USMNT 1-0 Saudi Arabia: Yanks grind out win to advance to Gold Cup knockouts
The USMNT is through to the knockout rounds of the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup after beating Saudi Arabia 1-0 in Austin, Texas, on Thursday. MORE — Pochettino hits back at Pulisic: 'I'm the head coach' Mauricio Pochettino's side didn't score nearly the number of goals (1, compared to 5), or have nearly the same number of chances (5 shots, compared to 21), as they did in their opener against Trinidad & Tobago, but the Yanks still improved to two wins from two games in Group D. The breakthrough didn't come until shortly after the hour mark, but what a moment of individual quality it was from Sebastian Berhalter to set up Chris Richards for his 2nd USMNT goal in the 63rd minute. Berhalter stepped up to a free kick roughly 35 yards out and couldn't have placed his service into the penalty area any better had he picked the ball up and walked it into the box himself. Richards' run was timed inch-perfect and all he had to do was get a foot on the ball seven yards out from goal to turn it home. That would actually be the final shot attempted in the game as the USMNT sat deeper to defend and looked to make the most of counter-attacking opportunities from that point forward. Player ratings - USMNT vs Saudi Arabia What's next? USMNT 1-0 Saudi Arabia: Richards turns home Berhalter's brilliant free kick (63') What a ball from Berhalter. What a finish by USMNT starting lineup Freese - Freeman, Richards, Ream, Arfsten - de la Torre, Berhalter, Tillman - McGlynn, Luna, Agyemang Saudi Arabia starting lineup Alaqidi - Abdulhamid, Al Amri, Madu, Al-Boushail - Al-Hassan, Al-Obood, Aljohani - Majrashi, Ahmed, Al-Buraikan How to watch USMNT vs Saudi Arabia live, stream link and start time Kick off time: 9:15 pm ET, Thursday How to watch: FS1, TUDN Stream online: or the FOX Sports app Mauricio Pochettino's side snapped a four-game winless streak at home (first time since 1988) with a 5-0 victory over Trinidad & Tobago on Sunday, thanks in large part to two goals from Malik Tillman and a pair of assists from Diego Luna. The midfield duo played a part in each of the USMNT's first three goals, all in the first half, as they make their case not only for a spot on the 2026 World Cup but perhaps a place in the starting lineup — even when Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie are back in the mix. USMNT focus, team news What's great about the USMNT's performance against T&T is that they scored five goals (on a very healthy 3.48 xG) while holding 70 percent of possession in the game. Almost regardless of opponent, the A-team has too often struggled to generate chances (and score them) when the opposition puts five defenders and four midfielders behind the ball. What's even better is that only four of their 21 shots were taken from outside the box, meaning they worked the ball deep into the penalty area (only 8 shots outside 12 yards) and didn't settle for speculative long-range attempts. Saudi Arabia focus, team news Saudi Arabia, the lone team in the tournament invited as a guest, beat Haiti 1-0 in their Group D opener. Al-Ittihad striker Saleh Al-Shehri scored from the penalty spot in the 21st minute. Al-Shehri is the only player in the Arabian Falcons' current squad with double-digit international goals (17). USMNT vs Saudi Arabia prediction The Saudis were quite poor with their limited possession (43 percent) against 83rd-ranked Haiti and will likely have even less to work with against the Yanks. Patience will be key again, but Luna will deliver the goods again. USMNT 3-1 Saudi Arabia.

Nebraska football target cancels ACC visit
Nebraska football target cancels ACC visit Class of 2026 Nebraska football recruit Kamron Wilson has canceled his visit to Florida State. He is going to return to Syracuse this weekend, according to a report from 247Sports' Mike McAllister. Wilson has been on the Huskers' recruiting board for the past couple of months. Most recently, he visited Lincoln on June 6. That was an official visit. He took a visit to Syracuse on March 29 and committed the following day. Wilson is the No. 45 overall edge defender in the 2026 class, and the No. 62 overall player in his class from the state of Florida per the On3 Industry Rankings. The edge defender recorded 117 tackles and 17 sacks last season for Miami Southridge, according to statistics from This could be an interesting development for Nebraska as Syracuse tries to strengthen their commitment with Wilson. It appears that the Huskers will have to make a harder push. How to watch USMNT v Haiti live: Stream link, TV channel, team news, prediction
The United States men's national team gets a final tune-up for the Gold Cup knockout rounds when Mauricio Pochettino leads the team into Arlington for a match-up with Les Grenadiers of Haiti on Sunday. The Yanks have sealed passage from the group stage with wins over Trinidad and Tobago and Saudi Arabia, and could meet Mexico or Costa Rica in the quarterfinal, and they'll have no way of knowing whether El Tri or Los Ticos are first or second in the Group A prior to kickoff. So a match-up with rivals Mexico could be coming win, lose, or draw against Haiti, as Mexico face Costa Rica later in the evening with El Tri only clear of Los Ticos on one goal worth of differential and Costa Rica ahead on goals by one. Haiti can still reach the knockout rounds with a win over the Yanks plus help from Trinidad and Tobago. The Saudis have three points while the USMNT and T&T each have one. T&T needs a win over the Saudis and a Haiti loss or draw versus the U.S. (or a blowout win over Saudi Arabia that is four goals better than Haiti's win over the USMNT). For live updates and highlights throughout USMNT vs Haiti, check out PST's live blog coverage below. How to watch USMNT vs Haiti live, stream link and start time Kick off time: 7pm ET, Sunday How to watch: FOX, TUDN Stream online: or the FOX Sports app USMNT team news, focus Haji Wright is dealing with a reported achilles injury of undisclosed severity, though the forward was in attendance at the Saudi Arabia match. Damion Downs also dealt with a late injury after coming off the bench. Tyler Adams and Johnny Cardoso both returned from short injury absences against the Saudis, though whether they'll be fit to start by Sunday is a question mark. Pochettino did not rotate his XI much between the first two games, but he can do what he wants on Sunday which could mean opportunities for John Tolkin, Nathan Harriel, Quinn Sullivan, Paxten Aaronson, and/or Brian White. Haiti team news, focus Les Grenadiers won't have Nantes center back Jean-Kevin Duverne, who was sent off early in their 1-1 draw with Trinidad and Tobago. They will have veteran AEK Athens striker Frantzy Pierrot, who has 32 goals in 40 caps including the lone goal in this tournament. All-time leading scorer Duckens Nazon is also in the squad as is goalkeeper Johny Placide. This is one of the better performing Haiti sides in recent history and it's led by an international management veteran in French manager Sebastien Migne. USMNT vs Haiti prediction This match may end up being trickier than the win over bunkered-in Saudi Arabia, as Haiti need a win. That impetus to attack should hopefully lead to a more appealing spectacle, one that would benefit the USMNT. USMNT 3-1 Haiti.
