Black Sabbath Announce Final Ever Show With Support From Metallica, Slayer & More
Heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath have confirmed details of their final-ever live show, which is set to take place this summer (July 5) with a plethora of support acts. The event will see the band's classic line-up – comprising frontman Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward – play live together for the first time in two decades. It will be held at Villa Park in their hometown of Birmingham, England.
The news was announced on Wednesday morning (Feb. 5) at the venue by Iommi and Sharon Osbourne, the manager and wife of frontman Ozzy. The final live show has been dubbed 'Back To The Beginning.'

'It's my time to go 'Back To The Beginning'… time for me to give back to the place where I was born,' Ozzy said in a statement. 'How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.'
Alongside Black Sabbath reuniting, the gig will play host to performances from dozens more icons of the genre, including sets from Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax, as well as the likes of Pantera, Lamb Of God, Mastodon, Alice In Chains, Halestorm and recent Grammy Award-winners Gojira.
Other acts appearing at the all-dayer include Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan, Disturbed's David Draiman, Guns N' Roses' Duff McKagan, and Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst. More names will be announced closer to the event.
Songwriter and former Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello, meanwhile, will serve as music director for 'Back To The Beginning.' In a press release, he described the upcoming gig as set to be 'the greatest heavy metal show ever.'
Tickets will be available via Live Nation from 10 a.m. (GMT) on Feb. 14. Profits from the show will go to the following charities: Cure Parkinson's, Birmingham Children's Hospital and Acorn Children's Hospice, a Children's Hospice supported by Villa Park and Aston Villa.

Metallica at Levi's Stadium: What to know before the Bay Area concerts
Fresh off record-breaking shows and even a registered seismic event, Metallica is bringing its globe-spanning M72 World Tour back home to the Bay Area. Expect massive crowds, a signature in-the-round stage and a setlist spanning four decades when Metallica takes over Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara on Friday, June 20 and Sunday, June 22. Everything you need to know — set times, parking, what to bring and what to leave at home — is covered in the Chronicle's FAQ. How to get to Levi's Stadium? Public transportation is highly recommended. VTA light rail and buses connect much of Santa Clara County. Caltrain riders can transfer to VTA at Mountain View, and BART riders can connect at Milpitas. Capitol Corridor and Altamont Corridor Express trains also serve fans from farther out. Rideshare drop-offs are available near the stadium. Bike valet is also available. Is there parking at the venue or nearby? Parking is available on-site, shared with California's Great America amusement park, as well as in nearby private lots along Great America Parkway. Advance parking passes via Ticketmaster are strongly advised to guarantee entry. What to expect Metallica will perform two entirely different setlists across the two nights. The opening acts for Friday are Limp Bizkit and Ice Nine Kills, while Pantera and Suicidal Tendencies kick the night off on Sunday. Levi's Stadium has an 11 p.m. curfew on Fridays and Saturdays for up to five non-NFL events per year. Weeknight and Sunday curfew is 10 p.m., but the venue secured a waiver from the city to extend this Sunday's show until 11 p.m. Expect Metallica's performance to run until curfew — and be prepared in case the band runs over that time. Where to eat before, during or after the show Dining options near the stadium are limited, but nearby Mercado Shopping Center offers good alternatives. Among the eateries are Tomatina, Pho Hoa Noodle Soup & Janzen Tea, In-N-Out Burger, Panda Express and Subway. Other options in the vicinity include Pedro's Restaurant & Cantina (3935 Freedom Circle), El Torito (2950 Lakeside Drive) and Birk's (3955 Freedom Circle), Puesto (2752 Augustine Drive #110) and Il Fornaio (2752 Augustine Drive #120). Inside Levi's, there are about two dozen cashless concession stands featuring local favorites like Super Duper Burgers, Slice House Pizza and Starbird. Reverse ATMs are available to convert cash to a card. After the concert, late-night fast food is your best bet, but expect lines — and maybe even a spontaneous 'Enter Sandman' singalong while you wait. What is the capacity at Levi's Stadium? Levi's Stadium holds 68,500 people, with room for more than 75,000 during special events. The lower bowl alone seats about 45,000, and there are more than 8,500 club seats and 165 suites. What is the bag policy? There are no lockers or designated areas to check your bag at Levi's Stadium, so carry only what you need. Visitors are permitted to bring in approved clear bags not exceeding a size of 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches. Approved bags include backpacks, fanny packs, purses or 1-gallon clear plastic Ziploc-type bags. Small clutch bags, approximately the size of an adult hand (4½ inches by 6½ inches), are also allowed. What items are prohibited inside the venue? Leave confetti, glow sticks, signs, banners, light-up costumes and selfie sticks at home. Phone charging cases and small power banks are allowed, though charging stations are available at guest services. Is tailgating allowed? Tailgating is not permitted, and non-ticket holders are not allowed to gather in parking lots or surrounding areas. There are no external viewing areas provided. What to expect from the weather Expect mild, sunny conditions for the shows, with highs in the low-to-mid 70s and overnight lows around 50 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Sunday may be slightly warmer, near 78 degrees. With little to no rain and only light marine cloud activity expected, fans should enjoy ideal conditions for an outdoor concert. Just don't forget the sunblock. Places to watch Black Sabbath's final gig in Birmingham if you didn't get Villa Park tickets
If there's one thing you can rely on Birmingham's music venues for it's keeping the joy of heavy metal alive for fans in this city, all year round. And with Black Sabbath's final gig less than two weeks away at the time of writing, they're once again stepping up for those who love alternative music in Birmingham. Some of our best rock bars are setting up big screens for the day on Saturday, July 5, streaming the Back To The Beginning show so everyone that couldn't get a ticket to the sold-out event can watch it together with fellow fans. It's free. Black Sabbath announced last week that the Villa Park gig - which also features artists like Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax - will be streamed live from Aston. Technically, it's going to be running on a two-hour delay, with the stream kicking off at 3pm on Saturday. Here are some venues planning on screening it, if you didn't want to stay home for the occasion. The Flapper, Cambrian Wharf, 8 Kingston Row, Birmingham, B1 2NU Scruffy Murphy's, on the site of the old Pen and Wig, is a stalwart of Birmingham's heavy metal scene and it's going big for Sabbath weekend. You'll be able to watch the gig in their downstairs room, where many of Birmingham's best heavy metal bands have played. What's more, Fallout Clothing, which sold officially licenced merchandise in the Oasis Market for years, will be in the house with a special pop-up shop all weekend - here's the details. Scruffy Murphy's, Dale End, B4 7LN Subside is known for many as being that Digbeth bar that stays open until 6am, but for fans of heavy music in the region, it's also known as an important venue that will put free gigs on for the community. Keeping that flame lit is important for the grassroots bands in the city as well as fans and so it's worth considering a visit when it comes to celebrating Sabbath on July 5. They're planning to screen Ozzy Osbourne's last gig and there'll be an after party until six in the morning. A good option if you're getting a very late/very early Sunday coach or train out of town! Hey, there! We hope you're having a wonderful official start to summer (or winter, if you're south of the equator). One thing that we certainly hope is heating up is your Wordle streak. To help keep that on fire, here's our daily Wordle guide with some hints and the answer for Sunday's puzzle (#1,464). It may be that you're a Wordle newcomer and you're not completely sure how to play the game. We're here to help with that too. Wordle is a deceptively simple daily word game that first emerged in 2021. The gist is that there is one five-letter word to deduce every day by process of elimination. The daily word is the same for everyone. Wordle blew up in popularity in late 2021 after creator Josh Wardle made it easy for players to share an emoji-based grid with their friends and followers that detailed how they fared each day. The game's success spurred dozens of clones across a swathe of categories and formats. The New York Times purchased Wordle in early 2022 for an undisclosed sum. The publication said that players collectively played Wordle 5.3 billion times in 2024. So, it's little surprise that Wordle is one of the best online games and puzzles you can play daily. To start playing Wordle, you simply need to enter one five-letter word. The game will tell you how close you are to that day's secret word by highlighting letters that are in the correct position in green. Letters that appear in the word but aren't in the right spot will be highlighted in yellow. If you guess any letters that are not in the secret word, the game will gray those out on the virtual keyboard. However, you can still use those letters in subsequent guesses. You'll only have six guesses to find each day's word, though you still can use grayed-out letters to help narrow things down. It's also worth remembering that letters can appear in the secret word more than once. Wordle is free to play on the NYT's website and apps, as well as on Meta Quest headsets and Discord. The game refreshes at midnight local time. If you log into a New York Times account, you can track your stats, including the all-important win streak. If you have a NYT subscription that includes full access to the publication's games, you don't have to stop after a single round of Wordle. You'll have access to an archive of more than 1,400 previous Wordle games. So if you're a relative newcomer, you'll be able to go back and catch up on previous editions.
