Oregon football extends offer to 2029 OT prospect Xavier Berry
There's planning ahead, and then there is this.
Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks have extended a scholarship offer to Xavier Berry, a 6-foot-6, 260-pound offensive lineman from Puyallup, Wash. Berry's weight might be considered light for a college offensive lineman, but it's understanding for his age, as he will be entering the eighth grade in the fall.
Yes, the eighth grade.
Berry is in the Class of 2029, and a lot could change between now and then. But for now, colleges have at least one eye on Berry. As of now, he does not yet have a recruiting rating, but 247Sports shows that Berry has scholarship offers from Washington, Sacramento State, San Jose State, and the Ducks.
Berry is at least practicing with some upperclassmen instead of manhandling some poor 13-year-old. According to Reggie Jones, head football coach at Heir Academy, Berry could easily be the top lineman in his class when the time comes.
Oregon has become a popular destination for offensive linemen, however, so it shouldn't be a big surprise that the Ducks are eyeing talent such as Berry. They just had Josh Conerly go to the NFL, and have linemen such as Isaiah World wanting to make a name for themselves in Eugene.
Berry might not be the next in line, but he's definitely in line.

It was a very good recruiting weekend for Notre Dame football, one that saw 2026 Arizona wide receiver Devin Fitzgerald having great time during his visit, which also saw a projection for him to land in South Bend. On Tuesday another development in his recruitment happened, as Rivals Adam Gorney posted on social media that the 6-foot, 2-inch and 195-pound prospect has canceled his upcoming visit to North Carolina. The nation's No. 484 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite has previously visited Stanford, Clemson and UCLA, has now completed all of his officials. It very much looks like the Irish hit a home run on his trip, and Notre Dame could very well be adding Fitzgerald to its 2026 recruiting class early next month. Top 2026 recruits Joey O'Brien and Khary Adams seem to be enjoying their Notre Dame visits
It's a big weekend for Notre Dame football recruiting, as they welcomed in multiple official visitors. Two of them, Pennsylvania safety Joey O'Brien and Maryland cornerback Khary Adams have mentioned about playing with each other, and along with the Irish, they each are also considering Oregon and Penn State among other schools. Both of them are on campus this weekend, and it very much looks like they are enjoying their time in South Bend. Advertisement On social media multiple photo's and videos were shared, as O'Brien and Adams posed while donning the mostly Green and Gold in a shot shared by the Pennsylvania star. Adams then responded asking what he was thinking about doing. That wasn't the only thing going around, as O'Brien was also seen in a mostly Gold room holding a Notre Dame guitar (see below). Adams is ranked by 247Sports at the nations No. 75 overall player, while O'Brien is their No. 65 national prospect. The safety has scheduled a commitment date for June 20th, while the cornerback still has yet to give a timeline for his decision. Regardless of when they will each commit, the Notre Dame is pulling out all the stops to show them that they could be successful both on and off the field by joining the program. As the Anaheim Ducks get ready for the start of the NHL offseason, many around the league believe they could be very active. Anaheim hasn't reached the postseason since 2018, and the front office believes next year could be the end of the drought. The Ducks have already been rumored to be offering a substantial amount of money to Marner, potentially linking the two even more. But NHL writer Nicholas Nathanson of Bleacher Report is now predicting that Anaheim will indeed land Marner in free agency. "Marner is in dire need of a fresh environment with minimal pressure, and Anaheim presents the ideal opportunity for him. Few teams will likely match Anaheim's bid, and with a quickly emerging youth movement, they are just a year or two away from being a playoff contender," wrote Nathanson.
