Motorcyclist killed in crash in San Jose

A motorcyclist died Thursday from injuries he suffered when his bike struck the side of a moving car in San Jose, police said.
At 6:47 a.m. San Jose police officers responded to the crash, which occurred in the area of Senter Road and Sylvandale Avenue, police said. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The Santa Clara County Coroner's Office did not immediately respond to a request to provide the victim's identity.
A preliminary investigation found that a man drove his 2015 black Chevy Camaro eastbound on Buckeye Drive onto Senter Road and was heading into the designated right turn lane for eastbound Sylvandale Avenue when it was struck broadside by the motorcycle, a 2004 silver Harley Davidson, according to police. The motorcycle was traveling northbound on Senter Road just south of Sylvandale Avenue at the time of the crash, police said.
The driver of the Chevy remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, police said.
The crash marks San Jose's 10th fatal collision and 10th traffic death this year, police said.
Police are asking anyone with further information regarding the crash to contact the department's traffic investigations unit at 408-277-4654.

Culver City man claims pair of thieves stole his classic car, motorcycle on Father's Day

A Culver City man says two thieves stole his classic car and motorcycle from his garage early in the morning on Father's Day while he was home all day. Daniel Chavarria told KTLA that he was home all day on Sunday and never realized his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and 1964 Chevy Impala were gone until he went to take out the trash later in the afternoon. Upon checking the security cameras inside his apartment complex's gated parking lot, he saw that two suspects had taken his property around 4:30 a.m. Sunday. Mother of missing Washington teen says she is being trafficked in Los Angeles Footage sent in by Chavarria shows one of the men inspecting the vehicles – including going under the hood of the classic Impala – while the other appeared to be talking on the phone to someone behind the car for almost the whole video. After seemingly passing the thief's inspection, he proceeded to the back of the Acura SUV parked directly next to the Impala; however, the car blocked what exactly he was doing. Chavarria did not say whether the Acura belonged to him or someone else. Spectrum says Los Angeles-area outage was caused by 'criminal act of vandalism' He did note that he was told to file a stolen property report with the Los Angeles Police Department but had to wait for their delayed arrival since many officers were dispatched to help with protest coverage. No sightings of the Impala or the Harley-Davidson were immediately reported. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. OPP respond to multiple motorcycle crashes amid Friday the 13th rally

Multiple crashes involving motorcyclists Friday spurred Ontario Provincial Police to appeal for drivers to be more cautious. The collisions — which left at least two seriously injured — came as thousands of bikers descended on Port Dover for the famous Friday the 13th rally, which brings motorcyclists across Ontario, Quebec and the northeastern U.S. to the lakeside town annually. More than 100,000 attended last year. 'Please make sure that your head's on a swivel,' Sgt. Ed Sanchuk said in a video posted to social media around 5:30 p.m., just after a crash at St. John's Road and Highway 6 left a biker with minor injuries. 'You're paying attention to your surroundings, putting all the distractions away and just focusing on driving your motorcycle or motor vehicle.' Sanchuk said this was the sixth motorcycle-involved crash West Region OPP responded to Friday. Earlier in the day, around 1:30 p.m., Sanchuk taped a clip from Highway 6 and Concession Road 2, where a collision between two motorcycles sent one biker to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The other biker — who Sanchuk said was also injured — fled the scene in a black Harley Davidson with damage to its right side. Police are encouraging him to turn himself in. Meanwhile, Burlington OPP also had calls stemming from the motorcycle rally, responding to a serious crash near Highway 6 and Haldibrook Road around 4:20 p.m. According to Sgt. Kerry Schmidt, a motorcyclist collided with an SUV making a turn in the path of rider. Dave Thompson, Hamilton paramedic commander, said a man in his 40s was taken to hospital in critical condition following the crash. Error! Sorry, there was an error processing your request.
