Kajol reveals having problems in her marriage with Ajay, 'Whatever complaints I had...'
In the glitzy and glamorous life of Bollywood, it's often the dazzling and the picture-perfect life of celebrities that takes the center stage, but what happens when the curtains fall is a lot more than what meets the eye. We often idealize the relationships and marriages of celebrities, considering their superficial, fairy-tale love as their ultimate reality. However, just like every real relationship, celebrity dynamics also have their fair shares of ups and downs, which might not come out in the spotlight but still prevails.
One such story is of a Bollywood beloved couple, whose on-screen and off-screen romance is hailed and admired by many. However, recently, when the actress broke her silence on battling some challenges in her married life, we got to know that even their relationship hasn't always been smooth sailing.

She revealed some struggles that she faced initially. However, she also added that now the problems are resolved between the duo with understanding and communication. 'I don't have any complaints. Whatever complaints I had, we have resolved them, and they are way in the past.' She said. She even emphasised how all relationship goes through some challenges, but it's all about how one resolves a situation that makes the bond stronger.
Kajol and Ajay have been married for 26 years now. They first met on the set of Hulchul, which came out in the year 1995. The duo was dating for a few years, and in 1999, they tied the knot. She further revealed that even after so many years of marriage, the two have to maintain a balance between work and personal life. She laughingly said, 'Sometimes it felt nice that he was away, and sometimes I wished he was home'.
On the work front, Kajol is all geared up wth her upcoming film Maa. This Vishal Furia film will also feature Indraneil Sengupta, Rituraj Singh, and Sushmita Dey. Fans are eagerly waiting to witness Kajol's power-packed performance on screen.

Kajol recalls her first meeting with Ajay Devgn: ‘No lightning struck moment, we were both dating others at the time'

Kajol and Ajay Devgn , one of Bollywood's most enduring couples, didn't have the fairy-tale start many might imagine. In a recent interview with Radio Nasha, Kajol candidly recalled her first meeting with Ajay on the sets of the 1995 film Hulchul, debunking any romanticised notions of a 'Raj-Simran' moment like in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. 'He was just really, really quiet' 'There was nothing of that sort,' Kajol said when asked if sparks flew the first time she met Ajay. 'I mean, he was really, really like he is today also. He doesn't talk much. On set or off set, he's just quiet. A really, really quiet man.' She shared that during those long hours on set, she couldn't understand how someone could remain so silent. 'We've been sitting on set for 8-10 hours. Besides 'Hi', 'Hello', 'How are you?' — how can you not talk?' she said, joking that unlike someone practising Vipassana, normal people do engage in conversation. From opposites to soulmates Kajol admitted that their personalities were poles apart. 'I like people. I get along very well with certain people... and he was just really the opposite of everything,' she added. Interestingly, both Ajay and Kajol were dating other people at the time. 'So it was not a 'lightning struck' or anything like that. But yeah, I think eventually we kind of came together and yeah... we got married. Of course,' she smiled. Kajol Gets CANDID About Motherhood Lessons and Son Yug's Debut In 'Karate Kids: Legends' | Exclusive Kajol on navigating marriage and movies with Ajay In a separate interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Kajol opened up about the realities of being married to someone in the same profession. While she and Ajay have shared the screen in several films, she revealed that working together isn't always smooth sailing. '90% of the time, if he is going over the top, I just call him out on it — and he calls me out on it. We're not civilised. We will not take it to the corner,' she laughed. However, she added that such moments are rare since they work together 'once in five years.' Kajol and Ajay have two children, Nysa, born in 2003, who is currently pursuing her higher studies abroad, and Yug, born in 2010, who is still in school.

Nothing Says Ethnic Elegance Better Than Kajol's Bottle Green Saree

Kajol, at 50, is redefining the meaning of fashion. We have no complaints, as she is our go-to inspiration when there is a wardrobe crisis. Recently, the actress who will next be seen in the mythological horror Maa, attended an awards function and her sartorial selection left us taking notes (again). For the event, Kajol picked out a dark green saree that could borderline pass as a gown too. The elegant drape featured a full-sleeved blouse that fit her like a glove. It was a deep-scooped V-neckline number, coupled with backless detailing that screamed risque from a mile and a half away. But Kajol, being an expert in bold style statements, carried the fitted bodice with effortless grace. The pallu went across her shoulder, cascading dramatically, skimming the floor. The structured finish, void of any creases, underscored the impeccable tailoring. Metallic beadwork dotted along the borders added an extra dose of edge. They shone like orbs of liquid silver, contributing to the celestial shimmer. Even Kajol's petticoat was pleated flawlessly. We loved how she radiated chic sophistication in this ethnic spectacle. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kajol Devgan (@kajol) Kajol resorted to minimal accessories that perfectly suited the aesthetics of the day. She put on a pair of C-shaped chunky silver earcuffs. A few statement rings, embellished with emeralds and diamonds, sealed her jewellery game. Yes, she kept her neck bare by purposefully missing out on any heavy-duty choker. A pure and understated subtlety. On the makeup front, Kajol went with a dewy visage. No wonder her blemish-free skin elevated her allure a notch higher. Blush-dabbed cheeks created that rosy effect, while some contouring helped her achieve a natural bronzed glow. A few drops of highlighter were just the right beauty move, serving minimal glimmer. Kajol added a fiery depth to her gaze with a bold eyeliner stroke and an intense dash of kajal. Mascara-adorned lashes and glittery pink eyeshadow completed her glam deal. For the final touch, the actress tied her silky tresses into a pin-straight ponytail. Kajol's fashion diaries are worth gushing over. Agreed?

A battle of supernaturals: Kajol's Maa V/S Sonakshi Sinha's Nikita Roy

Bollywood's horror genre is experiencing a revival, highlighted by the June 27, 2025, clash between Kajol's 'Maa' and Sonakshi Sinha's 'Nikita Roy,' both women-led supernatural thrillers. This face-off reflects a growing trend of blending horror with comedy, folklore, and psychological elements, as seen in the success of films like 'Stree' and 'Shaitaan. On June 27, 2025, the Hindi box office is about to witness a fascinating face-off — one that's not between action heroes or romantic leads, but between two women-led supernatural films. Kajol 's Maa and Sonakshi Sinha 's Nikita Roy are both slated for release on the same day, marking a rare occasion when two horror thrillers with prominent female leads will go head-to-head. Exclusive | Kajol CANDID On Horror Fears and Son Yug's Voice Debut In 'Karate Kids: Legends' While the horror genre in Hindi cinema has traditionally been niche, surviving on loyal but limited audiences, the last few years have seen a gradual revival of interest in supernatural narratives. Thanks to films like Stree (2018), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022), and more recently Shaitaan (2024), the genre has been quietly reinventing itself, mixing horror with humor, folklore, or psychological thrill. This June's clash is not just a battle between two films, but a reflection of a growing trend in Bollywood's content landscape. The Contenders: Maa and Nikita Roy Kajol, who was last seen in the emotional drama Salaam Venky, returns to the big screen with Maa, a supernatural thriller produced by her husband Ajay Devgn 's banner. Directed by Vishal Furia, he film promises an unsettling blend of familial drama and supernatural horror. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Costco Shoppers Say This Wrinkle Cream Is "Actually Worth It" The Skincare Magazine Undo Kajol, known for her versatility, will be seen in a character grappling with the line between madness and possession. From Shreyas Iyer to Ibrahim Ali Khan: Nutritionist Nicole Kedia Breaks Down Celeb Diet SECRETS On the other hand, Nikita Roy directed by Kussh S Sinha, marks his feature directorial debut. The film stars Sonakshi Sinha in a role far removed from her earlier glamorous or action-oriented avatars. The narrative, interspersed with occult rituals and cryptic folklore, leans heavily into classic horror elements — creaking mansions, shadowy figures, and ancestral secrets. Both films are banking not only on their star power but on the promise of atmospheric horror that appeals to contemporary audiences who have begun to appreciate psychological and supernatural thrillers beyond jump scares. A Growing Appetite for the Supernatural This box office clash arrives at a time when Bollywood seems increasingly fascinated with horror and supernatural themes. The success of Abhay Verma and Sharvari led Munjya, a horror-comedy from the makers of Stree, reinforced the appetite for horror rooted in Indian mythology and folklore. Released last year, Munjya opened to solid numbers and positive word of mouth, proving that audiences are eager for stories that blend scares with cultural references. Moreover, the horror genre's viability was firmly reestablished with the blockbuster success of Shaitaan in 2024. Starring Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, and Jyotika, the film dealt with black magic and demonic possession and grossed over Rs 148 crore at the domestic box office. Its sequel, Shaitaan 2 is already in the works. In fact Ajay Devgn is also planning another horror film for his nephew Amaan Devgn who was launched this year with Azaad. Several more projects tapping into the supernatural are in the pipeline. Ayushmann Khurrana 's Thama, a horror thriller based on a legend, is slated for a Diwali 2025 release. Shraddha Kapoor , Rajukkmar Rao, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurrana and Pankaj Tripathi will return in Stree 2, one of the most anticipated horror-comedies of the year. What's Behind Bollywood's Horror Revival? The renewed interest in horror can be attributed to a few factors. Firstly, horror films have always offered producers a low-to-mid budget model with high returns. The genre's inherently immersive nature ensures a theatrical pull, as audiences still seek the collective experience of being scared in a dark cinema hall. Secondly, today's horror films are increasingly driven by narratives rooted in Indian settings, folklores, and superstitions. From the ghost of Stree to the demonic entity in Shaitaan, the genre is localizing its monsters, making them more relatable and hence more terrifying. Thirdly, filmmakers are blending horror with other genres — comedy, thriller, or emotional drama — broadening their appeal. Stree was as much a comedy as it was a horror film, while Shaitaan was a family drama interrupted by an unholy force. This fusion model allows horror films to tap into multiple audience segments. The Star Power Factor While the horror genre often leans on fresh faces or character actors, the current wave sees mainstream stars lending credibility to these films. Kajol, who seldom ventures into horror, choosing Maa suggests the genre's growing clout. Similarly, Sonakshi Sinha or Ajay Devgn or Shraddha Kapoor have also ventured into the space. Actors bring established fanbases and acting heft, which can help draw in audiences who might otherwise be hesitant about horror titles. The promotional material for both films has emphasized their strong performances and atmospheric storytelling, steering clear of campy horror tropes.
