Ruben Hyppolite modeled his game after this legendary Bears linebacker
The Chicago Bears added to their linebacker group in the 2025 NFL draft with the selection of Maryland's Ruben Hyppolite II in the fourth round.
Chicago had a need at the position after losing veteran Jack Sanborn in free agency, and they'll look to call on Noah Sewell, Amen Ogbongbemiga, or Hyppolite to have a prominent role alongside veterans T.J. Edwards and Tremaine Edumnds. The team has already told Hyppolite that they feel he can be a versatile weapon for them on defense, and coordinator Dennis Allen will work with the rookie to find what role best suits him.

Coming to Chicago as a linebacker means there is legendary history to live up to, and Hyppolite has modeled his game after one of the best linebackers to ever come out of the franchise: Hall of Fame Mike Singletary.
"Mike Singletary, I've been watching interviews and highlights of him since I could remember," Hyppolite told The Sick Podcast with Adam Rank. "I kind of credited a lot of the way I play the game to just watching him and hearing him speak. Navorro Bowman who played with Singletary coached me a bit at Maryland and a lot of his drills and the things that he taught me came from Coach Singletary. There's a lot of those things that I still take in and apply to this day."
Modeling his game after Singletary is a trait that'll make him loved by the Bears fanbase, and if he can play even a quarter of the way in which Singletary did for years in Chicago, the franchise will have struck gold with their fourth round pick.

CARY, N.C. (AP) — Arkansas shortstop Wehiwa Aloy won the Golden Spikes Award as the top amateur baseball player in the nation, USA Baseball announced Saturday. Aloy is the third Arkansas player to take home the prize, joining Andrew Benintendi in 2015 and Kevin Kopps in 2021, and the 12th winner from the Southeastern Conference — most of any league. Aloy was named an All-American by four major publications and finished the season with a run to the College World Series semifinals. He batted .324 with eight runs, 10 RBIs and five extra-base hits in nine NCAA Tournament games. Of the 46 previous Golden Spikes winners, six have earned Rookie of the Year honors in the major leagues, three have won the Cy Young Award, three were selected league MVP and 11 have won at least one World Series championship as a player or manager. The Oklahoma Sooners have made an effort to improve their kicking game through the 2026 recruiting class, going all-in on kicker Trace Rudd from Overland Park, Kansas. The Sooners hosted Rudd for an official visit during the ChampU BBQ and their efforts have paid dividends. Rudd announced his commitment on Saturday to the Oklahoma Sooners. He said, "Sooner Nation, I am home and 100% committed. Unforgettable moment for me." He went on to thank Brent Venables, special teams coach Doug Deakin, and general manager Jim Nagy saying, "thank you... for believing in me and giving me this opportunity." Braves' Chris Sale goes on 15-day IL with fractured rib cage suffered on diving catch
Chris Sale made an excellent diving stop on a grounder by Juan Soto for the first out of the ninth inning to finish off his start against the New York Mets on Wednesday night. Yet going hard to the ground cost the veteran left-hander a trip to the injured list. The Atlanta Braves announced Saturday that Sale is going to the 15-day IL with a fractured ribcage. The injury occurred as Sale pitched his best game of the season, with 8 2/3 scoreless innings, five hits, one walk allowed and seven strikeouts. Advertisement Sale actually stayed in the game after the play to strike out Pete Alonso on four pitches before leaving the game after allowing a bloop single to Brandon Nimmo. He threw 116 pitches overall, 85 for strikes. The reigning National League Cy Young Award winner has a 2.52 ERA (third among NL starting pitchers) and 5-4 record in 15 starts, compiling 114 strikeouts in 89 1/3 innings. With Wednesday's 5-0 win, the Braves (34-40) had victories in six of their past eight games, part of a stretch during which Atlanta won seven of 10. Perhaps more importantly for the NL East standings, it was the fifth straight loss in what's become a seven-game losing streak for the Mets that's knocked them out of first place (45-31) in the division.
