Leighton Meester breaks her silence on ‘Gossip Girl' costar Michelle Trachtenberg's death
Leighton Meester is opening up about her former 'Gossip Girl' costar's shocking death.
The actress, 39, shared that the news of Michelle Trachtenberg's death hit her particularly hard because they were the same age.
'It's devastating,' Meester revealed to Flaunt Magazine. 'She was a wonderful, talented person, and everyone loved her. It's very, very sad for everyone who knew her.'

The 'Good Cop/Bad Cop' star also reflected on the hit CW drama airing for six seasons from 2007 to 2012.
'Now, I can see that [the show's legacy] continues — in some ways, even more so than back then — to live on, which is incredible,' Meester told the outlet.
On the series, the 'That's My Boy' actress played Blair Waldorf while the 'Harriet the Spy' alum starred as Georgina Sparks.

Penn Badgley, who portrayed Dan Humphrey, broke his silence on Trachtenberg's death, telling E! News in April that her passing was 'really surreal, really saddening.'
'What I remember of her is she was incredibly quick to laugh,' the actor, 38, added. 'She was really joyous.'
Although they hadn't crossed paths in over 10 years, Badgley said Trachtenberg had a 'really pure heart.'

Blake Lively (Serena van der Woodsen), meanwhile, reminisced on Trachtenberg's 'electricity' on social media.
'You knew when she entered a room because the vibration changed,' the 'A Simple Favor' star wrote on her Instagram Stories in February. 'She laughed the fullest at someone's joked, she faced authority head on when she felt something was wrong, she cared deeply about her work, she was proud to be a part of this community and industry as painful as it could be sometimes, she was fiercely loyal to her friends and brave for those she loved, she was big and bold and distinctly herself.'
Lively, 37, noted she'll remember how the late star 'always had yummy caramel smelling lipgloss on.'

'Because she didn't just want to sparkle on camera,' she continued, 'she liked creating a nice experience for anyone who was in her orbit, even down to the subtle smell of her lipgloss because she cared about the sweet details.'
Trachtenberg died due to complications from diabetes at age 39. She was found by her mother on Feb. 26 in her Central Park South apartment and had previously undergone a liver transplant in the last year.
'It is with great sadness [we] confirm that Michelle Trachtenberg has passed away,' Trachtenberg's rep Gary Mantoosh confirmed in a statement to The Post. 'The family requests privacy for their loss. There are no further details at this time.'

Sources initially speculated that the transplant might have played a part in her passing.
The NYPD confirmed Trachtenberg was found 'unconscious and unresponsive' by police and pronounced dead by EMS workers. They responded to the building after a 911 call reporting a woman in cardiac arrest.
In the months before her death, fans were concerned that Trachtenberg appeared gaunt in her social media pictures.
But, last January, she responded to fan concerns, sharing she was 'happy and healthy' and had never had plastic surgery.

Many other fans and former co-stars took to social media to share their condolences over the heartbreaking death, including another 'Gossip Girl' vet, Ed Westwick.
'So sad to hear of the passing of @michelletrachtenberg,' the 37-year-old wrote on his Instagram Story alongside a snap of the late actress on the series.

Martha Stewart sparks hot dog debate over ‘diabolical' condiment
A lifestyle and culinary icon recently took a firm position on the age-old debate of whether ketchup belongs on hot dogs or not. Martha Stewart, founder of Martha Stewart Living, expressed her opinion in an Instagram reel on June 17. 'I love hot dogs with the works,' Stewart said in the video. She added, 'It has to have bacon, mustard, ketchup, relish, sauerkraut.' Her endorsement of ketchup on hot dogs polarized some of her fans — especially those in the Windy City. 'I love Martha, but ketchup on a hot dog is f—ing diabolical,' one user wrote. 'As a Chicagoan, I cannot abide the ketchup on a hot dog,' another chimed in. 'That'll get you thrown right out of that town faster than disliking deep dish pizza.' 5 Martha Stewart has weighed in on whether ketchup belongs on hot dogs or not. Getty Images 5 'It has to have bacon, mustard, ketchup, relish, sauerkraut,' Stewart said about hot dogs. Brent Hofacker – But others appreciated Stewart's vision and spoke out in favor of condiment-packed hot dogs. 'Martha knows what she's talking about,' a ketchup enthusiast wrote. 'Me too, Martha,' another said. Stewart took the pro-ketchup stance after sharing her Chicago-style hot dog recipe earlier in June, writing that 'there's really only one steadfast rule – no ketchup.' Her comment referred only to Chicago-style hot dogs, though. 5 'Martha knows what she's talking about,' a ketchup enthusiast wrote. WS Studio – Still, some of her fans thought she was in their anti-ketchup camp. 5 'There's really only one steadfast rule – no ketchup,' Stewart said, referring only to Chicago-style hot dogs. Getty Images for Netflix One admirer wrote, 'Absolutely NO ketchup – love you, Martha!' Another chimed in, 'Yes, queenie, no ketchup.' One brave commenter came out in support of ketchup on hot dogs – and was promptly shut down. 5 Fans in the Windy City were not fond of those putting ketchup on hotdogs. DAVID – 'Ketchup is a MUST,' the ketchup fan wrote. 'Not in Chitown,' an Instagram user wrote. 'Not in Chicago,' another repeated. So why is ketchup considered such a controversial addition to hot dogs? Chris Christou, owner of Poochie's Hot Dogs in Chicago, told Fox News Digital his rationale behind skipping ketchup. Christou said the tomato-based condiment's flavor is too overpowering for a Chicago-style hot dog. 'I always felt like ketchup, because of its sweetness, overpowered the rest of the condiments,' the restaurateur said. 'Especially the yellow mustard and dill pickle.' But some devil's advocates continue to support the sweet-and-sour condiment. 'Not only does it enhance the flavor, but adding ketchup offers some real health benefits.' New Jersey-based dietitian Erin Palinski-Wade told Fox News Digital she encourages incorporating ketchup into more meals. 'You need ketchup on your hot dog,' she said, sharing her insights as 'a registered dietitian and mom of three,' she added. 'Not only does it enhance the flavor, but adding ketchup offers some real health benefits.' The dietitian said ketchup contains high amounts of lycopene, which has cancer-fighting properties. '[These] benefits [are] thanks to its high content of lycopene, which is more bioavailable in ketchup versus raw tomatoes due to the cooking process involved in making ketchup.' Palinski-Wade added, 'Studies link higher dietary intake of lycopene from tomatoes and ketchup with a reduced risk of stomach and prostate cancer, thanks to lycopene's antioxidant and anticancer properties.' Fox News Digital reached out to Stewart for comment.

The world's No. 61 player is alleged to be having a years-long affair with model Azuki Oguchi by Japanese tabloid Shukan Bunshun. Nishikori gave a statement to the outlet. 'I deeply apologize for causing discomfort to everyone who supports me: tennis fans, associations, sponsors, and other related parties, and for their concern and inconvenience due to my dishonest behavior,' Nishikori said in a statement. 'Additionally, I deeply regret making my wife and children feel hurt. 5 Nishikori with wife Mai Yamaguchi on their wedding day. 5 32-year-old model Azuki Oguchi, alleged mistress of Kei Nishikori. Joy Behar hopes to ‘actually influence people's thinking' with her criticism of the Trump administration
'The View' co-host Joy Behar said she felt an obligation to speak out about President Donald Trump's administration on Wednesday and said she hoped to influence people's thinking during a 'Behind the Table' discussion. Producer Brian Teta asked Behar, who has been with the show for 26 years, what she likes about doing the ABC talk show and why she's been on it for so long. 'It's because of the freedom to speak my mind, that has always been the attraction,' she responded, before talking about other parts of her career. 'I like the people I work with, number one, I like everybody.' 'I also feel an obligation to speak about the administration that we're in the midst of, and I feel like we're in a privileged position to say certain things and that we, you know, we can actually influence people's thinking sometimes, even if it's a little bit, that we're in a lot of trouble in this country right now, and that I like the idea that we can say stuff that people will listen to,' she said. 5 Producer Brian Teta asked Behar, who has been with the show for 26 years, what she likes about doing the ABC talk show and why she's been on it for so long. 'We can show them the way they are in real life, the way they really are,' Behar said. 'I've met Hillary Clinton many times. She's different when she's running for office, and she's all scared to make a mistake. When she's herself, she's very funny. She should have come on 'The View' more, I think at that time. In fact, somebody screwed her up, somebody in her campaign said, 'don't go on,' and it was a big mistake.' Behar said Clinton was a grandma, wife and mother and was much more than just someone who ran for office. 5 Behar was also asked about the many political figures she's gotten to interview on the show and about why politicians come on the talk show. Disney General Entertainment Content via Getty Images The co-hosts also talked about Sunny Hostin's viral question posed to former Vice President Kamala Harris last year during the 2024 campaign, as Teta joked that the liberal co-host had 'single-handedly taken down the Democratic Party' when Harris' bungled answer went viral. Hostin defended her question about whether Harris would have acted differently at any point during President Joe Biden's first term, saying it was one Harris should have expected. Harris memorably said she couldn't think of anything she'd have done differently than the unpopular Biden, and the soundbite became fodder for the Trump campaign that Harris was more of the same. 5 Joy Behar on The View holding a New York Post newspaper headline about Whoopi Goldberg. 'I knew it instantly when she answered it,' Hostin said during the podcast conversation, when asked by Teta if she knew it would be a viral moment. 'Which is why I asked the follow-up question, 'is there one thing?' Because I knew, I could see the soundbite and I knew what was going to happen, but I thought it was a really fair question and I thought it was a question that she would expect.' Every morning, the NY POSTcast offers a deep dive into the headlines with the Post's signature mix of politics, business, pop culture, true crime and everything in between. Subscribe here! Biden appeared on the show in May for one of his first interviews since leaving the White House. The former president blamed racism and sexism for Harris' loss during the conversation. 'I wasn't surprised, not because I didn't think the vice president was the most qualified person to be president,' Biden said. 'She is. She's qualified to be President of the United States of America. I was surprised because they went the route of, the sexist route, the whole route. I mean, this is a woman, she's this, she's that. 'I mean, I've never seen quite as successful and a consistent campaign undercutting the notion that a woman couldn't lead the country, and a woman of mixed race.'
