THE MUM of Scots gangland boss Steven 'Bonzo' Daniel has dodged court for a second time amid an underground turf war.
Annette Daniel, 63, was due to appear today in Glasgow Sheriff Court charged with shoplifting.

Court papers allege Daniel stole clothes from The White Company in the city centre's Buchanan Street on October 12, 2023.
Her lawyer Darran Khorasani told the trial hearing: "There is a defence motion to adjourn for reasons you [the sheriff] are aware of that has been canvassed in advance."
There was no opposition to the adjournment from the Crown and a new trial date was fixed for August.
Daniel was also due to appear at the same court two weeks ago in relation to another shoplifting matter in House of Fraser.

Daniel, of the city's Robroyston, did not attend amid fears for her safety as her house had recently been torched by mobsters.
Daniel's bungalow and her 72-year-old brother Norman's home in Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow, were set alight in late-night attacks.
Her lawyer for that matter Ross Jenkins said: 'There are professional concerns about Ms Daniel attending court.
'She is on standby to attend should your ladyship wish, but there are issues that you may be aware of.'

The trial for this case was adjourned until July.
We told how her home was set on fire at around 1am on April 14.

A nearby bungalow belonging to Norman also went up in flames.
Days earlier a woman of 72 and a 12-year-old — both thought to be relatives of the Daniels — were battered when hoods stormed a flat in Milton, Glasgow.

A second house linked to Annette in the city's Robroyston had a window smashed.
Cops are also investigating blaze attacks and shootings in the capital.
The mayhem has seen thugs targeting properties linked to the Daniel clan and jailed Edinburgh cocaine kingpin Mark Richardson, 37.
Bonzo Daniel was left disfigured after a machete murder bid by Lyons crew rivals in 2017.

Concern as Scots legal aid solicitors cut by 12% since 2022

A Freedom of Information request submitted by The Herald revealed that the number of solicitors and firms has declined each of the last four years. In 2022, 1,281 solicitors and 551 firms were registered to provide legal aid; or 12.4% and 18.3% more than 2025, respectively. The data follows on from a recent survey conducted by the Law Society of Scotland, which revealed that 41% of 200 respondents planned to stop providing legal aid within two years or were unsure whether they would continue. Furthermore, one-third of criminal aid legal solicitors are expected to retire by 2035. Solicitors say Scotland faces a legal aid crisis. (Image: Newsquest) One solicitor who offers legal aid services told the Law Society: 'The system is too time consuming and complex. 'I think 2025 will see a number of firms not re-register to undertake this work as the Government do not seem interested in fixing this.' As the number of registered solicitors continues to decline, the number of Scots seeking legal aid has remained steady. The Scottish Legal Aid Board received 176,667 applications in 2024, down slightly from 2023, when 177,124 applications were lodged. However, these figures have risen by 9.5% since 2022, when 167,974 applications were received. Simon Brown is the president of the Scottish Solicitors Bar Association, which represents criminal solicitors who practise legal aid. He told The Herald: "Our numbers have been decimated in recent years. The Scottish Legal Aid board will tell you that numbers on the criminal register have stabilised in the last few years at just under 800, but this is far from the complete picture. "The number of solicitors that SLAB was able to review for its criminal peer review mechanism (those who take six cases a year) is very low. My understanding is that there are around 450-475 for the whole of Scotland, but around 150-175 of that number are doing 55% of the work. "The other major area of concern is the age profile of criminal solicitors. Around 60% are over 55 and are likely to leave the profession in the next 5-7 years." She told The Herald: "These figures show why we have an access to justice crisis in Scotland, with many vulnerable people unable to get the support they need to navigate legal challenges whether they be related to criminal, civil or children's matters." Pointing to the Society's recent survey, she added: "There is no sign of the exodus from legal aid work slowing and we are concerned it will accelerate further in coming years. (Image: Law Society of Scotland) Thom also took aim at the Scottish Government, telling The Herald: "The government's actions are falling well short of what's needed to stop the decline in availability of criminal legal aid representation, and the minister is doing even less to address an even sharper decline in firms offering civil legal aid and also a shrinking pool of children's legal aid solicitors. "We were extremely disappointed last week to be offered a below-inflation increase for some criminal legal aid fees, and nothing at all for civil and children's legal aid," Thom added. "With nearly one in five civil legal aid firms dropping out of the system in just three years, it is clear this crisis extends across all three categories on legal aid." Responding to a request for comment, Minister for Victims and Community Safety Siobhian Brown said: 'The number of solicitors actively involved in criminal legal assistance has remained relatively stable for the last four years, with activity heavily concentrated among the busier solicitors. 'The Scottish Government continues to meet all legal aid costs in full, with expenditure last year reaching £169 million, and a further £14.2m approved in this year's Budget to meet continuing rising costs. Mercy crews raced to scene and the man was rushed to hospital for treatment to serious injuries. Police are urging any witness to come contact them. Edinburgh dog attack horror as boy rushed to hospital after being mauled at park

A Scots mum was left shaken after her son was allegedly attacked by a dog at a busy local park. Nine-year-old Nicholas Quintero suffered injuries to his face after the horror incident while he and his family attended a surprise birthday party at Leith Links on Thursday night, reports Edinburgh Live. ‌ Nick's mum Maria Cedeno recalled singing happy birthday to a friend before she heard screams and turned round to find blood gushing from her son's face after the dog supposedly lunged at him. ‌ According to Maria, Nick pointed to a Bulldog-type dog as she removed him from the park and called an ambulance. Medics arrived and police were later alerted to the incident. However, Maria claims the owners of the dog attempted to mask the incident from police and initially denied any wrongdoing. Maria is now furious following the ordeal and the handling of the incident by the owners of the dog. She claims they are yet to apologise or take any accountability for the attack which has left her son "traumatised." When approached for comment Police Scotland confirmed a child was taken to hospital after being jumped at by a dog. However, images taken by Maria appear to show a bite mark on her son's body. ‌ Speaking to Edinburgh Live Maria, from Saughton, said: "I took the children to a gathering for a surprise party and it was supposed to be a fun day out and water gun fight. "The children were getting ready and everyone started singing happy birthday but all of a sudden I hear Nicholas shouting and screaming. My son's friends and him say all he did was pet the dog, there was no trigger for it to react like that. "The owners tried to tell the police there was balloons but there was none at all. When I saw all the blood I thought he had a nose bleed as it just wouldn't stop but he was covering his face and pointing to the dog. ‌ "My reaction was I have to take him out of the park and phone an ambulance. The ambulance crew phoned the police and the dog was suddenly gone. It took 30 or 40 minutes for them to admit it was their dog. "We're now in hospital as he needs surgery. He has a cut at his mouth which is properly open and can't be stitched. I'm thankful the dog couldn't properly get a hold of him or he could have lost half his face." Pictures shared by Maria show the severity of the injury sustained in the attack as he was left with a huge cut on his face pouring with blood. ‌ Maria stated that the incident has already had a significant impact on her son as he was spooked by the family's own dog when he returned home on Thursday. The attack was also witnessed by Maria's other son, who is 11-years-old, and a friend of his. Police have since confirmed the matter has been passed to the dog warden. ‌ Maria added: "It is all wrong and I want to make people cautious. I also want the owners to take accountability and responsibility as there hasn't even been an apology or a message to ask if they can help. "Two more children have been left in shock by this as his older brother and his friend were there. As owners we have to take accountability and if this was the other way around I'd be calling an ambulance and helping in any way, but there was no help." A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'Around 6.45pm on Thursday, 19 June, 2025, officers received a report of a dog having jumped at a child in the Links Place area of Edinburgh. 'The child was taken to hospital for treatment. The matter has been passed to the dog warden.' A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: 'We received a call at 18:32 on Thursday 19 June to attend an incident on Salamander Place, Edinburgh. We dispatched one ambulance to the scene and transported one patient to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.'
