Brian O'Driscoll Rejected by Exclusive Tennis Club as Katja Mia Shares Scary Gym Experience

Yahoo31-03-2025

This weekend in Irish celebrity news, we saw a mix of heart warming moments, nerve-wracking encounters, and one of the country's greatest sporting legends getting a surprise rejection. Life is a Rollercoaster after all…let's get into it!
Irish rugby legend Brian O'Driscoll may have conquered the world of sport, but it seems his skills on the pitch haven't impressed the gatekeepers of one of Ireland's most exclusive tennis clubs. The former Ireland captain has been denied membership at Dublin's prestigious Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club (FLTC), leaving many of its 2,000 members scratching their heads.
The club, known for its strict and secretive membership process, refused to comment on why O'Driscoll didn't make the cut. When pressed, a spokesperson responded with a firm 'Nothing,' as if delivering a final-set tiebreak shutout.
It's speculated that the rugby great fell short of the club's 'rackets-focused' ethos, which prioritizes a strong background in tennis or squash. While O'Driscoll has recently taken up padel, it appears that swinging a smaller racket isn't enough to ace an FLTC membership.
With an €8,000 joining fee and annual dues of over €2,500, Fitzwilliam is a club where once you're in, you never leave—because, well, you'll never get back in. But if O'Driscoll can survive Six Nations battles, surely a little tennis club rejection won't break his serve!
TV presenter Katja Mia has shared a frightening experience that left her 'shaking' while working out in her apartment complex's gym.
She was exercising alone when she spotted a man in a tracksuit hopping over the fence separating the gym from the outside. Instead of using the main entrance, he went straight to the fire escape door—one that should only open from the inside in emergencies. Without knocking or hesitating, he repeatedly pulled at the handle, trying to get in.
Despite feeling panicked, Katja stayed calm and motioned through the soundproof glass that the door was locked. She tried to act natural but felt an overwhelming urge to leave. Her heart was racing, and her hands were shaking as she quickly gathered her things and ran back to the safety of her apartment.
While she acknowledged the man could have had a reason for being there, she questioned why he would climb a fence and attempt a locked door instead of using a proper entrance. The unsettling encounter left her deeply shaken, and her story has resonated with many online, serving as a reminder to us all to always trust your instincts in uncomfortable situations. Stay safe out there folks!
Ronan Keating has been hit right in the dad feels as his youngest daughter, Coco, turned five over the weekend. The former Boyzone star took to Instagram to share a heartfelt tribute to his little girl, proving once again that, no matter what, being a dad is the best thing in the world.
Posting an adorable throwback snap alongside a recent pic, Ronan gushed about how fast time is flying, leaving fans wondering if he's been lovin' each day as if it's the last! 'Sitting on Bondi beach with Stormy laughing at ya while you do cartwheels and wondering where the 5 years have gone. Happy birthday our baby girl.' he wrote, while presumably weeping into a cool pint of Rockshore.
Fans were quick to flood the comments with love and well wishes for Coco and her family. A heartfelt tribute that proves love will save the day!
Ronan, of course, isn't just a chart-topping legend; he's also a doting dad who proves that words aren't always enough to describe the love he has for his kids. One thing's for sure—Coco has her dad wrapped around her tiny little finger. And while she may be five now, Ronan's baby girl is one step closer to swapping cuddles for eye-rolls. Happy birthday Coco!
It's been a weekend of celebrations, shocks, and sporting snubs—proving once again that nothing at all is guaranteed in the world of Irish celebrity news!

Is Penn State losing recruiting ground to Notre Dame?

First Grayson McKeogh, now Tyler Merrill. Those are two offensive linemen that the Nittany Lions have let slip through their grasp and have ended up with the Fighting Irish. Thus, this continues a slippery slope for the Nittany Lions as they continue to lose traction not just within their state, but in the Big Ten and on a national stage as well. For the past couple of weeks, it has just been continuous bad news on the recruiting trail as more and more top recruits eschew the Nittany Lions in favor of the men from South Bend. McKeogh and Merrill specifically were Pennsylvania guys and two of the better O-linemen in the cycle. To make matters worse, another Pennsylvania product in safety Joey O'Brien is said to be leaning in favor of the Irish. His five-star status as well makes it ever more painful, as Penn State fans are sure to notice the lack of one in this cycle thus far. As the recruiting process grows ever more tense, look for this burgeoning recruiting rivalry to continue as Notre Dame gets ever more aggressive. They are already making moves in the 2027 cycle, extending an offer to a Penn State commit in the past couple of days. Thus the question arises: is Penn State rapidly losing ground in its own state, and will they be able to recover before it's too late?

Broncos roster: RB Audric Estime (No. 23) looking to win a role in crowded backfield

Broncos Wire's 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at second-year running back Audric Estime, No. 23. Before the Broncos: Estime (5-11, 277 pounds) was a three-year player for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish from 2021-23. Estime was the featured back in the Irish backfield in 2022 and 2023, after having a relatively quiet freshman year in 2021, with seven carries for 60 yards. In 2022, Estime had a great year, lugging the rock 156 times for 920 yards (leading all independents) and 11 rushing touchdowns, additionally catching nine passes for 135 yards and one touchdown. Estime's 12 touchdowns from scrimmage were the most among independents in 2022. In 2023, Estime got even better. Estime had 210 carries, leading all independents for the second year in rushing yards with 1,341 yards, as well as leading independents in yards per carry (6.4), and rushing touchdowns (18). Estime also had 17 catches for 142 yards. Estime's collegiate production was so appealing that he was selected by the Denver Broncos in the fifth round (147th overall) of the 2024 NFL draft. Broncos tenure: Estime's rookie year was a unique one in Denver. At first, Estime was backing up 2023 starter Javonte Williams and playing a reserve role in the backfield. Estime then had an injury stint, and the backfield later evolved into a three-back unit between Williams, Estime and Jaleel McLaughlin. Later in the year, Estime and McLaughlin got increasingly more carries, pushing Williams out of the limelight. Estime finished 2024 with 310 yards on 76 carries and two touchdowns. Estime also caught five passes out of the backfield for 27 yards. Chances to make the 53-man roster: Likely. Estime looks to compete for the No. 3 running back job behind RJ Harvey and J.K. Dobbins. Surprise cuts happen every year in the NFL, but Estime is likely to make the squad. Related: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans.

Is America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders season 3 happening? From cast to suspected release date

If, like us, you've already finished America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders season two, then you're probably wondering if and when the third season will be on Netflix to fill that Thunderstruck-shaped hole in your life. Given the success of seasons one and two of the show, which were released on 20 June 2024 and 18 June 2025 respectively, fans have got their fingers crossed that a third season will be on its way. Although, Netflix is yet to confirm (or deny) anything about the fate of America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Regardless of that, our excitement levels for a third season are so high that we've scoured the internet to find everything we know about a possible third instalment. From cast to suspected release date, here's everything we know about America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders season three... As mentioned, there's been no confirmation from Netflix on a third season of America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, but the team has already been posting a lot on their socials about the audition process for the coming year. That's because what we've seen on season two happened last year so, if Netflix does film a series three, it'll follow those currently competing in the audition and training camp process. If America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders does get renewed for a third season, there will be some familiar faces we can count on seeing, including DCC director Kelli Finglass and head choreographer Judy Trammell. There may be a celebrity star too, if the group's Instagram is anything to go by – as singer, songwriter, and musician Kacey Musgraves has been involved in the training camp process as a guest judge. In terms of who will (or won't) make the cheerleading team in season three, there's been some spoilers shared on social media which point to who we can expect to see. On the official DCC Instagram, zooming into the above training camp post gives us a good idea of the returning cast who have made it through to this round, while a post about the 'rookies' of the season introduces us to newer faces. As well as the veterans who retired at the end of season two (those being Chandi, Jada, Armani, Zoe, and Amanda), some other cast mates are missing from the promo shot above. While we know that fan-favourite Dayton auditioned again this season, given that she's missing from the training camp image, we can assume she was cut. Taking to social media to comment on a fan's post about just that, she commented: "It wasn't in the cards for me, but I'm proud of how much I've grown. I feel it's important to note I did EVERYTHING they asked of me and tried my absolute best to fit their mould. I'm not wanted there and I'm hoping this takes me to where I truly belong!" Again, there's been no confirmation that an America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders season three is definitely happening but, if it does, we guess it'll be released in June 2026, based on the release pattern of seasons one and two. Until then, we'll be busy rewatching both seasons, catching old episodes of Making The Team, and following all the cast members on social media. Stream all episodes of America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders seasons one and two on Netflix now.
