TVS Motor Company appears to be preparing for its next major push in the electric two-wheeler space. A new scooter design, recently leaked via a patent filing in Indonesia, offers the first glimpse at what could be the company's upcoming electric model.

The leaked design patent, published on Indonesian auto website TMCBlog.com, indicates the new scooter takes cues from the existing TVS iQube but has a slimmer and more streamlined profile. The standout visual styling features include an LED headlamp with integrated DRLs such as the iQube but in a slimmer package.

The scooter also appears to have more aerodynamic body panels, flowing smoothly from the floorboard to the rear end. This design philosophy is a departure from the boxy and upright form of the iQube, implying that TVS could be aiming at younger, urban buyers with a more contemporary look. The company has already confirmed in the past that the brand is developing a new global electric scooter. The leaked patent might have something to do with that development. Still, there is still a bit of uncertainty as to whether this model will come out as an electric vehicle (EV) or an internal combustion engine (ICE) scooter. TVS already has a range of conventional scooters in global markets like Indonesia, and the company has not officially clarified the nature of this patent filing. In FY2025, it sold more than 18 lakh scooters, which helped account for record sales of 35.1 lakh two-wheelers across all segments. In the electric space, exports of electric two-wheelers (e-2Ws) recorded a whopping 404 per cent year-on-year growth, with almost 6,000 units exported abroad.

Suzuki has updated the Fronx for the Indonesian market with Level 2 ADAS. The model has rolled out from the Cikarang plant, which is the brand's second facility to manufacture the Fronx apart from India. It includes safety features like blind spot monitoring, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Hill Hold Control, Electronic Stability Program, and much more. However, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx available in India does not get Level 2 ADAS currently, the brand is liklet to bring the update soon. Suzuki Fronx Japan NCAP The Fronx recently went for the Japan NCAP crash test, scoring 84 percent on the assessment. Specifically, it has managed to get an overall 163.75 points out of a total of 193.8 points. Apart from that, the car scored 79.42 points out of 85.8 points in the preventive safety performance test, while the collision safety performance test ended with a score of 76.33 points out of 100 points. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx in India is sold at a starting price of Rs 7.54 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 12.90 lakh (ex-showroom).

Indonesian newspaper Jakarta Globe has reported that Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and Turkish Defence Industry Secretary Haluk Gorgun signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the acquisition of the jets on June 11. But the Indonesian Defence Ministry spokesman has clearly stated in a press conference that the deal has not been signed. Indonesia punctures Turkey's claim Indonesian Defence Ministry spokesman Farega Ferdinand Wenas Inkiriwang has said that 'no number is mentioned in the MoU. The 48 jets mentioned by President Erdogan is just the number of the Indonesian Air Force's needs, not the units ordered.' Apart from this, he has also said that until a legally binding contract is signed, no number or terms can be made public. This statement directly nullifies Turkey's official announcement and shows that Turkey's statement is only to create an atmosphere regarding the KAAN fighter aircraft and to show how many countries of the world are in a race to buy KAAN fighter aircraft. KAAN is Turkey's 5th Generation Fighter Jet, and it is being introduced at a time when many countries are unable to buy American F-35 Lightning II aircraft, especially Gulf countries like Saudi Arabia and UAE, which have been repeatedly blocked by the USA over security and technology transfer.
