New data show TREMFYA® (guselkumab) is the only IL-23 inhibitor proven to significantly inhibit progression of joint structural damage in active psoriatic arthritis

BARCELONA, June 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) today announced findings from the Phase 3b APEX study showing that TREMFYA® (guselkumab) significantly reduced both signs and symptoms of active psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and inhibited progression of joint structural damage at 24 weeks compared to placebo.1 These data from a late-breaking abstract are among the 30 oral and poster presentations Johnson & Johnson is highlighting at the European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR) 2025 Congress.
In the Phase 3b APEX study, TREMFYA® significantly inhibited progression of joint structural damage, including joint erosions and space narrowing, in patients with active PsA at Week 24 as assessed by the PsA modified van der Heijde-Sharp (vdH-S) score. The mean change from baseline to Week 24 in the modified van der Heijde-Sharp (vdH-S) score was 0.55 and 0.54 for patients receiving TREMFYA® every four weeks (Q4W) and every eight weeks (Q8W) respectively, compared with 1.35 in the placebo group (p=0.002 for Q4W and p<0.001 for Q8W dosing versus placebo, respectively). In the two TREMFYA® dose groups, 67% (Q4W) and 63% (Q8W) of patients experienced no radiographic progression, versus 53% in the placebo group.a,1

ABOUT THE APEX STUDY ( NCT04882098 )
APEX is a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study in patients with active PsA who are biologic naïve and have had an inadequate response to standard therapies (e.g., csDMARDs, apremilast, and/or NSAIDs). The treatment duration includes a 24-week, double-blind, placebo-controlled period, followed by a 24-week active treatment period, followed by a 12-week safety follow-up period. For patients who agree to enter the long-term extension, an additional 2 years of active treatment period is scheduled prior to the final safety follow-up.9
ABOUT PSORIATIC ARTHRITIS
Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a chronic, immune-mediated, inflammatory disease characterized by peripheral joint inflammation, enthesitis (pain where the bone, tendon and ligament meet), dactylitis (a type of inflammation in the fingers and toes that can result in a swollen, sausage-like appearance), axial disease and the skin lesions associated with plaque psoriasis (PsO).10,11,12 The disease causes pain, stiffness and swelling in and around the joints; it commonly appears between the ages of 30 and 50, but can develop at any age.13 Nearly half of patients with PsA experience moderate fatigue and about one-third suffer from severe fatigue as measured by the modified fatigue severity scale.14 In patients with PsA, comorbidities such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, anxiety and depression are often present.15 Studies show up to 30% of people with plaque PsO also develop PsA.11

An obesity drug from China helped patients lose a lot of weight in a late-stage clinical trial, making it a prospective new challenger to blockbusters from Novo Nordisk A/S and Eli Lilly & Co. Hangzhou Sciwind Biosciences Co. said its drug, ecnoglutide, led to more than 15% weight loss after 48 weeks when given at the highest dose. Although the trial did not compare ecnoglutide directly with existing medicines, the results were very similar to what Lilly's Zepbound showed in previous China studies, Sciwind Chief Executive Officer Hai Pan said in an interview.

("Perspective" or the "Company") (NYSE AMERICAN: CATX), a radiopharmaceutical company pioneering advanced treatments for cancers throughout the body, today announced that alignment was reached with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to open the third dosing cohort (Cohort 3) of its ongoing Phase 1/2a clinical trial for [212Pb]VMT-α-NET in patients with unresectable or metastatic somatostatin receptor 2 (SSTR2)-positive neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) who have not received prior radiopharmaceutical therapies (RPT). Patients in Cohort 3 will receive up to four fixed administered doses of [212Pb]VMT-α-NET at 6 mCi every eight weeks if they weigh more than 60kg (133lb), or 100μCi/kg of body weight if they weigh less than or equal to 60kg. Observations of dose limiting toxicities (DLTs) in up to eight patients within 42 days of the first treatment cycle will be used to assess whether this cohort of patients have received maximum tolerated dose (MTD) or maximum feasible dose (MFD). Once a safety monitoring committee (SMC) has reviewed the data from these initial patients, it may recommend exploring alternative dosing and/or recruit more patients into Cohort 3. Perspective is notifying sites that Cohort 3 is now open for recruitment. Patients currently being evaluated for entry into the study will enroll into Cohort 3 if they qualify. Pending feedback from sites on operationalizing enrollment into Cohort 3, an update on pace of recruitment will be provided in due course. Lilly Obesity Pill to Rival Shots Holds Up to Scrutiny in Trial
Eli Lilly & Co. 's experimental weight-loss pill helped patients shed pounds without serious side effects in a clinical trial, burnishing the drug's blockbuster potential in the company's competition with Novo Nordisk A/S. The highest dose helped patients with type 2 diabetes lose 7.6% of their body weight, during the 40-week study, according to data presented Saturday at the American Diabetes Association conference in Chicago. The results, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, found no signs of liver damage in patients on the drug, easing concerns that Lilly's medicine might run into side effects that derailed earlier attempts to develop potent weight-loss pills.
