Hannah Hidalgo has one word for Notre Dame women's basketball - 'Unmoved'
Since Notre Dame women's basketball season concluded, it has seen a rash of players exiting, highlighted by Olivia Miles opting to enter the transfer portal instead of moving on to the WNBA.
The biggest name remaining was Hannah Hidalgo, and the Irish received great news on Saturday afternoon in a story penned by her in The Players Tribune. At the end she claimed 'I'm back and I'm ready,' confirming that she will stay another year in South Bend. A good portion of her letter was regarding her family, growing up with four brothers who embodied Dragon Ball Z and going Super Saiyan.
Hidalgo wanted to 'turn into a problem,' which very much looked like that for Notre Dame opponents over the last two seasons. This past year she averaged 23.8 points-per-game, 5 rebounds and 3.6 assists while shooting 46.3% from the field.
It's safe to say that Hidalgo went Super Saiyan on her opponents and that it will continue with the Irish next season.

Sophie Cunningham slams WNBA treatment of Fever guard Caitlin Clark

Superstars in the sporting world are treated differently from their colleagues. Fair or not, it is just the way the world of sports works. They get scrutinized, treated differently by refs, treated differently by fans, and ultimately receive special treatment, sometimes in negative and positive ways, from opposing teams. Caitlin Clark is a certified superstar and the face of the WNBA, which subjects her to all of the above. Most recently, things got testy in the Indiana Fever's WNBA game against the Connecticut Sun, and tempers flared around Caitlin Clark. In response, Clark's teammate on the Indiana Fever, Sophie Cunningham, leaned into being a force of backup for Clark as she was seemingly fed up with the treatment that the star guard was receiving. She spoke up to the media about the unfair treatment Caitlin Clark is getting from the WNBA. "During that, it was just part of the game. I think the refs had a lot to do with that. It was a build of for a couple of years now of them just not protecting, you know, the star player of the WNBA. So, at the end of the day, I'm going to protect my teammates. That's what I do, and I'm a team player," Cunningham said. Since the spat against the Sun, the Fever dropped their most recent game to the Golden State Valkyries to drop them to 6-6 on the season. Cunningham's defense of Clark has proven to excite fans of the WNBA and the Indiana Fever. Her jersey has since sold out on the Indiana Fever's official team store, while her social media followings have exploded. Valkyries Coach Sends Strong Message on Caitlin Clark

Valkyries Coach Sends Strong Message on Caitlin Clark originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Talking about how to stop Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark is much easier than doing it. First-year Golden State Valkyries head coach Natalie Nakase backed up her talk on Thursday night in an 88-77 win over the Fever, and she let everybody know. Advertisement Clark's seventh game of the 2025 season was one of her worst. She finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and nine assists, but went 3-for-14 from the field and turned the ball over six times in the Fever loss. The Fever star averages 19.9 points per game on 41.7 percent shooting this season. She also makes more than three 3-pointers per game, but Thursday was just the second game of her WNBA career without a three-pointer. Golden State Valkyries head coach Natalie Nakase (right) had a distinct gameplan for Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (left). Darren Yamashita, Kirby Lee-Imagn Images The Valkyries, led by Kayla Thornton's team-high 16 points and nine from Clark's former Iowa teammate Kate Martin off the bench, executed Nakase's strategy to shut down Clark impressively. Advertisement 'We were being disruptive, we know she doesn't like physicality," Nakase pinpointed in the postgame press conference. "And we know she wants to get back to that left stepback.' Their disruptive blitzes on ball screens forced the ball out of Clark's hands and led to several bad passes among her six turnovers. The Valkyries coach, who previously worked with the Las Vegas Aces and Los Angeles Clippers, said she has known Clark's tendencies since watching her play in college at Iowa. She also referenced them before the game when asked how she would stop Clark on Thursday. "She shoots from the logo, so you can't pick her up at a logo," Nakase said pregame. "That's a super comfortable shot. It's almost like a layup to her, especially going to her left.' With the win, the Valkyries improved to 6-6 on the season, including a 4-2 mark in home games at Chase Center, the arena they have dubbed "Ballhalla." Advertisement Under Nakase's leadership, they became the fastest expansion team in WNBA history to reach five wins. They will play the Fever again on July 9 in Indianapolis and once more at home on August 31. Paige Bueckers' Wings teammate gets ‘spark' claim after huge win vs. Sun

The post Paige Bueckers' Wings teammate gets 'spark' claim after huge win vs. Sun appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Dallas Wings defeated the Connecticut Sun by a final score of 86-83 on Friday night. Dallas has now earned two consecutive victories overall. Rookie Paige Bueckers led the Wings with 21 points and seven assists. Meanwhile, Aziaha James — another rookie who started her second game of the season on Friday — scored a career-high 17 points to go along with five assists and five rebounds. Advertisement 'Just proud of our group, Aziaha… Didn't play a ton of minutes in that first half,' Wings head coach Chris Koclanes told reporters after the win. 'And then was the spark that we needed… You saw in the third quarter, in the second half, like, that's Aziaha James… It's natural, right? Rookie year, you're feeling it out, when is your opportunity coming? 'For her to be able to respond the way she did was just fantastic. I know our team has been wanting it for her, so excited for her.' James was more aggressive on Friday than in past games. 'Shying from attacking the rim in these past few games,' James told reporters. 'I just had to turn a different mode, help my teammates out.' Advertisement She added that her 'main goal' was to attack the basket and get to the free throw line. James, who was selected No. 12 overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft, has had her playing time limited for the most part this season. She has now started back-to-back games, however. It appears that James is earning the trust of Koclanes. James has started over DiJonai Carrington in recent action. The Wings still believe in Carrington, but Dallas is now 2-0 with James in the starting lineup. Bueckers, the 2025 No. 1 overall pick, has received plenty of attention. However, it is becoming clear that Dallas features another reliable rookie on the roster. Advertisement 'Whenever my number is called I'm ready,' James said. The Wings' next game is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 3 PM EST. That contest represents the end of their current road trip before the Wings return home for four consecutive games in Arlington, TX.
