Motorcyclist killed in crash in San Jose
A motorcyclist died Thursday from injuries he suffered when his bike struck the side of a moving car in San Jose, police said.
At 6:47 a.m. San Jose police officers responded to the crash, which occurred in the area of Senter Road and Sylvandale Avenue, police said. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The Santa Clara County Coroner's Office did not immediately respond to a request to provide the victim's identity.
A preliminary investigation found that a man drove his 2015 black Chevy Camaro eastbound on Buckeye Drive onto Senter Road and was heading into the designated right turn lane for eastbound Sylvandale Avenue when it was struck broadside by the motorcycle, a 2004 silver Harley Davidson, according to police. The motorcycle was traveling northbound on Senter Road just south of Sylvandale Avenue at the time of the crash, police said.
The driver of the Chevy remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, police said.
The crash marks San Jose's 10th fatal collision and 10th traffic death this year, police said.
Police are asking anyone with further information regarding the crash to contact the department's traffic investigations unit at 408-277-4654.

An SUV slammed into an NYPD cruiser in a three-car smash-up in Brooklyn early Sunday, sending two cops and two other people to the hospital and landing a person in custody, according to authorities. A 24-year-old man was driving the 2024 black Chevy Suburban north on Coney Island Avenue in Sheepshead Bay when he struck a 2024 Volvo traveling west on Avenue U, cops said. OPP respond to multiple motorcycle crashes amid Friday the 13th rally
Multiple crashes involving motorcyclists Friday spurred Ontario Provincial Police to appeal for drivers to be more cautious. The collisions — which left at least two seriously injured — came as thousands of bikers descended on Port Dover for the famous Friday the 13th rally, which brings motorcyclists across Ontario, Quebec and the northeastern U.S. to the lakeside town annually. More than 100,000 attended last year. 'Please make sure that your head's on a swivel,' Sgt. Ed Sanchuk said in a video posted to social media around 5:30 p.m., just after a crash at St. John's Road and Highway 6 left a biker with minor injuries. 'You're paying attention to your surroundings, putting all the distractions away and just focusing on driving your motorcycle or motor vehicle.' Sanchuk said this was the sixth motorcycle-involved crash West Region OPP responded to Friday. Earlier in the day, around 1:30 p.m., Sanchuk taped a clip from Highway 6 and Concession Road 2, where a collision between two motorcycles sent one biker to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
