
Perfect Moment reports preliminary annual loss
Perfect Moment said preliminary full-year revenue is expected to decline 12% to $21.4 million, despite a 2.6% increase in revenue in the fourth quarter.
Excluding Hugo Boss collaboration revenue, which concluded in fiscal 2024, annual revenue rose approximately 1% year-over-year.
The revenue decline was partly attributed to the bankruptcy of Matches Fashion, one of the brand's largest wholesale partners, as well as increased investments in leadership, infrastructure, and brand repositioning. As a result, the company expects to report a net loss of approximately $16 million for the year.
Still, digital engagement and brand visibility continued to surge in fiscal 2025. Content featuring Perfect Moment reached more than 934 million people organically.
Digital media coverage drove over 16.6 billion monthly unique visitors globally over the 12-month period, up 108% year-over-year, while social media followers grew 15% to over 440,000 across Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
The year also included high-profile collaborations with Johnnie Walker Blue Label and the BWT Alpine Formula 1 Team.
'This past year has been one of consolidation and transformation,' said Perfect Moment chairman, Max Gottschalk.
'We've taken decisive steps to meaningfully upgrade our management team, address inefficiencies and instill a culture of operational discipline. I'm extremely excited about the trajectory we are now on—and this is just the beginning.'
Under a new senior leadership team, which includes talent from Canada Goose, LVMH, and Timberland, Perfect Moment has begun executing a focused strategy aimed at long-term profitability and brand equity growth.
Notably, the London-headquartered luxury skiwear brand secured over $12.7 million in wholesale pre-orders for its Autumn/Winter 2025 season, up 30% over the prior year and a new company record (excluding past collaborations). Since September, Perfect Moment has also signed five new regional agencies and opened 50 new accounts globally, expanding its sales footprint.
The launch of U.S. and European distribution hubs, along with enhanced logistics, has led to lower duties and operating expenses. Moreover, the brand has reduced its reliance on promotions.
Looking ahead, the company plans to expand beyond ski into year-round luxury outerwear and accessories.
'Our strategy is clear: to expand from slope to après, blending technical performance with fashion-led design across seasons,' said Jane Gottschalk, president and chief creative officer. 'We have built a community, not just a customer base, and we are ready to take our brand to the next level.'

"These preliminary findings indicate that age assurance can be done in Australia privately, robustly and effectively," it said. There are "no significant technological barriers" to deploying age checking systems in Australia, said the trial's project director, Tony Allen. "These solutions are technically feasible, can be integrated flexibly into existing services and can support the safety and rights of children online," he said in a statement. In a separate interview with Australia's Nine Network, Allen said preventing children circumventing age verification tools was a "big challenge", however. "I don't think anything is completely foolproof," he said. There are a "plethora" of approaches to age verification but no single solution to suit all cases, said the trial report, in which 53 organisations took part. Australia's legislation is being closely monitored by other countries, with many weighing whether to implement similar bans. Greece spearheaded a proposal this month for the European Union to limit children's use of online platforms by setting an age of digital adulthood -- barring children from social media without parental consent.

France becomes biggest shareholder in Eutelsat, EU rival to Musk's Starlink
The French state is set to become Eutelsat's biggest shareholder following a 1.35 billion-euro ($1.55 billion) investment that the financial ministry said will help the satellite company compete with Elon Musk 's Starlink. Debt-laden Eutelsat has garnered unprecedented attention this year from European governments seeking alternatives to reliance on US satellite companies. "The race is on. That's why we have to take a position now and invest now. Otherwise, the whole market will be occupied and France and Europe will depend on other powers in future," Macron's office told AFP. The 717 million-euro capital injection by the French state, which was part of an overall deal with other investors worth 1.35 billion euros, will make Paris Eutelsat's largest shareholder, raising its stake from 13 percent to just under 30 percent. The announcement comes as competition heats up in the satellite communications sector, where Elon Musk's Starlink is a dominant player, but some governments would prefer sovereign solutions. Eutelsat boasts more than 600 satellites since merging with British firm OneWeb in 2023, making it the world's second-largest operator of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, behind Starlink, and the obvious candidate as a European champion. The company has in the past called itself "the only LEO alternative to Starlink". "Eutelsat is a strategic asset contributing to European strategic autonomy," French Finance Minister Éric Lombard's office said. But it remains far smaller than the American heavyweight, which has 6,000 satellites lofted into orbit by Musk's comparatively cheap, reusable SpaceX rockets. Set to be completed by the end of this year, the capital increase is "a pivotal step in Eutelsat's strategic and financing roadmap, enabling the execution of its strategic vision", it said. The new investment will fund a renewal of Eutelsat's satellite fleet and improve its financial situation, including through a debt restructuring. Eutelsat is also gearing up to contribute to the Iris² network of European satellites in multiple orbits, supposed to offer communication services from 2030. Rush for connectivity "The war in Ukraine has shown the importance of space infrastructure for resilient communications infrastructure, whether civilian or military," Lombard's office said. "It has also spotlighted Europe's dependence on non-European technology." Musk has called Starlink the "backbone" of the Ukrainian army because of its wide use defending against Russia's invasion since 2022 – and warned that "their entire front line would collapse if I turned it off", sending Europeans scrambling for alternatives. Eutelsat had already this week signed a 10-year, billion-euro deal at the Paris Air Show to provide military communications for the French armed forces. And presenting its latest quarterly results last month, the firm said it was in active sales talks with governments both inside and outside Europe. Major shareholders stumping up money alongside Paris are shipping giant CMA CGM, Indian telecoms operator Bharti Airtel and the FSP investment fund, owned by seven French insurance companies. The two-stage plan includes a "reserved" capital increase open only to the four named investors, with a second round open to others. EU increasingly resigned to 10% baseline tariff in US trade talks, European sources say
European officials are increasingly resigned to a 10% rate on "reciprocal" tariffs, which are the baseline in any trade deal between the United States and the European Union, five sources familiar with the negotiations said. President Donald Trump has imposed broad tariffs on U.S. trade partners in an effort to reduce the trade deficit in goods with the EU. U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has ruled out going below a 10% baseline rate for the so-called reciprocal tariffs that cover most goods the EU exports to the U.S. European sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the talks, said EU negotiators are still pressing for the rate to be lower than 10%. However, one of the sources, an EU official, said negotiating the level down had become harder since the U.S. started drawing revenues from its global tariffs. "The 10% rate has become a sticking point. We are applying pressure, but now they're collecting revenue," said the official. A second European source said the EU had not accepted 10% as the baseline rate at talks but acknowledged that it would be difficult to change or abolish that baseline. A spokesperson for the European Commission, the EU's executive body that negotiates trade deals for the 27-nation bloc, did not respond to a Reuters request for comment. The U.S. government also did not immediately comment. The EU has publicly said it will not settle for a double-digit baseline rate—as did Britain, which agreed to a limited trade deal in May that retains 10% tariffs on British exports while cutting higher rates for steel and cars. Trump has hit Europe with a 50% tariff on steel and aluminum, and a 25% levy on cars. The EU is trying to secure a deal before July 9, when reciprocal tariffs on most other goods could rise from 10% to up to 50%. With an annual trade surplus of $236 billion with the U.S. in 2024, the EU has more to lose from tariffs than non-EU member Britain, which runs a trade deficit with the U.S. Trump, who has said he plans to use tariff revenues to fund his sweeping tax cuts and spending package, stated on Tuesday that the EU was not offering a fair deal. Washington has sought to fold non-tariff barriers—such as digital services taxes, corporate sustainability reporting rules, LNG sales, and food standards—into the talks. The U.S. posted a $258 billion budget surplus for April, up 23% from a year earlier, and the Treasury Department said net customs duties in April more than doubled compared to the same period last year. Tariff impact Since early April, the sweeping tariffs imposed by Trump and the subsequent pauses on some of them have generated upheaval for companies worldwide, causing some to withdraw or refrain from giving financial guidance. European automakers have been hit hard. Mercedes pulled its earnings guidance, Stellantis suspended its guidance and Volvo Cars withdrew its earnings forecasts for the next two years. One European car executive said premium carmakers could stomach a 10% tariff but that it would be much tougher for a mass-market producer. The U.S. imposed tariffs on steel, aluminum, cars, and car parts on national security grounds. Ongoing investigations into pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, timber, and trucks could trigger further duties, which EU officials say they will not accept. Trump said on Tuesday that pharma tariffs were "coming very soon." A pharma industry source said the European Commission was resisting sector-specific tariffs. The Commission has told the pharma industry that while it does not want the 10% baseline reciprocal tariffs, accepting a 10% base tariff may provide leverage in those negotiations, the source said. A European beverage industry source said the wine and spirits sector would rather have a deal at 10% than protracted negotiations. "Whether it's 0% or 10%, if applied both ways, it's manageable. It won't kill business," said Rob van Gils, CEO of Austrian company Hammerer Aluminium Industries. "Not securing a deal would have a huge negative impact on our market." One EU official said a 10% baseline rate would "not massively erode competitive positions, especially if others receive the same treatment." Based in Brussels, France Industries represents France's biggest companies, including L'Oréal and Airbus. The group said tariffs should not be viewed in isolation. "It's an additional burden on top of rising energy prices, inflation, regulatory pressure and global overcapacity," said its head, Alexandre Saubot. ($1 = 0.8672 euros)
