Shimla: Chief minister
Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu
on Monday directed the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (

) to implement a comprehensive strategy, such as feeder metering, to accurately assess
power losses
and curb
electricity theft
in the state.
Presiding over a meeting of the officers of the state electricity board and energy department, Sukhu said the officers need to take every measure to check power losses. He further directed the authorities to carry out feeder-wise mapping of all commercial, industrial, and domestic consumers so that the entire information was available at a single click.
Sukhu also asked for providing an option by April 30 to all the officers and officials of the HPSEBL currently serving on deputation in the Directorate of Energy, Himachal Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation, and the Power Corporation.
The staff of the civil wing can also opt to go to the public works department (PWD) and other departments, he added.

The CM also reviewed the progress of the 450 megawatt (MW) Shong-Tong Power Project and instructed the officers concerned to ensure the timely completion of the project. The state govt has set a target to complete the Shong-Tong Power Project by Nov 2026.
He also directed planning for power evacuation once the project was functional to prevent monetary losses. Sukhu further instructed the transfer of officials serving in industrial areas for a longer span to ensure transparency and accountability in governance.

India's business activity surges in June on strong demand, record export orders, PMI shows

India's private sector activity accelerated sharply in June as companies ramped up production to meet surging domestic and international demand, according to a survey released on Monday that showed record export growth and robust hiring. The HSBC Flash India Composite Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI), compiled by S&P Global, jumped to a 14-month high of 61.0 this month from 59.3 in May, exceeding a Reuters poll forecast for a modest lift to 59.4. The 50-mark separates growth from contraction and the latest data showed nearly four years of sustained expansion. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Dieser einfache Trick kann den Gang verbessern Gesundheitsaktuell Mehr erfahren Undo Services gained momentum with the activity index rising to 60.7 from May's 58.8 - the strongest since August last year - while manufacturing gained pace thanks to robust output. Its PMI climbed to 58.4 in June from 57.6. "New export orders continued to fuel private sector business activity, especially in manufacturing," noted Pranjul Bhandari, chief India economist at HSBC. Live Events This expansion was driven by favorable demand as composite new orders grew at the fastest pace in 11 months. Goods producers experienced a more pronounced upturn than services firms. International sales saw a remarkable rise, with overall new export business at the highest since the data started to be collected in September 2014. However, service providers recorded slower growth in export business compared to last month. "The combination of robust global demand and rising backlogs prompted manufacturers to increase hiring," added Bhandari. Manufacturing employment growth reached a peak not seen since the series began over two decades ago. Service providers also continued adding jobs at a solid pace, albeit slower than in May. Meanwhile, overall price pressures eased slightly with input cost inflation softening to a 10-month low, allowing firms to limit price hikes to remain competitive. That resulted in a slower rate of output price rises from May's six-month high. That comes after data showed inflation eased to an over 6-year low in May, allowing the Reserve Bank of India to focus on supporting economic growth and cutting interest rates amid rising uncertainty from U.S. trade tariffs. Despite positive private sector performance, business confidence dipped to its lowest in just over two years. Manufacturers expressed slightly improved optimism while service providers tempered their expectations for the coming year.

Israel-Iran war: Bitcoin rebounds to move past $1,00,000 mark despite Middle East tension; Where's it headed?

Bitcoin rebounded late Sunday, climbing back above $101,000 after earlier weekend losses, as investors reacted to U.S. and Israeli airstrikes targeting Iranian nuclear facilities. The world's largest cryptocurrency gained alongside gold and oil futures indicating that traders anticipate a limited conflict rather than a prolonged geopolitical crisis. Other cryptocurrencies also reacted in a similar manner. Although Bitcoin experienced a sell-off at the peak of the weekend news, traders made a comeback as risk appetite grew. The U.S., in coordination with Israel, conducted an operation involving over 125 aircraft and bunker-buster bombs, targeting facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. On Sunday, Bitcoin fell below the $99,000 level, marking its lowest point in over a month, while Ether saw a sharp decline of more than 10% at one stage. The broader cryptocurrency market reacted first to escalating geopolitical tensions, with Solana, XRP, and Dogecoin also experiencing significant losses, leading to a steep overall drop across the digital asset space. Over $1.04 billion was invested in spot bitcoin ETFs between Monday and Wednesday last week, based on CoinGlass data. However, inflows sharply declined as the weekend approached, with no net change on Thursday and only $6.4 million added on Friday — a drop that coincided with former President Donald Trump's early exit from the G7 summit and the launch of a two-week U.S. review of policy options regarding Iran. According to Avinash Shekhar, Co-Founder & CEO, Pi42, Bitcoin's rising dominance close to 63 percent reflects a clear shift in market sentiment as investors seek relative safety in the largest digital asset. ' The sharper fall in Ethereum and other altcoins compared to Bitcoin signals a risk-off approach from market participants amid global macro uncertainties and tightening liquidity. This phase highlights that institutional and retail capital is gravitating towards assets with stronger fundamentals and higher liquidity. At Pi42 we believe such market cycles are crucial reminders for investors to focus on quality projects with clear utility and long-term potential rather than chasing short-term market momentum,' Shekhar added.
