Jade sparks chaos at Big Weekend as her fans leave festival and snub huge act
Former Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall put on an incredible performance at Radio 1's Big Weekender in Liverpool - so much so that her fans decided to leave after her slot
Jade Thirlwall has caused chaos at Radio 1's Big Weekend after her incredible set where she played her chart-topping hits including Angel Of My Dreams and IT Girl. The former Little Mix star drew in thousands of fans in Liverpool's Sefton Park, and after her set, many decided to leave the park as they snubbed Mumford And Sons who were playing on the Main Stage.
A source told The Mirror: "Everybody left after Jade. Mumford And Sons may have been on the Main Stage but Jade proved she's a dark horse of the industry. She headlined the New Music Stage but after leaving her set, thousands of people decided to leave.
The festival-goer told us: "There's really no topping Jade Thirlwall, nobody could compare to her after her set, she performed Little Mix hits and her own solo bangers including FUFN (clean version), IT Girl and the club anthem Angel of my Dreams, it was a no brainer that she was the real closer of the festival.''
Another person in the crowd said that it was a shame that Jade, 32, wasn't one of the artists chosen to play on the Main Stage. "Jade was one quarter of the biggest British girlband after Girls aloud and Spice Girls, and to have her on the New Music Stage seemed like a silly idea.
"She attracted one of the biggest crowded with hundreds leaving HAIM to see her live. She certainly proved she can hold her own. Everybody was heading up to Mumford and sons afterwards. It was clear she drew a huge crowd in and she should have been on the main stage."
It comes after Jade announced the release of her debut solo album, which marks one of the biggest milestones in her personal career since her former band Little Mix went on hiatus.
Earlier this month, the singer took to Instagram to share the news with fans, posting: "THAT'S SHOWBIZ BABY! My debut album out 12th September." The announcement was accompanied by a striking image of what appears to be her album artwork, which features Jade in four different outfits and poses.
This career move comes after Jade has already spent a decade in the spotlight after rising to fame as part of Little Mix, the four-member girl group that was formed on The X Factor in 2011.
The band went on to become one of the UK's most successful girl groups, clinching number one singles, Brit Awards, and touring internationally. After the band went on hiatus in May 2022, Jade kicked off her career as a solo artist.
She has been extremely successful on her own and already has a Brit Award and a place at Glastonbury under her belt. The news of her first solo album was met with excitement from fans. One wrote: "Bring it on I can't wait!" Meanwhile, another gushed: "EVERYBODY MOVE SHE'S SAVING THE MUSIC INDUSTRY."
The artist has teased that her debut record will feature A-list artists such as RAYE, Lostboy, and Pablo Bowman. Jade will also kick off her first UK and Ireland tour in October.
She told fans: "This album has been years in the making, so I'm beyond excited that I can finally let everyone know when it's coming out. I'm very proud of 'THAT'S SHOWBIZ BABY!' as a body of work and can't wait to share it with the world. To be able to perform the album live later this year is also a dream come true. See you all on tour!"
Although she has received support from music aficionados who are delighted by her new music, Jade has recently spoken about the more challenging aspects of being in the public eye in an interview for ITV's The Assembly. The programme features questions from autistic, neurodivergent, and learning-disabled interviewers, one of whom quizzed Jade about what specific pressures she faces as a woman in the music industry.
The singer responded: "I'm going to be very honest about this. The thing that annoys me the most, and I get asked the most, is if I'm going to have children, do I want to be pregnant next? Am I pregnant? But I find it really weird people ask that because they don't know what my circumstances are."
She continued: "You don't know if someone can't have children, or just doesn't want to, or isn't ready yet. I think it's a really invasive question and I really resent being asked it."
Jade also opened up about the public scrutiny she has recently faced over her appearance, saying, "I've maybe put on a bit of weight since I've become a solo artist and because of that people speculate a lot like, 'Is she pregnant?' and I'm like, guys, I've just had a bit of garlic bread. I'm bloated. Do you know what I mean?"
While reflecting on her early years in the music industry, Jade admitted that she used to feel like she had "sold her soul," adding: "But as the years have gone by I've learned more and more about the industry. I've been collecting – a bit like Thanos with the stones – I've been collecting parts of my soul back."

Jesy Nelson updates fans with rare glimpse of partner Zion Foster and twins
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Jesy Nelson has melted hearts with an endearing clip of her partner Zion Foster and their tiny newborn daughter engaging in a playful dance, as the couple's twin daughters, recently discharged from hospital, settle into home life. Former band member of Little Mix, Jesy, who embraced motherhood for the first time last month following an extremely tough pregnancy, posted on her Instagram stories on Friday morning. The charming video captured 25-year-old singer Zion tenderly singing to one of his baby girls on their bed, while he demonstrated some lively dad moves and Jesy chuckled along in the background. Just a week prior, Jesy shared the uplifting news that her baby twins had made it to their family home for the first time. The ex-Little Mix vocalist introduced her daughters, named Ocean Jade Nelson-Foster and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster, to the world on May 18. The little ones came prematurely, born at just over 31 weeks, amidst a risk-laden pregnancy troubled by twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome. The 'Mine' singer spent considerable time hospitalised after requiring emergency surgery to safeguard her unborn children. With evident pride, Jesy disclosed that she and her daughters have returned home, just shy of a month since they were born, making it back in time for her own birthday celebration. In an Instagram post shared last week, the songstress uploaded a snapshot cradling her girls at home, appending the heartfelt words: "My babies made it home for my birthday," reports the Mirror. In May, Jesy Nelson shared the heartwarming news with her followers that her little ones had arrived "healthy and fighting strong" despite being born prematurely. More recently, she opened up about her daunting time spent in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) with her daughters. In an emotional online message, she disclosed: "Nothing or no one will ever be able to prepare you as a parent for NICU." Describing the harrowing experience, she continued, "It's the most scary overwhelming feeling of emotions not being able to feel like you can protect your babies. Naturally as a mother you just want to hold them and comfort them when they cry but you can't because there are what feels like a million wires coming out of them. Tubes and masks in the way with people poking and prodding them, it breaks your heart into a million pieces." Jesy, known for her hit 'Black Magic', couldn't hide her elation when her children were finally reunited after their treatments. She went on to say: "Having them reunited for the first time ever today was the most magical feeling I will never be able to describe. The strongest little girls I've ever known who really do have the most inspiring story to tell." The former Little Mix star, Jesy, and 25 year old musician Zion have been in an intermittent relationship since January 2022. Throughout Jesy's pregnancy and hospitalisation, Zion has been a constant source of support by her side. In early May, the couple sparked rumours of a secret wedding when Zion posted a series of black and white snaps on social media, showing him and Jesy grinning and chuckling together in bed. Jesy fuelled speculation by commenting "My husband" beneath the photos, which sent fans into a frenzy of excitement.

" Article continues below He added: "Now if I'm going through something my spirals are filled with croissants not cocaine." "Any time I feel like s*** that really gets me through." Jade explained that Jordan's words of encouragement have helped her just as much as self-help books. Article continues below She said: "I feel like you read every self-help book, you have therapy, you speak to people but sometimes you forget about yourself. Before his next telly stint, let's delve into Tony's life, from his remarkable career and net worth to his early days... Tony's early days Tony, born Anthony Lewis Bellew, hails from Toxteth, Liverpool, born in November 1982. His formative years were spent residing on Mulgrave Street in Toxeth, before the family relocated to Smithdown Road near Wavertree, reports the Liverpool Echo. Tony took up kickboxing around the age of 10, spurred on by his father, despite harbouring dreams of becoming a footballer. Kickboxing paved the way for boxing for Tony, and he eventually decided to go pro. Boxing career Tony stepped into the professional boxing ring in 2007, making his debut with a 2nd-round TKO against Jamie Ambler. He continued to notch up several more victories in 2007 and 2008, and by 2009 had maintained an unbeaten record of 12-0. He went on to square off against the likes of Nathan Cleverly, Mateusz Masternak, Ilunga Makabu and BJ Flores. In 2017, Tony stepped into the ring for his first heavyweight bout against David Haye. He later returned to cruiserweight, taking on Oleksandr Usyk in 2018, but was defeated. From 2010 to 2014, Tony held the British and Commonwealth light-heavyweight titles, as well as the European cruiserweight title from 2015 to 2016. He also held the WBC cruiserweight title from 2016 to 2017. After his bout with Usyk, Tony announced his retirement. He hung up his gloves with a record of 30 victories from 34 professional fights, with 20 of those wins coming inside the distance. He suffered three defeats and one draw. Post-retirement, Tony appeared on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins in 2020. The following year, he joined the UK commentary team for DAZN and began regularly contributing to their boxing coverage. Tony has been married to Rachael since 2018, but the pair have been together since their teenage years. The pair first locked eyes as nine year olds living on the same street in Merseyside. Their paths crossed again years later when Tony, working as a bouncer, met Rachael at a nightclub where she was dancing, and their friendship blossomed into romance. Their love continued to grow, and they are now proud parents to four sons: Corey, Cobey, Carter, and Carson. In 2018, Tony and Rachael exchanged vows in a grand ceremony at Cheshire's Peckforton Castle, surrounded by loved ones. The boxer often expresses his admiration for his wife on social media.
