Actress in grovelling apology after accusing Air India crash survivor of lying

An Indian film actress has been compelled to apologise publicly after alleging that the sole survivor of an Air India plane disaster was dishonest about his incredible escape. Suchitra Krishnamoorthi removed a contentious social media post in which she urged British man Vishwash Ramesh to face "some serious punishment" for allegedly fabricating his story. In her now-erased post, she questioned: "So this #vishwaskumarramesh lied about bng a passenger on the plane and the only survivor? This is seriously weird. Didn't his family in the UK corroborate his story?". She continued with her scepticism, asking: "What about his brother's funeral that he was seen giving kandha to? Deserve not only some serious punishment but some mental asylum time if this is true uff." Her remarks incited anger and prompted people to demand an explanation. She subsequently retracted her original post and issued an apology, reports the Mirror. Her statement of regret affirmed: "Took out my last tweet on the air india crash survivor. Seems to be false news circulated for God knows what reason. My apologies." The 40 year old British man, who had boarded Air India flight 171 destined for London Gatwick alongside his brother, miraculously survived when the aircraft crashed shortly after take-off, claiming the lives of all other passengers. The accident's lone survivor later related his feelings of "guilt" at having lived through the tragedy. Mr Ramesh has confided in friends about his profound grief, admitting he wishes he "was not alive" and tortured by thoughts that his brother might have lived. His brother Ajay was situated on the opposite end of the ill-fated Boeing 787 Dreamliner during the cataclysmic crash, while Mr Ramesh miraculously made it out with minor injuries after scrambling out through a gap in the fuselage. He agonizes over the thought that their chances of survival could have been doubled had they sat together as he had tried to arrange before the flight. The bereaved father lamented that he had attempted to secure adjacent seats, but his plans were thwarted because one was already occupied. Describing his heartbreaking ordeal, he said: "If we had been sat together we both might have survived. I tried to get two seats together but someone had already got one. Me and Ajay would have been sitting together." Haunted by the loss, he shared: "But I lost my brother in front of my eyes. So now I am constantly thinking 'Why can't I save my brother?' It's a miracle I survived." Bearing the emotional scars, he expressed: "I am okay physically but I feel terrible that I could not save Ajay." Mr Ramesh, who is also a father, reflected with despondence: "I wish I was not alive."

Kajol: Ajay and I have tried our best to protect our children (Exclusive)

Actress Kajol isn't nervous about the release of her next, as much as she was while shooting for it. 'It was nerve wracking to actually shoot it, because it's a genre that is not one of my favorites. I'm braver off screen than I am while watching a movie,' she tells Mumbai Mirror. The actress plays a mother in her next a horror flick– Maa . Ask her if she drew inspiration from her real life experience while playing a mother on screen, and she replies, 'It happens inadvertently. I've been playing a mother for the last 22 years, day in and day out. It's not something that you can turn off. All mothers have this superpower within them that when they become mothers, there is this amazing thing that comes over you – whether you call it obsession, or whatever you may call it, otherworldly power within you. Mothers are super protective of their children and always have been. They're called mama bears because you've seen a mama and she's one real dangerous thing in action. We've pretty much taken that basic instinct and worked through it and made a film over it.' For Kajol the Mama Bear side of hers has come out often. 'It comes out. Of course we have tried, both Ajay and I, have tried our best to protect our children as much as we can. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Buy Brass Idols - Handmade Brass Statues for Home & Gifting Luxeartisanship Buy Now Undo But I also think that you can't protect them too much because life is life, the world is the world, and they have to learn how to deal with everything. And we may or may not always be there, to back them up, hold their hands or stand behind them,' she adds. Kajol teams up with Vishal Furia , for the movie. Ask her how she manages the power dynamics on the set, and she replies, 'Tomorrow, if I really want to do something, nobody's going to stop me if I really believe and I'm convinced that this is the right thing for me to do. Nobody is really going to turn around and tell me that, listen, no, we can't. As an actor, I do believe that the director is the captain of the ship.'

Air India Plane that Crashed Killed All Passengers but One Had Recently Been Fitted with New a Engine, Airline Chairman Reveals

The Air India plane that crashed last week, claiming the lives of at least 270 people, had one of its engines replaced recently, the airline's chairman said. Flight AI171 went down less than a minute after taking off from Ahmedabad last Thursday, crashing into a medical college hostel. The crash killed 241 of the 242 passengers onboard, along with several more people on the ground. Speaking to an Indian news outlet, Air India Chairman N. Chandrasekaran said that both of the aircraft's engines had a "clean" operational record. Several theories have surfaced since the crash, but the actual cause is yet to be determined as investigations continue into the incident. Chilling New Details Emerge "The right engine was a new engine put in March 2025. The left engine was last serviced in 2023 and due for its next maintenance check in December 2025," Chandrasekaran said. As investigators sift through the wreckage and examine the flight data retrieved from the aircraft's black boxes—both recovered earlier this week—Chandrasekaran urged the public to avoid jumping to conclusions about the cause of the crash. "There are a lot of speculations and a lot of theories. But the fact that I know so far is this particular aircraft, this specific tail, AI171, has a clean history. "I am told by all the experts that the black box and recorders will definitely tell the story. So, we just have to wait for that." Meanwhile, the only person to survive the crash, 40-year-old British citizen Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, revealed he is struggling with deep survivor's guilt following the loss of his brother Ajay, who was also on the flight. Ramesh said that he had initially tried to book two adjacent seats on flight AI171, which crashed into a heavily populated area of Ahmedabad shortly after takeoff. However, by the time he finalized the booking, he had no choice but to select two separate seats located in row 11. Ramesh said: "If we had been sat together we both might have survived. I tried to get two seats together but someone had already got one. Me and Ajay would have been sitting together. "But I lost my brother in front of my eyes. So now I am constantly thinking 'Why can't I save my brother?'" Narrow Escape Ramesh, who was seated near one of the aircraft's emergency exits, managed to escape by crawling through a gap in the mangled fuselage of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. His brother Ajay, seated in 11J, was killed along with 240 other passengers and crew members. Ramesh even tried to get back to the burning aircraft to save his brother but he was stopped by emergency workers. Emergency worker Satinder Singh Sandhu said: "I walked nearer to Mr Ramesh, grabbed him by the arm and led him away to a waiting ambulance. I had no idea that he was a passenger on the plane and thought he was a resident of the hostel or a passerby. "He was very disoriented and shocked and was limping. There was also blood on his face, but he was able to speak. "He told the paramedics that he was flying to London when the plane fell and that he wanted to go back to save his family." Vishwash, with bandages on his face, was seen yesterday carrying his brother's coffin during a funeral ceremony held in Gujarat. Later, he broke down in grief and had to be escorted away.
