The 95th Midsummer Classic is the Braves' third time hosting the game (1972 and 2000), pitting the American and National League's best players against each other. The AL won the contest the past two years and holds an overall 48-44-2 advantage in the series.

Phillies Predicted to Cut Ties With Mick Abel After Aaron Nola News

Phillies Predicted to Cut Ties With Mick Abel After Aaron Nola News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Philadelphia Phillies have been fortunate that right-hander Mick Abel has thrown the baseball at the level he has throughout the first few starts of his big league career. Advertisement In his 20.1 innings, the 23-year-old has posted a 2.21 ERA and has struck out 17 hitters. Abel, an Oregon native, has looked the part. However, he realistically only had a chance because of Aaron Nola's injury. If Nola doesn't return to the level that the Phillies are hoping for, or they get bad news on his injury front, it's possible that Abel could still be on the team in the coming months. However, if Andrew Painter comes up when he's expected to, which could be sometime in July, and Nola is healthy, it's tough to find a place for Abel in the rotation. That's why The Athletic recently predicted that they'd cut ties with him, adding that Abel will likely be the Phillies' best trade chip. Jun 10, 2025; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Mick Abel (40) throws a pitch during the fourth inning against the Chicago Cubs at Citizens Bank Hartline-Imagn Images 'Perhaps the biggest question the Phillies must answer in the next six weeks, James. A lot of it will depend on Aaron Nola's progress from his various injuries. If the Phillies have doubts about his ability to contribute in August and September, it might compel them to keep Abel. But they know Andrew Painter is coming. And, while Abel has pitched well in the majors, I do think he represents their best trade chip,' they wrote. He was once one of the top prospects in baseball and has proven why in the early stages of his big league career. Phillies Predicted To Target Star RHP To Help Leaky Bullpen

Phillies Predicted To Target Star RHP To Help Leaky Bullpen originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Philadelphia Phillies are expected to be active at the MLB Trade Deadline as they search to help fix their struggling bullpen. With the 25th-ranked bullpen ERA in all of baseball at 4.64, they are among the worst in baseball. Advertisement Starting pitching and quality bats have kept the team chugging along, powering them to the fifth best record in baseball (46-31), just two games back of the league-leading Detroit Tigers. However, the team is also being projected to look at the MLB Draft as a longer-term solution to their pitching problems. According to Jim Callis and Jonathan Mayo, Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski is expected to target a right-handed pitcher for help. With the 26th overall pick, Callis and Mayo believe the franchise will take Tyler Bremner, a 21-year-old pitcher out of The University of California, Santa Barbara. Advertisement scouting report of Bremner says the pitcher is known for a blazing fastball that touches 98 miles per hour with little effort, and a changeup that keeps hitters guessing. "His best secondary offering is his easily plus changeup that some scouts hang a 70 grade on," the scouting report says. "He'll throw it to any hitter in any count, and it stays on the fastball plane for a long time with late, hard fade." Bremner stands 6'2" and weighs 190 lbs, posting a 3.49 ERA across 77.1 innings this season, a dip from his 2.54 ERA across 88.2 innings in 2024. Philadelphia Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski (left) and manager Rob Thomson (59) (right) watch bullpen sessions spring training workouts at BayCare Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images Bremner is ranked as the 14th overall prospect in the draft, so the Phillies nabbing him at 26 would be a steal. 2024 was his first full year as a starting pitcher, while he has also frequently pitched from the bullpen in the past. Advertisement "Bremner dropped in our rankings because of a slow start this spring, but he finished strong and could offer some value and upside at the back of the first round," Callis and Mayo wrote. Once the young pitcher gets work with a professional coaching staff, he could offer some significant upside as a reliever in the near future.
