Men's basketball: Gophers add veteran point guard via transfer portal
The Gophers men's basketball program has added to its backcourt in consecutive days.
Western Michigan point guard Chansey Willis committed to the U on Monday, following combo guard Langston Reynolds from Northern Colorado on Sunday.

'Chansey is a great playmaker who makes others around him better,' U head coach Niko Medved said in a statement. 'He is a dynamic scorer who can use his speed to his advantage. In addition, he's a great two-way player and we're excited to have him on our team.'
Willis, who is listed at 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, averaged 16.8 points and 5.8 assists in 24 games last season. He shot 43% from the field, 28% from 3-point range and 72% from the free-throw line.
Willis might have two years of eligibility remaining for Minnesota, following the start of his college career at Saginaw Valley State (Division II) as a freshman and Henry Ford College (a junior college) as a sophomore. Within the last year, current college players have not had years spent at junior college count against their NCAA eligibility.
Willis, a Detroit native, was the state of Michigan's Gatorade Player of the Year in 2022.

The program officially announced Reynolds' addition on Monday.
'We're excited to add Langston to our team,' Medved said in a release. 'Langston is a physical, athletic guard who plays well in transition, can get downhill and has good rebounding ability. He also has a great personality and we're thrilled to have him in the Maroon and Gold.'
The Gophers now have four scholarship spots still available for next season.

Known for his strong hands and interior pass-rushing ability, he will help anchor the defensive line for Tech in future seasons. Future Spartan named Michigan's Mr. Baseball, first team all-state selection Michigan State baseball is in the process of rebuilding their roster for the 2026 season, but one thing Jake Boss has going for him, an absolute stud in the incoming recruiting class. Logan Lacourse made his commitment to Michigan State in 2023, and has been steadfast in his commitment to the Spartans throughout all of this time. Now, in his senior year at Bay City Western High School, Lacourse has been honored as the top player in the state of Michigan. Lacourse has been named as Michigan's Mr. Baseball, while also earning first team all-state honors. This caps a remarkable four year run the future Spartan has had with Western including being named to the MHSBCA Dream Team in both 2024 and 2025, being all-state in 2024 and 2025, being selected to the MHSBCA All-Star team this year and being named a finalist for the 2025 Gatorade Player of the Year. Morgantown's Ariana Borneo named W. Va. girls soccer Gatorade Player of the Year
MORGANTOWN – Ariana Borneo has been one of the best girls' soccer players in the state since her freshman season. It was only fitting that the two-time state champion capped her final season at Morgantown High with the 2024-2025 W. Va. girls soccer Gatorade Player of the Year award, announced on Wednesday. 'I was very excited to see that I had won the award, that was a goal of mine this year,' Borneo said. 'I know the other candidates were also strong players, so I am honored.' Borneo led the Mohigans with 19 goals and 22 assists this season. This is the third consecutive season that a player from MHS was named to the honor (Gracie Brown won it twice in a row). 'Morgantown High School has always had a really strong program, and we've proved that over the years,' she said. 'Having three players from the team to win the award speaks volumes about our program and staff. We have produced some of the best players in the state.' Recently, Borneo has spent time playing with the Trinidad & Tobago U-20 women's national team and has her name in the selection pool for the senior roster. 'Last season, I was hoping to lead us to a third straight title, but I feel like we had a successful season overall,' she said. 'I held myself to a higher standard this year and was able to accomplish a lot of my goals.' Borneo recently graduated from MHS and has signed to play women's soccer for Ashland University (Oh.). She says her time at Morgantown High won't be forgotten anytime soon. 'I loved my time at MHS on and off the field,' she said. 'My teachers, coaches, trainers, and teammates all helped me grow into the person and player I am today. MHS girls' soccer is like a family to me, and I have lifelong friends, and I know I couldn't have achieved anything without them.'
