Wiz Khalifa doesn't believe the Earth is round: 'We live on a flat plane'

Wiz Khalifa seemingly believes Earth is flat. The 'Black and Yellow' rapper has rejected the notion the planet is round and is convinced that humans reside on a "huge flat plane". Asked if he thinks Earth is round, he said in a Patreon episode of 'The Joe Budden Podcast': "No. 'I just believe that we live on a flat plane, like a huge flat plane. 'It's only because I've travelled so much." But guest host and academic Marc Lamont Hill then asked Wiz if he had ever travelled to the edge of the Earth. Seemingly referring to the supercontinent of Pangaea, he said: "Nah, it's not that. I think that there's more masses than just what we see because it was one thing before and it spread out. 'Because when I travel, the routes that we take and how we do it, it's not possible to go up and down. You're just going straight. That's the only reason I think that." The 37-year-old musician also cast doubt on space exploration. He said: "I don't believe in space exploration at all. I don't believe that they explore space as much as they say that they do.' Despite his comments, the 'See You Again' hitmaker's latest album, 'Kush + Orange Juice 2', features a photo of a round Earth on its cover. The record is a follow-up to his 2010 album but Wiz recently admitted he "wasn't into doing a sequel" and "would always leave 'Kush + Orange Juice' alone", but his thoughts changed when he began working on the record. He told Grammy.com: "I just thought, 'What would be the most satisfying for the fans and the people who support me? Should I start over and do something brand new, or re-create something that they already love and that they're already used to?' "So that's what made me make the decision to work on a follow-up."

Gerald Griggs — attorney for Joycelyn's family — tells TMZ that they don't believe Kelly should be pardoned as he's still got a grip on Joycelyn. After Kelly's arrest in 2019, Joycelyn claimed that she was a 'Sex slave' who starved for days and was forced to call the singer 'Master' or 'Daddy,' in a Patreon post that has since been removed. She also said that the singer made her have two abortions in his home. Savage would disappear from the spotlight and her family believes that she is still with the singer despite his incarceration. Her family tells TMZ that they believe she's still alive and hope she's healthy and would love to speak with her. But despite Kelly's imprisonment, the family believes that he's never stopped using his control over their daughter and hasn't accepted responsibility for his actions. They would love nothing more than for him to spend every day of his 31-year sentence behind bars. Kelly was found guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking in 2021 in New York. A year later, he was hit with more charges and convicted for possession of child pornography and enticing minors for sex in Illinois. In 2024, scholar, author and activist Marc Lamont Hill was the victim of a terrifying attack during a speaking engagement that left him and those who witnessed it in complete shock. Hill, who has not previously spoken about the event, just gave us more details about the incident and the woman who instigated it. On the June 12 episode of 'The Joe Budden Podcast,' Hill explained that an alleged stalker attacked him with pepper spray at a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day event in his native Philadelphia, which took place across the street from his bookstore, Uncle Bobbie's Coffee & Books. The woman — who apparently believed Hill was part of a government plot against her — approached the stage where he was sitting and pepper-sprayed him. Hill shot behind the stage curtains until security could restrain the woman. 'She had written a letter to me, saying that she was trying to talk to me about how the CIA and Joe Biden were trying to frame her for murder,' Hill explained. A video of the incident has recently resurfaced on social media. Although the incident was extremely serious, host Joe Budden still managed to find a way to make a joke. When teased by Budden that the alleged stalker might have been upset about a romance gone wrong, Hill quickly denied having any ties with his alleged attacker. 'Not only did I not hit, I never met her before. It was clear she was a crazy person, right?' he asked. In case you were wondering, Hill, who has been outspoken about finding alternatives to calling the police, told Budden that he understood the woman was mentally ill and never planned to get law enforcement involved. 'You can hear me on the tape say, 'Do not call the police,'' he said. 'I walk it like I talk it. She was mentally ill. She had been stalking me for a couple of weeks, and I didn't know … I never met her before.' Hill shared more about how he's engaged with the woman's family since the incident on social media. 'I have worked with her family and community members to enable a restorative process. Through the process, I have learned that she did indeed suffer significant childhood abuse, as well as serious mental health challenges that continue to this day. Instead of criminal prosecution, I have done my best to make sure that she receives social and mental health support to help her heal as best as possible,' he wrote in part in a June 12 post on X.

YouTube says its ecosystem created 490K jobs and added $55B to the US GDP in 2024

YouTube released a report on Tuesday that shows just how influential the creator economy has become. YouTube says that its creative ecosystem contributed over $55 billion to the U.S. GDP and supported more than 490,000 full-time jobs, according to research by Oxford Economics. When YouTube talks about its creative ecosystem, it's not just talking about creators. This includes anyone who works with YouTube creators (video editors, assistants, publicists), as well as people who work for creator-oriented companies (Patreon, Spotter, Linktree, etc.). But these figures continue to grow, even in a time when venture capitalists are no longer pouring money into the industry like they were about four years ago. In 2022, YouTube and Oxford Economics reported that its creative ecosystem created about 390,000 jobs and contributed over $35 billion to the U.S. GDP, meaning that these 2024 figures jumped by 100,000 jobs and $20 billion. These numbers are so large because YouTube provides the most consistent and lucrative opportunities for creators. Those who qualify for YouTube's Partner Program can earn 55% of revenue earned from ads; even for mid-range creators (not the MrBeasts of the world), that can amount to several thousand dollars a month. While TikTok and YouTube Shorts have tried to monetize their platforms, the industry hasn't figured out a way to reliably distribute ad revenue among short-form creators. As both a fast-growing and often misunderstood sector, creators have been advocating for American institutions, from banks to the government, to better serve their industry. Some creators struggle to qualify for business credit cards or get certain business loans, regardless of their demonstrable financial solvency. These issues have become common enough to draw attention. Just last week, U.S. Representatives Yvette Clark (D-NY) and Beth Van Duyne (R-TX) announced their bipartisan Congressional Creators Caucus to support and recognize the potential of the creator economy.
