tools to Help Stay Cyber Safe
In 2024, we launched a targeted donation program through our partnership with TechSoup to provide more than 3,700 Norton product licenses to domestic violence survivors across the U.S. TechSoup helps facilitate the donations to the Safe Shelter Collaborative, which in turn delivers the products to survivors through its network of member organizations.
The donated products include Norton 360 Deluxe, which can prevent activity or location tracking, information theft, installation of malicious programs and uninvited changes to devices, and Norton Secure VPN, which protects the user's online privacy by hiding the computer's address from websites visited from any device.
NNEDV, which represents the 56 U.S. state and territorial domestic violence coalitions, who in turn represent more than 2,000 local programs and the millions of survivors they serve annually, also collaborates on the donation program.
Coming Together to Support Survivors
Gen team members from across the company have volunteered their time and effort in service of survivors through a series of recent events. In April, our Head of Corporate Responsibility and our Director of AI & Innovation spoke alongside NNEDV representatives on a virtual panel about how to support domestic violence survivors in the digital age.
The conversation covered the threats that survivors face online, how to identify tech-facilitated abuse when it happens and how advocates can help survivors increase their digital privacy. The event also shone a spotlight on some of the digital resources we've co-created with NNEDV, such as the Financial Abuse and Technology Guide and the Securing Devices and Accounts Guide. These tools are in addition to our $100,000 annual grant to NNEDV, supporting the organization's Safety Net technology abuse response initiative as well as its Economic Justice program.
Subsequently, Gen team members at every one of our U.S. locations, including our new MoneyLion offices in New York and New Jersey, as well as our remote U.S. employees, participated in events facilitated by Visit.org that benefited domestic violence survivors as part of our 2025 Global Volunteer Week. Together, Gen volunteers assembled nearly 500 backpacks for survivors that included food, hygiene items and physical copies of the resources we developed with NNEDV to help survivors stay safe online. This meaningful partnership with NNEDV helped enhance the impact of the events and further spread the word about the organization's critical work.
'I grew up in and used to work in shelters around New York, so I know how much this means,' said one volunteer. 'We wrote messages for survivors and packed kits with everyday essentials... And it was great to be able to do good alongside coworkers.'
These grants were awarded from the Gen Foundation, a corporate advised fund of Silicon Valley Community Foundation.

Frazer Harrison By choosing a range of warm brown, striking blonde, and coppery brown, for instance, Miley Cyrus has struck a balance between natural and on-trend. Despite its popularity online, the eccentric hairstyle hasn't hit the mainstream the same way other recent hair color trends like 'recession hair,' or its more positively packaged term, 'old money blonde,' have just yet. Chances are, you may spot one or two Zoomers sporting tri-color tresses, but due to its vibrant colors and relatively limited wearability, calico hair may be another one of Gen-Z's short-lived micro-trends. Advertisement 5 Hairstylists find that the look is easiest to achieve on long hair, but short-haired Zoomers have taken to social media to show off their own variations on the typical look. Between sectioning hair off, mixing three different dye colors and washing each part separately, the steps to achieving calico hair in the salon and at home are lengthy and, for many, difficult. To make matters more complicated, the initial coloring process isn't even half the battle, experts say. It's the upkeep that stops Zoomers from continuing to flaunt calico hair. 'The calico trend is very high-maintenance. Due to the intricate coloring process, it's best to preserve the color for as long as possible,' advised Ryan Dickie, a colorist at IGK Salon Miami, in an interview with RealSimple. Advertisement Hairstylists and calico cut-sporting Zoomers alike advise that washing your dyed hair as rarely as possible will prevent different colored dyed sections from bleeding onto each other, fading colors and dry, frizzy hair. According to experts, the temperature at which you rinse your hair also counts. 'When exposed to warm or hot water, the [hair] cuticle becomes more pliable and may lift slightly,' which causes color fading, NYC-based dermatologist Ellen Marmur told Allure. On the other hand, 'cold water exposure induces cuticle contraction. The cuticle cells lay flatter against the hair shaft, creating a smoother surface,' resulting in brighter, shinier and more hydrated hair. If there wasn't already ample proof that fashion and beauty trends are cyclical, let this latest hair craze serve as further corroboration. Back in the early 2000s, celebrity style icons like Beyoncé and Kelly Clarkson were sporting an early version of calico hair: the chunky highlight. 5 Kelly Clarkson, Lindsay Lohan, the Olsen twins, and Christina Aguilera were likely all hairspiration for the teens of the 2000s. Of course, the unconventional, eye-catching hairstyle may make millennials, and really anyone else who lived through the early 2000s, cringe, but take comfort in knowing that in 20 years, Gen Z will be living through the same thing — that's the beauty of the trend cycle.

Move Over Hims & Hers Health: This Insurance Business Could Be the Next Monster Healthcare Stock (Hint: It's Not UnitedHealth)

Telemedicine company Hims & Hers Health has been one of the hottest healthcare stocks in recent memory. Changes at UnitedHealth Group have attracted the attention of investors, but a smaller player called Oscar Health is the one to pay attention to. Oscar Health's business model and approach are similar to Hims & Hers, and it seeks to disrupt legacy insurers. 10 stocks we like better than Oscar Health › When it comes to healthcare stocks, many investors pay attention to the usual suspects: Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk, CVS Health, or Johnson & Johnson. These companies have built up enormous brand equity thanks to blockbuster drugs and widely recognized pharmacy management services. With the exception of CVS, whose shares have risen 46% so far this year, none of the other companies have generated robust stock price returns so far in 2025. Lilly, Novo, and Johnson & Johnson are seeing share price pressure over concerns that President Donald Trump's administrative actions could impact the pharmaceutical industry -- particularly as it relates to tariffs and medication pricing. One healthcare player that is (so far) outmaneuvering investor trepidation throughout 2025 is telemedicine company (NYSE: HIMS). Its share price is up 138% in 2025 (as of June 17). While buying into Hims and Hers stock to follow the momentum is tempting, I think a different, dirt cheap health insurance stock is positioned for a breakout akin to Hims & Hers Health. And no, I'm not talking about the beaten-down UnitedHealth Group. Rather, I think Oscar Health (NYSE: OSCR) could be the next big multibagger in healthcare stocks. Curious? Read on to learn more about Oscar Health and why I'm so bullish on the stock. When it comes to accessing patient care, consumers have a couple of options. On one hand, they can take time to go to brick-and-mortar retailers like CVS to fulfill a prescription or take the time to schedule an appointment and wait in a busy doctor's office. Alternatively, they can streamline their efforts by using Hims & Hers telemedicine services to gain back some time (and possibly some money) while still accessing necessary health services and medications. This technology-first approach has served Hims well, particularly as it relates to acquiring customers across younger demographics such as Millennials and Gen-Z. This approach is by design as younger patients tend to be more receptive to the idea of accessing critical information (i.e., patient care) online as opposed to the traditional, time-consuming methods that include finding a doctor in your network, making an appointment, and waiting. Oscar is using a similar approach to transform access to health insurance. The company hopes to capture a strategic lead over competitors with a tech-first digital platform. While some legacy insurers have also invested in technology infrastructure, they did so by retrofitting archaic and antiquated manual processes into a technology platform that likely doesn't fit well with their original business models. Another important item to note is that Hims & Hers does not offer as comprehensive a service as going to a traditional doctor. In other words, Hims & Hers currently focuses on a handful of treatments across specific segments like mental health, sexual health, and weight management. Likewise, Oscar has a niche focus on Affordable Care Act (ACA) members and small employers that aren't covered by legacy health insurance providers. While Oscar's upside might appear limited given its niche focus, a look at its metrics suggests it still has some strong growth prospects. Despite an intense competitive landscape in the health insurance market, Oscar has identified pockets that it can dominate, as evidenced by the steepening slope of the revenue line over the last five years, coupled with rising cash flow and liquidity. The biggest risk surrounding Oscar right now has to do with potential changes in the regulatory landscape as it pertains to the ACA. While policy changes could put some pressure on Oscar's core business, the company is working to diversify its revenue stream by expanding into related markets -- just as Hims & Hers has done in recent years by getting into the weight management space, competing with the likes of Lilly and Novo. Data that Oscar Health recently provided to investors shows that its primary market of traditional ACA members totals roughly 21 million. However, by expanding into individual coverage health reimbursement arrangements (ICHRAs) with small and medium-sized businesses (SMB), Oscar could open up its total customer pool to 75 million -- growing its total addressable market (TAM) from $160 billion today to $720 billion. This expansion effort should help keep the company's growth prospects on track. Given that Oscar Health's modest market capitalization of just $4 billion is roughly in line with its cash balance, it would seem that Wall Street isn't placing much value on the company's insurance business. I suspect the market may be pricing in the potential for significant downside from changes to the ACA. It may also have some skepticism about the company's pursuit of ICHRAs with small businesses. This suggests another parallel between what Oscar is trying to achieve and what Hims was building during its early days. At the start, Hims faced some doubts over customer acquisition, subscriber retention, and its ability to truly compete with larger, legacy patient care providers. But look at Hims & Hers' share price gains now. Some of those gains are rooted in a turning-of-the-page bullish narrative from some pockets of the investment community. To be clear, there are potential near-term headwinds at Oscar, but I find the long-term vision is compelling. I'm cautiously optimistic that the company has what it takes to build, grow, and sustain a diversified healthcare platform -- just as Hims & Hers has done -- and that shares will see a sharp rise sooner than some may be anticipating. These young women are doing their part to avoid a baby bust

America's fertility rate is collapsing. But some young women are ready to do their part to avoid a baby bust. The average American woman currently in her peak fertility years (ages 15–49) will have 1.7 children in her lifetime, well below the replacement rate of 2.1. And more Zoomers and Millennials are choosing to forgo kids, citing the financial cost, climate change and career, among other reasons, according to polling. It's a trend that has demographers concerned about the economic and societal repercussions of a shrinking and aging population — a crisis currently crippling Japan and South Korea. Edward Linsmier for NY Post For Ashley Hartig, the decision to be a young and prolific mom meant resisting 'girl boss' messaging. 'I didn't feel the need to focus on a career. I just had the babies and figured it all out as I went,' Hartig, 29, told The Post. Advertisement She and her husband, Derek, an entrepreneur in the transportation industry, live in Sarasota, Florida, with their 8-year-old son, 5-year-old daughter and 15-month-old son — and they're planning a possible fourth in the next year to give their youngest a sibling near his age. 'I've found a lot more joy because of my children,' she said. 'I literally romanticize everything that happens every single day because everything feels so special when you're sharing it with your own kids.' 11 Ashley and husband Derek share their 8-year-old son, 5-year-old daughter and 15-month-old son. Edward Linsmier for NY Post But starting a family so early with her husband, Derek, wasn't easy. They struggled for a couple years with multiple career changes and lack of home ownership. She says a lot of other young women are attracted to the stay-at-home lifestyle — and often reach out to her on social media to say so — but it's so often out of reach in today's economy. Advertisement 'I think the biggest barrier is definitely financial,' Hartig said. 'A lot of people want to be stay-at-home moms, and that's almost impossible if your husband doesn't have a super secure, high-paying job.' A 2024 Pew survey found that, among those under 50 who say they're unlikely to have kids, 36% cited the affordability of raising a child as the reason why. 11 Hartig says people have 'a lot of opinions' about her decision to have three children in her twenties. Edward Linsmier for NY Post The number one reason, however, was 'they just don't want to' (57%), followed by wanting to focus on other things (44%), concerns about the state of the world (38%), concerns about the environment (26%), lack of the right partner (24%), and simply not liking children (20%). Advertisement Lillian, a 21-year-old who wants 10 kids one day, admits her desire to be a mother is unusual in her generation, which has fallen victim to 'anti-natalist' messaging. 'Gen Z people don't even want to be alive,' said Lillian, who works for an education non-profit and splits her time between Boston. 'Everything feels really meaningless, the economic situation isn't super great, plus there's AI, life just doesn't have meaning, we don't know what the future looks like. People are very depressed, and they are just, like, anti-life.' 11 Lillian, 21, would like to have 10 children one day. Courtesy of Lillian Hartig even hears it from peers who are critical of her choices: 'People have a lot of opinions, saying you're overpopulating the Earth, or they would never want that life, but family is all that really matters in the end, and it's really too bad for them.' Lillian doesn't have a partner yet, but she knows she'd like to have a small army of children. Her main motivation is 'cultural replication.' 'There are things that I like in the world, that I want to see more of in the world, and raising kids who have those beliefs is like a vote for what kind of future you want,' explained the recent Harvard grad, who asked to withhold her last name for professional reasons. 11 Elon Musk, the father of 13 children, is reportedly a pronatalist. Lillian identifies with the pronatalist movement — a growing group, reportedly including father-of-13 Elon Musk, who believe plummeting birth rates threatens society both culturally and economically — but she says the movement doesn't dictate her life choices. 'I'm more motivated by the idea that the kids that I have will have a shot at helping the world than I am by the birth rate going down and feeling obligated to breed more,' she said. 11 Emma Waters researches pro-family policies at the Heritage Foundation. 'Then there's a very clear religious realm of Catholic and Protestant, Jewish and others, where there's a very clear, faith-based, motivation here.' I always have a team. I have someone that I could rely on at any moment.' The 28-year-old Connecticut resident just gave birth to a son a week and a half ago and is also the mom of a 2-year-old daughter. She and her husband Yona, a 30-year-old engineer, plan, 'God willing,' to add another three children to their family. 'I really would love to have my kids feel at school, at home, in life, wherever they are, that they're part of this team and unit, and they're not fighting their battles by themselves,' said Green, who is planning to return to school to become a physician's assistant. 11 Green, who has two children today, would like to have five kids ultimately. Courtesy of Naomi Green Advertisement There is a growing difference between the number of kids that a woman wants, and the number she actually has, dubbed the 'fertility gap.' According to SMU's Bridwell Institute for Economic Freedom, the average American woman says she would be happiest with 2.5 children — yet she will most likely only have 1.7. In her work at the Heritage Foundation, Waters, a 27-year-old mother of two looking to form a 'large family' herself, researches pro-family policies to help close this gap. She and her colleagues have honed in on reforming welfare to remove marriage penalties, changing state and federal tax codes to benefit parents and supporting couples struggling with infertility. 11 'Because I live in the city, people think having a lot of kids is crazy,' said Madison Rae, who lives in Tribeca with her three young kids. 11 Rae says being an only child made her want to have a larger family. It might be even harder to change perception. Madison Rae, a Manhattan mom of three who runs the clothing company Tribeca Mom's Club, said she's been the subject of judgement for having a larger family. 'Because I live in the city, people think having a lot of kids is crazy,' she said. 'It's mainly people who don't live in the city, who make comments about the space or the quality of life.' Meanwhile, she said, having big families has become a 'trend' in her posh Tribeca neighborhood. 11 Rae says people stop her in the street to ask about having three kids in New York City. 'So many people I know personally are all of a sudden having a third kid,' the 35-year-old said. 'I just feel like it wasn't a thing a couple of years ago.' Rae, who is married to a finance professional, always wanted a big family because she grew up an only child. She now has a 7-year-old daughter, a 4-year-old son and a 5-month-old son. 'I don't see [having kids] as like a dying thing,' Rae told The Post. When she pushes her stroller downtown, she's regularly stopped by parents thinking of adding to their own families: 'People will literally ask me on the street, like, 'How's three? I feel like I want to do it.''
