Simon Cowell sparks concern with outfit choice during London bike ride

Simon Cowell has baffled everyone with his bike-riding attire. The talent show judge was spotted by fans cruising around South London amid the heatwave, which has seen temperatures reach their hottest of the year thus far. But despite the 34°C blaze, which has seen health alerts issued across the country, Simon appeared to be dressing for a totally different season. Captured by TikTok user @plus44unrulyfluffy, the X Factor mogul cycled in Wandsworth wearing some weather-appropriate white shorts and a totally not weather-appropriate, erm, puffer jacket. The BGT judge completed his cycling look with his signature black shades. And he seemed more than happy to pause his ride for a chat with the group who just happened to be sitting in their car, window rolled down. Totally elated at the unexpected encounter, one guy behind the camera is heard declaring: 'Yes, Simon!' 'Are you really on your bike? I can't believe it,' a girl screamed. 'Why are you like this?', she asked him, to which Simon smiled: 'What?' 'On your bike, are you not scared?', she quizzed. 'Well, I got lost, but it is quicker,' Simon replied. 'Please, just go with God, OK?', the fan added as the hysterical interaction continued. 'I will, promise,' Simon beamed, flashing a wave and a thumbs up before cycling off. The whole situation was bananas, to say the least, and viewers in the comments were left in stitches, particularly given what he was wearing at a time when the rest of us are in tank tops and swimwear. 'why does he have a PUFFER jacket in this weather', wrote a puzzled @00unknownuser001. 'A puffer in this weather is crazy', echoed @dontreportedifuge. @kttnt_ added: 'whys he just out? no security? 😭' 'He seemed absolutely delighted with that interaction too 😭', laughed @northernchill12, with plenty of others loving how 'wholesome' it was. Equally amused, @simpleeeteee said: 'He stopped like he just saw his aunty and uncle in traffic tooo funny 😅' Others commented to say they've seen Simon out in the capital on his bike numerous times, just blending in with other commuters. He now rides with confidence; however, it took Simon a while to get back to leisurely cycling after an accident in 2020. The America's Got Talent judge broke his back in August that year after he fell off an electric bike that he was testing at his home in California. He required intense surgery, which included having a metal rod inserted into his back to stabilise it. Then, in 2022, Simon, who is a proud dad to 11-year-old Eric, suffered a second serious crash, after which he admitted he was 'lucky to survive'. Just 18 months after his first incident, Simon went over on the road near his west London home, having made a sharp turn around a corner in wet conditions and felt the bike go 'out from under' him. He was sent crashing to the ground, having been going at a speed of around 20mph. More Trending Simon was rushed to hospital and suffered a broken arm, a badly bruised cheek, and possible concussion. Thankfully, it did not lessen his love for riding, as, when asked if he would be giving up the hobby, he said in an interview later on: 'I'm still gonna stay on my bike. I'm obsessed with these things.' The ordeals also gave Simon a new outlook, as he later shared to The Sun that he 'was so close to living the rest of [his] life in a wheelchair.' 'It gives you a completely different outlook on life. In a positive way,' he said. 'It hurt—trust me—when it happened, but good things happened off the back of it.' Got a story? All the reasons Blackweir Live is a great thing for Cardiff

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info One of the things Cardiff is known for is being a great place to enjoy a concert. Cardiff locals are used to being treated to some of the very best music performances hosting the likes of Oasis, Taylor Swift, Stevie Wonder, Harry Styles and many many others over just a couple of years. This year that is no different, with Lana Del Rey, Stereophonics, Snow Patrol, Noah Kahan, Oasis, Stevie Wonder and Catfish and the Bottlemen, and many others, performing at the Principality Stadium, Cardiff Castle, Blackweir Live and Live at Bute Park. Despite Bute Park being a familiar host of events like the food festival, Christmas light trail and Tafwyl, this will be the first year of Blackweir Live, a new outdoor music venue in the heart of the city centre. Yes, we looked at some of the negatives and the complaint people have had and you can read that here. Today, we are looking at the positives. Noah Kahan, Alanis Morisette, Slayer and Stevie Wonder will all grace the brand new stage, with Kings of Leon having to cancel their show after their frontman Caleb Followill sustained a "serious injury". Many locals have opposed Blackweir Live citing the fact it makes the park inaccessible to locals, has a negative impact on the environment and leaves other venues in the city empty. However, there are many positives too. From superstar gigs to cosy pubs, find out What's On in Wales by signing up to our newsletter here . We looked at all the reasons why it's great for Cardiff. Lots to do in the city The vast number of performers coming to Cardiff this summer gives loads of people in Wales the opportunity to see some of their favourite musicians perform locally, meaning they don't need to splurge on hotels or expensive travel. With the cost of concerts continuing to rise astronomically, cutting these sorts of costs is more important than ever. Hosting such a variety of major events gives the city a real buzz which cannot be replicated on a normal day and I think anyone who's has been to a concert in Cardiff can vouch that it's a great city to enjoy a concert in. It puts Cardiff on the map Cardiff has long had a reputation for being a great place for live music and the more gigs the city hosts can only help to maintain its place on the global music scene. Ensuring this can only help make sure the biggest artists continue to visit the capital and keep giving people in Wales access to the very best concerts. Data from DEPOT Live, the organisers of Blackweir Live and DEPOT at the castle, shows that only 37% of tickets sold for Blackweir Live were to people with a CF postcode demonstrating the vast appeal of the events held in the capital. Concerts help bring a global audience to Wales and putting on a good show will attract more visitors to the city. Financial benefits Cardiff Council has argued that funds from the events at Blackweir Live will help protect grassroots music venues and the city's parks. The boost of visitors to the city will not only go towards supporting grassroots venues but also help support local businesses like restaurants, pubs and hotels by bringing more people into the city. Councillor Huw Thomas, leader of Cardiff Council, has previously said that figures show music tourists visiting Wales last year spent £276m, a hugely substantial boost to the local economy. Data from FOR Cardiff shows that this summer there's an expected attendance of over 900,000 in Cardiff over the course of 30 major headline gigs. Carolyn Brownell of FOR Cardiff said: "These concerts are not just cultural milestones – they're economic engines. They benefit everyone from hotels and restaurants to taxi drivers, retail operators and late-night venues. "With a significant proportion of tickets being sold to out-of-town visitors, the impact ripples far beyond the venues themselves."

Two stars quit ITV gameshow just weeks before filming second series

Two stars quit ITV gameshow just weeks before filming second series The show from the team behind BGT has been dealt a huge blow An ITV game show is due to undergo some big changes An ITV quiz show has been dealt a huge blow as two celebrity team captains have reportedly bowed out of filming a new series. Password made its debut last year, with the show becoming the newest addition to ITV's ever-growing game show line-up. Hosted by Stephen Mangan, it aired throughout September and October last year, and was created by the same team behind Britain's Got Talent and QI. ‌ The game show sees two celebrity team captains team up with a member of the public to win a £10,000 prize. Both captains are given a secret password in the show, which their team mate then has to guess based on a one-word clue. ‌ The first series saw Daisy May Cooper and Alan Carr take on the team captain roles, however it's been reported that the pair will not be returning for the second series. Daisy May Cooper has reportedly left ITV show Password (Image: Karwai Tang/WireImage ) A source told The Sun: "Password did brilliantly on its first outing and it's always a shame to make changes, but Alan and Daisy are both incredibly busy and diaries just wouldn't align. Article continues below "Something had to give and sadly it was their roles as team captains. But there's an exciting line-up of celebs ready to take part instead, and everyone's confident that the format works without them." Reach PLC has reached out to ITV for comment on the claims. The rumours come after Daisy and her brother Charlie, who starred in This Country with her, pulled out of appearing on the upcoming series of Celebrity Traitors. ‌ Just weeks before filming was due to commence, the two actors allegedly pulled out. It was reported that Daisy and Charlie had decided they did not want to be away from their families, reports the Mirror. Alan Carr was a team captain on Password (Image: Getty ) Daisy, 38, welcomed baby Benji with partner Anthony Huggins, 45, in June. She also has Pip, six, and Jack, three, from a previous relationship. Charlie, 35, has two children with his wife Leighanne. ‌ Meanwhile, Alan is part of the Celebrity Traitors line-up, alongside the likes of Stephen Fry and Jonathan Ross. He's also due to co-host the new series of Secret Genius alongside Suzie Dent, and has teamed up with Amanda Holden to work on another TV series, titled Amanda and Alan's Greek Job, which release dates yet to be confirmed. Amana and Alan proved popular with their other TV series, Amanda and Alan's Italian Job and Amanda and Alan's Spanish Job. Article continues below Password can be watched via ITVX
