Sacramento Kings ‘motivated' to find point guard solution, express interest in 4x All-Star

The Sacramento Kings have had some really good point guards in recent years. One they traded for Domantas Sabonis (Tyrese Haliburton. The other, De'Aaron Fox, was traded for Zach LaVine plus three first-round picks.
Now, according to Grant Afseth of RG Media, the Kings are once again 'motivated' to find a new point guard solution. They've even reportedly expressed an interest in landing one of two All-Star guards, Darius Garland or even a big fish, like Trae Young.

Some might say the Kings should try finding their next point guard in the draft instead of chasing someone like Garland, who's 25 years old. Meanwhile, Young, while he has a tantalizing skillset, is already 26 years old.
While Garland has been linked in trade rumors, there is no guarantee that the Hawks will make Young available this offseason. If they did, it would likely take a pretty large trade offer to pry the four-time All-Star away from Atlanta.
The Kings don't have a first-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, so it makes some sense that they'd target a proven solution at the point guard position in an attempt to win as many games as possible next season. Yet, is that the best path toward helping them win a championship?

As a member of the Chicago Bulls, he suffered a meniscus tear in January 2022, and although he was initially expected to miss up to eight weeks, he ended up being out of action for nearly three calendar years. He ultimately underwent multiple surgical procedures as a result of the injury. Although he returned to action on Nov. 27, 2024, he only played in 35 games afterward. For the season, he averaged 7.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 22.2 minutes a game while shooting 36.6% from the field.

Associated Press NEW YORK (AP) — Luke Weaver felt fine about everything in his return for the New York Yankees — except the fastball Ramon Urias hit for a go-ahead homer in the eighth inning. Weaver was activated from the injured list Friday, but his first game back from a strained left hamstring was spoiled when Urías poked a full-count 96.4 mph fastball into the first row of the right field seats for the Baltimore Orioles. 'I feel great,' Weaver said after taking the loss in the Yankees' 5-3 defeat. 'The only thing that hurts is my heart and mind. So, at the end of the day, my leg feels great. The velocity's there. All the pitches are there. So, I had everything I needed to be successful. It's just a game which (it) didn't happen.' After jogging in from the bullpen to the 'Imperial March' from Star Wars and Gary Wright's 'Dreamweaver,' Weaver got ahead with his fastball and changeup. He threw two changeups to even the count and another fastball for a full-count. On the next pitch, Urías hit a 337-foot jump that just went over the leaping try of Aaron Judge and deflected off a fan's shirt in the first row. Following the homer, Weaver struck out Colton Cowser but walked Gary Sanchez and allowed a single to pinch-hitter Ryan O'Hearn.
