Khloé Kardashian used to want to be skinny. Now she's all about muscle, protein and a bigger butt.

Yahoo01-05-2025

In her 20s, Khloé Kardashian didn't keep track of how much water she drank, she didn't own matching workout sets and, in accordance with body ideals of the early 2000s, she saw thinness as a pillar of fitness and beauty. 'We weren't carrying around a hydro jug of water every day or tracking our intake,' she tells Yahoo Life. 'It was more like, 'Let's take diet pills and not eat.''
Fast-forward two decades, and Kardashian is in a different place altogether. At 40, she's getting more water and protein, focusing on strength rather than a number on the scale and, best of all, enjoying the process. 'I definitely think I look better now, but also feel better now than I did when I was in my 20s,' she says.
Over the years, she's become the Kardashian sister most closely associated with the world of fitness. She's hosted Revenge Body on E!, written the book Strong Looks Better Naked and collaborated with the athleisure brand Fabletics. But her relationship with the gym and her body, she says, is ever-changing.
'Now I have different goals. It's not that I'm trying to hit a weight goal. I work out because of what it does for me mentally,' Kardashian says. 'It makes me happier, I have more clarity [and] I feel like I have more energy.'
Her current focus has a lot to do with her desire to be the best mom for her two children, daughter, True, 7, and son, Tatum, 2, whom she shares with her ex-boyfriend, NBA player Tristan Thompson.
'When I stay up on my health and up on my strength, I'm active with my kids,' the reality star says. 'I'm running around and swimming [with them].' She works out four to five days a week, she says. 'If I'm stressed or having a bad day, I do let it out in the gym, as opposed to snapping on my kids or something like that.'
In that sense, 'therapy really is in the gym for me,' she adds. 'Whether it's the music that I'm blasting or getting these endorphins up, whatever it is, it's just what I need.' But she still has her sights set on physical targets as well.

'I love muscle, and that's the stage I'm at. I want to build triceps or build bigger legs and have more muscle definition,' she says. 'Working out I have down pat, and I'm great at it. I think the hardest part for me is my protein intake.'
Yep — like a lot of Americans, Kardashian is preoccupied with protein, the macronutrient du jour that's gotten a big boost thanks to the rise of GLP-1 weight loss medications. In Kardashian's case, however, it's down to age and what protein can do to offset muscle loss. 'I see how beneficial it is for you to have muscle mass when you're older — yes, in my 40s, but even in your 60s and 70s to be able to, you know, walk without assistance,' she says.
The conversation is constantly popping up on her social media feeds. It also inspired her to come out with her own line of protein-packed popcorn to make her nutrition goals easier to hit. And it's not the only new project tied to 'health and fitness and longevity' she's got in the works. Her new By Khloé line of workout garments for Fabletics is designed to motivate her to keep upping her fitness game.
'I think when you feel good and confident in your workout clothes, then you are more comfortable to go to the gym and work out,' Kardashian says, recalling a time when she exercised in 'really baggy T-shirts and sweats' because she felt insecure in her body. 'It does sound really superficial, but when I started investing in workout clothes, I was like, 'OK, let me just try to play the part at least and pretend I know what I'm doing,' I noticed I would actually work out harder. I would be a little bit more dedicated in the gym.'
Kardashian would reward herself for hitting certain fitness goals by buying a new workout outfit. 'It's silly, but it's actually how I got through.' And as time goes on, she finds that it still helps — especially if the garments put the results of her hard work on display. Which brings us to … the butt.
'I feel like it's always about the butt. Big or small, we all just want it to be perky and look right and tight. Especially the older you get, you know, gravity [takes] a toll,' she says. Enter her new TLC workout leggings, which feature a heart-shaped seam that gives the bottom a peach-like appearance. '[It] tones and lifts and contours,' Kardashian says. 'You just feel good, even if you have to fake it until you make it a little bit.'
If the butt-enhancing leggings sound familiar, it might be due to sister Kim's own recent launch of the Ultimate Butt shapewear collection for Skims. 'What's funny is Kim and I didn't talk about our designs, but there's similarities to both of ours,' she says. '[We] have a similar aesthetic with things that we like anyhow, so it doesn't surprise me.'

Dua Lipa and actor fiancé Callum Turner will avoid one thing at wedding

So many of Dua's songs are about failed and messy relationships, that you might imagine her facing life as a perpetual singleton. However, nothing could be further from the truth, as she has been blissfully loved-up with British actor Callum Turner for nearly 18 months. The pair were said to have got engaged at Christmas, almost a year after first being seen together at the premiere of Callum's Apple TV+ series, Masters Of The Air, in January 2024. They were then spotted enjoying dinner dates in LA and looking cosy at afterparties for the BAFTAs, the BRITs and the Grammys. In an Instagram snap last October, they appeared smitten following the recording of Dua's televised Royal Albert Hall concert in London, with Callum kissing her on the cheek. 'Post-show fun and so much love!!!' Dua wrote. READ MORE: Holly Willoughby shows off new look as she gives rare insight into family life READ MORE: Love Island stars Elma Pazar and Sammy Root 'split' as emotional break-up 'caught on camera' And during Paris Fashion Week this January, a viral clip showed them smooching, dancing and taking selfies under the Eiffel Tower. Callum was previously in a long-term relationship with The Crown actress Vanessa Kirby, but while being quizzed about upcoming movie Eternity earlier this year, he appeared to confirm his and Dua's rock-solid status. Asked who he wanted to spend all eternity with, his short but sweet reply was, 'My girlfriend.' Dua and Callum first sparked engagement rumours on Christmas Eve when she shared an Instagram snap that showed a ring on her wedding finger. Another photo of her sipping a martini on New Year's Eve also showed the beautiful gold band with a diamond at its centre. However, the lovebirds have not publicly confirmed any marriage plans, preferring to keep their relationship as low key as possible. 'Dua seems to have found 'the one', but she's not someone who talks about her love life openly,' says music journalist John Earls. 'I think she'll want to avoid any sense of it becoming 'The Dua and Callum Show', so we probably won't know much if and when they marry.' Music writer and broadcaster Matt Charlton believes Dua has found the perfect balance between her public and private persona. 'Some celebrities broadcast every minute of their lives on social media, but Dua's not like that, and she keeps enough of herself back,' he says. 'She retains an old-school aloofness while still being aware of her image and brand, which I think is a good place for her to be.' Prior to falling for Callum, who played Theseus Scamander in Fantastic Beasts, Dua dated French film director Romain Gavras, 43. She was seen with him at a BAFTA afterparty in February 2023 and they made their red carpet debut together at the Cannes Film Festival that May. But in December 2023, they reportedly called it quits, with a source saying Dua wanted to end it 'before things turned sour'. The song French Exit from her Radical Optimism album was thought to reference the split, with lines such as, 'It's not a broken heart if I don't break it/ 'Goodbye' doesn't hurt if I don't say it / And I really hope you'll understand it / Only way to go is a French exit.' Dua also briefly dated Paul Klein, frontman of the US band LANY, and she had an on-off romance with British chef and model Isaac Carew, making her Met Gala debut with him in May 2019. Scheduling conflicts are thought to have caused their break-up a few weeks later, and Dua was then linked with Gigi and Bella Hadid's model and musician brother Anwar, 25. After meeting him at a barbecue, the pair confirmed they were an item with a public kiss at the American Music Awards in November 2019, and Dua once said, 'I'm very comfortable in the relationship, more so than any others.' They spent part of 2020 isolating on Anwar's family farm in Pennsylvania, and describing life in lockdown, Dua said, 'It's been really great – easy and fun and chill. We've been making the most of this because we got all this extra time, that we weren't expecting, to just hang out.' She and Anwar even adopted a puppy together, Dexter, who she called 'our tiny best friend', but after more than two years they went their separate ways in late 2021. In a May 2022 interview, Dua revealed that the 'next chapter' of her life was about 'truly being good with being alone'. Speaking about single life on her At Your Service podcast, she added, 'This is the first year I've not been in a relationship for a very long time. It's been really great to just be alone and only think about myself and kind of be quite selfish.' She even took herself on a solo date in New York, saying, 'Some people on the internet were like, 'Oh, Dua went out for dinner on her own, blah blah, I do this all the time.' And I think that's amazing if you do it all the time. You must be so confident. But it was a big step for me. I was nervous – like, what am I gonna do? I don't want to be on my phone.' In an interview shortly before she got together with Callum, she reflected on the difficulties of meeting someone new. 'Dating, overall, is just a little confusing,' she said. 'It's either through friends of friends or people you trust where you can meet new people, because [dating] is not really so straightforward when you are a public person.' She found it especially tricky as her parents' strong marriage had always shaped her own perceptions of love. 'You have such high expectations,' she said in 2018. 'My mum married the first man she fell in love with – first boyfriend, first everything. It does kind of paint this ideal love story in your head.' Not surprisingly, Dua found herself enduring plenty of bad dates while navigating singledom, which played out through the candid lyrics of songs like Houdini and Training Season. But as John points out, those days are now long gone. 'I don't think she'll write another album that focuses on failed relationships when she doesn't have them in her life any more,' he says. 'Perhaps her next album will instead consist of 10 songs about how great love is. I'm sure Dua can make a happy album, but we'll have to wait and see.'

Chris Brown Returns To The U.K. To Enter His Plea For Alleged Nightclub Assault

Chris Brown takes a break from tour to fight for his innocence! The R&B singer arrived in the United Kingdom to put in his plea on the running charge of causing bodily harm to an alleged victim in a nightclub two years ago. Chris Brown was previously taken into Manchester police custody last month in connection with the nightclub attack. The 36-year-old, alongside his team of lawyers, decided to plead not guilty to allegedly assaulting music producer Abe Diaw with a tequila bottle at a London nightclub in 2023. The process took place at the Southwark Crown Court around 10 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025. Decked in a blue suit and black tie corporate fit, Brown reportedly said nothing more than to enter his "not guilty" plea, identify himself, and his date of birth. His co-defendant, Dallas rapper and producer Omololu Akinlolu, also went through the same process in court. PEOPLE confirmed that adjudication will be the next stage of the case and is set to begin on July 11. The main trial is also scheduled to commence on October 26, 2026. Brown was released on a $6.7 million bail on May 21, after his arrest in the United Kingdom. Brown's arrest occurred in the early hours of May 15 in Manchester at The Lowry Hotel in the heart of the city, just hours before his appearance in court. London's Metropolitan police confirmed the arrest and reported that Brown had been seized on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. They confirmed that he was in custody at the time of their statement, which read, "A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, May 15 on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He has been taken into custody, where he remains." The police noted that investigations into the incident that happened at Hanover Square on February 19, 2023, were being supervised by detectives of the Central West Area Basic Command Unit. His arrest happened in the middle of his ongoing "Breezy Bowl" stadium tour, which celebrates his two-decades-long career in the music industry. Brown's arrest did not go unnoticed. News that he had been taken into police custody on foreign soil sparked reactions from his fans and friends. As seen on The Blast, Odell Beckham Jr. was among the first people to speak on the development. The NFL star hopped on Instagram to share a photo of his long-time friend, accompanied by a bold declaration. "Free Breeeezyyy. The moral compass will never lie ... we waiting on ya," the wide receiver wrote on the post. Beckham and the "Warm Embrace" singer have maintained a close friendship for decades since he broke out as a superstar in the National Football League. The violent confrontation happened at Tape nightclub around 3 a.m. when Brown reportedly launched at Diaw unprovoked. According to the producer's account of events, Brown broke a liquor bottle against his head and beat him when he was on the ground, leading him to sustain serious injuries. Diaw added in the suit that he was physically hit several times, and the intensity of the attack led to his knee collapsing. He was then transported to the hospital and had to use crutches afterwards to walk. That producer proceeded to file a civil case against Brown after the attack. He sought damages of $16 million as a result of physical and financial injuries suffered during the incident. The actor somehow finds himself engrossed in one lawsuit or the other. The Blast stated that in 2021, his former housekeeper served him with a lawsuit accusing him of treating her injuries from a dog attack in his home with negligence and insensitivity. Maria Avila explained in the lawsuit that the singer's large Caucasian dog attacked her while she was on duty in his home in 2020. The dog reportedly disfigured her face and arms, prompting her to go for immediate treatment. However, she claimed the rapper, even with full knowledge of her condition, failed to take proactive steps to protect her, either financially or in other ways. She claimed that he instead instructed his staff to hide evidence by getting rid of the dog. The dog, named Hades, was then ferried to Humboldt County, but he was rescued by the Humane Society, which later euthanized him. Avila demanded a settlement of $90 million in damages from the singer to get her back on track and ease losses suffered during the attack and treatment. Which way will the hammer of justice swing for Chris Brown?

Owner Told Bulldog Is Danger To Pregnant Dachshund—Tears at What Happens

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. When the owner of an American XL bully named Gunner was warned to keep him away from her pregnant dachshund, she had other ideas. What followed, captured in a video posted to Instagram on June 16, has since gone viral—garnering over 460,000 likes. The footage is challenging stereotypes surrounding a breed that has become a lightning rod for controversy across the U.K., where the family are based. The video, shared by Gunner's owner under @justgunnerstunner, shows the muscular XL bully closely accompanying his dachshund sister throughout her pregnancy. They are seen cuddling, resting together, and, eventually, Gunner is captured lying protectively outside her pen after she gives birth, looking on quietly. "He is supporting his smaller sister through pregnancy and birth, despite people saying he's 'dangerous,'" Gunner's owner told Newsweek. An overlaid text on the video reads, "Keep them separate now she's pregnant … NEVER," while the caption praises the bulldog's demeanor: "How lucky they are to have Gunner as an uncle, still too small to play." The post has melted hearts on the platform, as commenters responded with affection and surprise at the gentle behavior of a breed often portrayed as unpredictable and violent. "This is so sweet," one viewer on Instagram said. "He's the best uncle those little puppers could ask for." From left: American XL bully Gunner sits next to his dachshund sister; and cuddles her. From left: American XL bully Gunner sits next to his dachshund sister; and cuddles her. justgunnerstunner "They are safer with gunner there as he will not take his eyes off them as he will love them lots," another said, while a third added: "So sweet." This moment of domestic tranquillity and interspecies affection comes at a time when ownership of XL bully dogs is being heavily restricted in parts of the U.K. After several high-profile fatal attacks by XL bully dogs, the British government banned the breed in England and Wales, making it a criminal offense to own one without a certificate of exemption. The law also forbids selling, abandoning, or allowing such dogs to stray. Gunner's viral video has sparked conversation about whether breed-specific legislation unfairly targets certain dog breeds. While critics argue that XL bullies are genetically predisposed to bouts of aggression, advocates like Gunner's owner are pointing to moments such as this one as evidence that behavior is more about upbringing and responsible ownership than genetics.
