Khaleej Times partners with VeraViews to optimise digital advertising infrastructure

Campaign ME03-06-2025

VeraViews, an end-to-end ecosystem for transparent advertising, has announced a strategic partnership with Khaleej Times to power and optimise its digital advertising operations.
The partnership will enable Khaleej Times to elevate its digital platform to a premium standard, enhancing user experience, boosting transparency, and improving overall ad performance. This will be achieved through the integration of VeraPlayer, Proof of Traffic (PoT), and other proprietary technologies and services.
In addition to infrastructure optimisation, the partnership will expand premium video inventory to better meet the expectations of global, high-value advertisers. With a focus on mobile-first design, brand safety, and seamless viewing, the initiative sets a strong foundation for long-term growth in video ad revenue.
As part of this initiative, VeraViews will conduct a domain audit to uncover areas for improvement and streamline ad delivery.
Olena Buyan, Chief Product Officer at VeraViews, says, 'This partnership goes beyond technical integration – it sets a new benchmark for digital advertising in the UAE. By combining VeraViews' advanced video and IVT detection technologies with Khaleej Times' trusted digital reach, we're building a more accountable and transparent advertising ecosystem.'
Charles Yardley, Chief Executive Officer of Khaleej Times, commented, 'As media consumption habits evolve at record pace, video – especially on mobile – has become the dominant way our audiences engage with content. Partnering with Vera Views enables us to deliver a seamless, high-quality video experience while driving greater efficiency and transparency in our digital advertising efforts.'
As part of the rollout, Khaleej Times will exclusively implement VeraPlayer, a fully customisable video player developed for premium ad environments. It includes patented Proof of View (PoV) technology that provides impression-level verification of genuine user engagement.
Simultaneously, Khaleej Times will deploy VeraViews' proprietary IVT (invalid traffic) detection tool, Proof of Traffic (PoT), at the domain level. Together, these technologies aim to enhance user experience while increasing the credibility and value of Khaleej Times' video inventory for brands globally.
Yardley adds, 'This collaboration not only supports our ongoing push into premium video at scale but also opens the door to a wealth of new advertisers and stronger CPMs. We're excited to take this next step as we continue to lead in mobile-first content delivery across the region.'
This announcement follows VeraViews' recent launch of Ad Trace, its comprehensive advertising supply chain solution.

'No need to leave': Dubai Marina fire victims to continue at shelters after KT report

Hundreds of Marina Pinnacle fire victims who were earlier asked to vacate their temporary shelters by noon on Friday, June 20, can finally breathe a little easier. An official from Bunat Al Mustaqbil Owners Association, which manages Marina Pinnacle Tower (also known as Tiger Tower), confirmed to Khaleej Times on Friday that accommodation for all displaced residents has now been extended until further notice. 'Yes, we have extended for everyone until further notice,' the official said, without offering further details. The move comes hours after Khaleej Times reported that nearly 350 residents across four locations—Millennium Al Barsha, Samaya Hotel Apartments in Wadi Al Safa 3, Samaya Hotel in Deira, and Nobles Tower in Business Bay—had been given notices asking them to vacate by 12 noon on June 20. At Millennium Al Barsha, residents said they were informed by staff that they were no longer required to leave. MZ, who is staying at the hotel, told Khaleej Times: 'The staff at the reception told me not to worry. They said we don't need to check out and can stay for now. It was a huge relief.' Stay up to date with the latest news. Follow KT on WhatsApp Channels. Another Marina Pinnacle Tower resident staying at Nobles Tower, a 53-storey building in Business Bay, said: 'Building security staff went around all the apartments. They said police told them no one has to leave. Management has asked them to collect our details like IDs and tenancy contracts so that's what they're doing,' she said. At Samaya Hotel Apartments in Wadi Al Safa, where this journalist visited on Thursday evening, anxious residents expressed relief. 'We've been sitting with our bags packed all morning,' said one man. 'Now they've told us we can stay, and we're thankful. But we still need clarity. Some sort of written assurance would help.' Confusion, however, persists at Samaya Hotel in Deira, where not all residents have received clear instructions. 'A security staff member said we're staying. There's been no official notice, but I think it must be true as it's past noon and I'm still here,' said one resident. Help continues to pour Meanwhile, support efforts continue for those without any housing. A WhatsApp group called 'Accommodation for Tiger Towers', started by Australian expat Sevgi Anar, has become a lifeline for scores still stranded. Anar, who lives across from the fire-ravaged building, has been negotiating discounted rates with hotels and matching those in need with individuals offering spare rooms. 'Many of the people who need help were in shared accommodations. It's a huge challenge, but we're not giving up,' she said, while helping a couple check into a hotel on Friday afternoon. 'People are still stepping up. The community spirit is incredible.' On June 13, a massive fire broke out at Marina Pinnacle Tower, a 67-storey residential skyscraper in Dubai Marina also referred to locally as Tiger Tower. The fire erupted around 9.30pm and was brought under control by early morning. The Dubai Media Office later confirmed that all 3,820 residents from 764 apartments had been safely evacuated. No injuries were reported.

Aramex launches AI-powered campaign to combat scam messages

With phishing and impersonation scams on the rise, Aramex has launched an AI-generated awareness campaign to help customers distinguish legitimate brand communications from scam ones. Rolled out on the company's social media platforms, the campaign uses a deliberately surreal, AI-style video to spotlight the growing issue of scam messages targeting Aramex customers across key markets, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Jordan. The Aramex film starts with a conventional brand introduction before glitching into AI-generated visuals: delivery drones, people with box or animal heads, and surreal scenes that blur fiction and reality. The narrator shares a warning, 'Not everything you see in the digital world is real,' and then cautions viewers about scammers pretending to be Aramex, urging them to verify official communications and avoid acting on suspicious messages. The tone of the Aramex video – equal parts cautionary and absurd – intentionally mirrors the confusing nature of scam content online. The campaign draws from the insight that impersonation scams are not only growing in number but also evolving in sophistication. According to Help AG's 2024 State of the Market report, phishing and impersonation attempts accounted for 90 per cent of all cybersecurity incidents last year – pointing to a broader shift in how fraudsters exploit brand trust to deceive consumers. Mike Rich, Group CMO at Aramex, explained: 'With scams targeting our industry growing in volume and sophistication, traditional awareness methods simply weren't cutting through the noise. We adopted AI for the creatives in a classic case of fighting fire with fire. While the campaign protects Aramex customers, it's also a broader public service initiative relevant across all industries.' With scammers increasingly turning to AI tools to generate fake emails, cloned websites and deepfake content, Aramex chose to mirror this approach in a way that exposes its dangers. Shahir Sirry, Global Creative Director at Aramex, added: 'Scammers are using artificial tactics to deceive people, so we leaned into artificial visuals to highlight just how unnatural and misleading these tactics are. The irony is intentional – and hopefully impactful.' The initiative promotes three core safety measures: verifying senders through official Aramex channels, never paying through unofficial links, and maintaining vigilance across all platforms – including social media. Since its launch, the campaign has coincided with a 28% increase in downloads of the Aramex mobile app, which the company positions as the most secure platform for tracking deliveries and making payments. The video is being supported by a wider digital campaign rollout and is available to watch across Aramex's official YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, X and Facebook channels. RAK Airport unveils new terminal to boost tourism as it eyes 3 million travellers

Ras Al Khaimah International Airport has launched a significant expansion with a new 30,000 sqm terminal, adding to the existing Departure 4,933 sqm and Arrival 3,134 sqm terminals. Led by Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation and the Airport's Board, the project is a strategic step toward establishing Ras Al Khaimah as a key aviation and tourism hub in the UAE. In an exclusive interview with Khaleej Times, Sheikh Salem outlined the vision behind the development. The new terminal will feature advanced baggage handling systems, electronic gates, upgraded customs and police services, and enhanced passport control, all designed to improve the passenger experience significantly. A key objective of the expansion is to increase the airport's capacity to meet rising demand, particularly as new resorts and hotels emerge in destinations like Al Marjan Island. "We've opened tenders for a private aviation terminal, which will include dedicated hangars and aircraft parking areas to meet increasing demand from high-end travelers and private jet operators," Sheikh Salem revealed. This facility will operate separately from the main terminal and cater to the growing luxury travel segment. The terminal will also integrate the latest technologies and innovative services to offer a world-class travel experience. "The airport is the gateway to Ras Al Khaimah, and this expansion is central to the emirate's broader vision to grow its tourism and aviation sectors," he said. Construction of the terminal is expected to be completed by 2028. It is part of a broader strategic development plan involving local consultants and companies and is aligned with a privatisation initiative to enhance operational efficiency. The expansion isn't limited to passenger services. A new air cargo operator has already chosen RAK Airport as its regional base, completing over 100 freight flights transporting pharmaceuticals, livestock, and other goods. Plans are also in motion to establish an aircraft maintenance center, adding another layer to the airport's economic impact. "There's significant growth in both passenger traffic and cargo movement, and we're seeing an upward trend across all areas," Sheikh Salem added, emphasising the airport's growing role in supporting the emirate's economy. Eco-friendly technologies The new terminal will incorporate eco-friendly technologies such as energy-efficient LED lighting, geothermal heat pumps, and water recycling systems to support Ras Al Khaimah's sustainability goals. Sheikh Salem also announced that the terminal will become the first in the Middle East and wider Asia to implement DYNAES's thermodynamic energy efficiency solutions, marking a regional milestone in green airport infrastructure. The airport is home to several carriers, including Air Arabia, IndiGo, and Air India Express, with charter connections to Cairo, Jeddah, Pakistan, India, Moscow, and Prague. "We are in ongoing negotiations with more international carriers to increase connectivity to Ras Al Khaimah," Sheikh Salem said, noting a spike in demand from European markets ahead of new luxury developments. RAK Airport records 332,280 passengers According to recent open data, Ras Al Khaimah International Airport recorded 332,280 passengers in the first four months of 2025. It includes 164,691 arrivals, 144,045 departures, and 23,544 transit passengers. April posted the highest number of arrivals (46,841), and January saw the most transit activity (1446). In 2024, the airport saw a 28 per cent increase in arrivals compared to the previous year, bringing in more than 661,000 passengers, nearly double the 2022 figures. The surge is mainly attributed to improved flight connectivity and increased interest in the Emirates as a tourism destination. The airport aims to serve up to 3 million travellers in the coming years. "This is not just an expansion; it's a game-changer for Ras Al Khaimah. The airport will soon be a central gateway, connecting the world to the emirate's mountains, beaches, and luxury resorts," Sheikh Salem concluded.
