Most expensive items you can buy if you won £208,000,000 Euromillions

An Irish winner has just won the biggest ever EuroMillions prize, netting a massive £208 million.
It means the lucky individual will rocket into the ranks of the global elite overnight – although they still wouldn't have enough cash to enter the UK's rich list, which makes you think.
The winning EuroMillions ticket has not yet been claimed.
But we thought we'd get started with a shopping list in the meantime, so they have some ideas of what they could buy once their National Lottery win reaches their bank account.
Some options would take up all of the cash (custom-made superyachts don't come cheap, never mind the running), while others would leave plenty leftover for champagne.
The winner would have more than enough money to get into prime real estate in Ireland.
Last year, Ballynatray House in Co Waterford sold with a record price tag of around €30 million.
It is thought to have been bought by vacuum billionaire James Dyson, so maybe he could become the Lottery winner's new neighbour.
Last year, the Amazon founder reportedly treated himself to a Gulfstream G700 private jet.
Sleeping up to eight people in ergonomic seats that convert to beds, it offers a 'whisper-quiet cabin with 100% fresh, plasma-ionized air replenished every two to three minutes'.
Bezos is thought to have three other jets, and with this EuroMillions win, the lucky player could buy themselves three as well. If they don't care too much about the climate.
If the winner really wanted to push the boat out (ha ha), this lovely 77.8 metre yacht is listed for sale, and is within price range!
It has a helipad too and was described by sellers as 'excellent value at €69,000 per gross ton', although we'll have to take their word for it.
The Rutland Gate mansion in Knightsbridge would just about be achievable; it would stretch the budget though, and they'd need to find an extra £2 million down the back of the sofa.
The palatial building with 45 rooms overlooking Hyde Park was sold for this record price by its Saudi owners in 2022, according to the Financial Times.
Winners might benefit from the recent fall in London's prime housing market, however, and be able to strike a deal.
This car sold for over five million dollars at auction last year.
One of only 30 ever made, the model was engineered to break the 300 mph barrier for the first time, achieving a record speed of 304.777 mph.
British jeweller Graff unveiled the 'most valuable watch ever created', with more than 110 carats of diamonds on a platinum bracelet.
Fancy watches might have been out of reach until now, but now you could get a whole rolodex of Rolexes too.
Made of Niloticus crocodile skin dyed white and grey, it is meant to make you think of the Himalayan Mountains (can't see it myself though).
You also get 18-carat gold for the fastenings, studded with diamonds.
It sold for over £330,000 at Sotheby's auction house in 2022.
If the winner loves British football (probably not, given they bought the ticket in Ireland, but you never know), they could buy an entire football club, though not one at the top of the table. More Trending
They could then become loathed or loved, depending on the club's fortunes, a route favoured by plenty of billionaires.
If the pressure of the win is getting too much, and they fear the curse of the lottery jackpot, perhaps this would appeal.
An untouched Scottish island would come as a bargain, too, with one going on sale in 2018 for just £120,000, leaving plenty of change from £208 million. What would you buy first?

Liverpool transfer state of play with £156m swoop sealed and more moves to come

Liverpool are set to announce the record signing of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, while a deal has also been agreed to sign Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez Milos Kerkez is heading to Liverpool along with Florian Wirtz as the Reds ready themselves to splash out £156m this weekend. And their spending may not stop there as it looks set to soar past the £200m mark. Liverpool agreed a £40m fee with Bournemouth on Friday after weeks of negotiating for Hungary left-back Kerkez. The 21-year-old defender will undergo a medical next week to complete the formalities with personal terms agreed. ‌ Wirtz, 22, was at the club's training ground today, undergoing his checks before his move from Bayer Leverkusen will be made official this weekend. The Reds agreed a British record £116m deal for the Germany attacking midfielder last week and he jetted into Merseyside on Thursday night to complete the deal. ‌ Liverpool will pay £100m upfront to Bayer Leverkusen with the rest due in add-ons which are linked to both the individual success of the player and the team. He will sign a five-year deal with the Reds in a deal which will break the club record £85m they agreed to pay Benfica for Darwin Nunez in 2022. And should they hit all the add-ons in the deal it will surpass the £115m Chelsea paid Brighton for Moises Caicedo in 2023. The Reds negotiated a fee lower than the £127m package which Leverkusen were trying to hold out for. Wirtz made it clear he wanted to move to Merseyside late last month after turning down advances from Manchester City and Bayern Munich. Kerkez will arrive on Merseyside next week to complete his move from the Cherries after the Hungary left-back made it clear he wanted to join the Reds, too. Back in March, Kerkez said: 'As a kid, you dream to play at the highest level, win the trophies, be on the best teams.' Kerkez joined Bournemouth from AZ for around £15.5m in a deal which was brokered by now Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes, who previously worked with the Cherries. ‌ And Hughes is not stopping there with Liverpool's summer business. Jeremie Frimpong has already been signed from Leverkusen for £29.5m Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is arriving from Valencia for around £30m after spending last season on loan with the La Liga club. Defender Jarell Quansah is closing in on a £35m move to Bayer Leverkusen and that means the Reds could move for Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi. While a striker remains a target, especially if Nunez departs as expected. Newcastle front man Alexander Isak is certainly admired at Liverpool. ‌ Although, the Magpies are under no pressure to sell due to PSR rules so it would take a huge change in stance for them to suddenly listen to offers. The Reds will offset some of their summer spending with player sales and they've already brought in £28m from Caoimhin Kelleher joining Brentford and Trent Alexander-Arnold signing for Real Madrid before the end of his contract. With the arrival of Kerkez, Andy Robertson is mulling over a possible move to Atletico Madrid as his place in the team is set to be taken by the new arrival.

Hundreds of jobs at risk as River Island plans store closures

The retailer has unveiled a radical restructuring plan in a bid to reverse recent heavy losses due to a slump in trading. Bosses blamed the closures on the 'migration of shoppers from the high street to online' and higher costs to run stores. The family-owned retailer confirmed it is proposing to close 33 of its 230 stores by January next year as a result. A further 71 stores are also at risk depending on talks with landlords in order to secure improved rental deals. The retailer, which employs around 5,500 people, was founded in 1948 under the Lewis and Chelsea Girl brand before being renamed in the 1980s. It has reportedly hired advisers from PwC in order to oversee the restructuring process. The proposals are set to go to a vote by the firm's creditors – companies or individuals owed money by the retailer – in August. The deal will result in fresh funding being invested into the business in order to help fuel its turnaround. Ben Lewis, chief executive of River Island, said: 'River Island is a much-loved retailer, with a decades-long history on the British high street. 'However, the well-documented migration of shoppers from the high street to online has left the business with a large portfolio of stores that is no longer aligned to our customers' needs. 'The sharp rise in the cost of doing business over the last few years has only added to the financial burden. 'We have a clear strategy to transform the business to ensure its long-term viability. 'Recent improvements in our fashion offer and in-store shopping experience are already showing very positive results, but it is only with a restructuring plan that we will be able to see this strategy through and secure River Island's future as a profitable retail business. 'We regret any job losses as a result of store closures, and we will try to keep these to a minimum.' The retailer is among high street fashion chains to have been impacted by weaker consumer spending and competition from cheaper online rivals, such as Shein. River Island fell to a £33.2 million loss in 2023 after sales slid by 19%, according to its most recent set of accounts.
