Saudi Electricity Company boosts Hajj grid capacity by 75%

The Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has significantly increased the electrical grid capacity in the holy sites for this Hajj season by over 75% compared to last year, investing more than SAR3 billion in development projects.
This enhancement, guided by government directives and Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, stems from a thorough review of past Hajj seasons and anticipated needs, reported SPA.
SEC stated that projects were implemented early, ensuring full load connectivity for network reliability.
The operations and management center in the holy sites is now equipped with advanced, AI-supported technical applications for comprehensive system monitoring, with equipment connected via fiber optics for rapid information flow and timely decision-making by trained national cadres, said the report.
SEC has also developed a robust emergency plan, deploying over 2,200 engineers, technicians, and specialists across 57 strategically located centers to ensure a response time of under five minutes anywhere in the holy sites, it added.

HM King checks on Bahraini pilgrims' wellbeing

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa held a telephone call with Shaikh Adnan bin Abdullah Al Qattan, Head of Bahrain's Hajj Mission. HM the King inquired about the wellbeing of Bahraini pilgrims following the completion of their Hajj rituals and commended the efforts of the Bahraini Hajj Mission in providing seamless services and support to ensure the pilgrims could perform their rites with ease and reassurance. He also expressed his sincere appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, for the extensive efforts and facilities made available to serve the pilgrims in the holy sites. Shaikh Al Qattan thanked HM King Hamad for his guidance and for his continued support for the comfort and welfare of Bahraini pilgrims. He lauded His Majesty's ongoing support for the mission's work in serving pilgrims from the Kingdom.

DHL Group to invest more than $571m in Middle East

Saudi Arabia To Resume Umrah Visas From June 10

Saudi Arabia will resume issuing Umrah visas on Tuesday, June 10, paving the way for international pilgrims to return to the holy cities of Mecca and Medina—just days after concluding one of the safest and most efficiently managed Hajj seasons. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah earlier confirmed the start of the new Umrah season, noting that the first wave of foreign pilgrims is expected to arrive on Wednesday, June 11. According to the ministry's official calendar, visa issuance will begin on June 10 (14 Dhul Hijjah 1446). Umrah companies and international agents were instructed to finalize their service agreements no later than May 27 (29 Dhul Qadah 1446). The announcement comes on the heels of a successful Hajj season that saw participation from more than 1.6 million pilgrims from around the world. Unlike Hajj, Umrah is not restricted to specific dates and can be performed year-round. The upcoming Umrah cycle will extend into 2026 (1447H). Further updates are expected in the coming months regarding pilgrim quotas, travel guidelines, and health protocols. Saudi Arabia traditionally suspends Umrah visa issuance several weeks before the Hajj season to ensure the smooth organization and execution of the annual pilgrimage. This pause enables authorities to dedicate their full logistical, health, and security resources to managing the significantly higher influx of Hajj pilgrims, who arrive over a much shorter period.
