Renée Zellweger would return to her iconic role as Bridget Jones if given the chance.
The 56-year-old actress first brought Bridget Jones to life in 2001's Bridget Jones's Diary, reprising the role in Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason in 2004 and Bridget Jones's Baby in 2016.
She has now told The Hollywood Reporter: 'I keep my fingers crossed that (author and Bridget Jones creator Helen Fielding) might want to share some more of her own experiences through the world of Bridget.'
Bridget originally appeared in newspaper columns for London's Independent before blossoming into a bestselling novel series and then a film franchise.
Renée added about where the movie series is at: 'My understanding was that this was kind of it, but I keep my fingers crossed that she might want to share some more of her own experiences through the world of Bridget.'
Mad About the Boy expanded the Bridget Jones universe by introducing new characters, including Chiwetel Ejiofor's Scott Walliker, a teacher at Bridget's children's school, and Leo Woodall's Roxster McDuff, Bridget's younger love interest.
At the February New York City premiere for Mad About the Boy, Renée reflected on the supposed end of the franchise, telling People: 'We've been forging this friendship for over 25 years together through this journey, shared journey, Bridget Jones' journey.
'It was both wonderful and really sad.'
On whether the film marked Bridget's final appearance, she added: 'That's what I understand. That's what Colin (Firth) said.'
Helen, now a parent to teenage girls herself, explained the ongoing appeal of Bridget Jones to younger generations: 'There is a new audience for Bridget in amongst 15- to 25-year-olds, and it doesn't require neuroscience to connect that with the effect of social media.
'As a parent with a houseful of teenage girls, I know how reassuring it is to share the feelings around these things and to laugh together about the issues.'

The film is directed by Simon West and he says it was a straightforward decision to cast Anna because of her existing bond with Wilson. The director explained: "It was just easy because they're friends. There's so much else going on in the film and putting a film together, you go, 'How can we make that relationship work the best?' And getting somebody like Anna Camp who is already her best friend and has already worked with her and they know each other's timing, it just makes the whole thing so obvious." Meanwhile, Rebel revealed that she went into "beast mode" when it came to her physical preparation for the movie. The Bridesmaids star told People: "I was pretty strong during this movie. I trained for a full five weeks and did conditioning for it, and then I had to be really kind of in beast mode, but I really enjoyed it, getting paid to almost be fit, which is really good." However, the actress explained that she was almost left "permanently disfigured" by a "freak accident" on set. She told Access Hollywood: "In a fight scene, a gun accidentally got whacked across my face. "It was just a freak accident, and my nose got split open, so I left set. It was my last night of shooting. I was like, 'How unlucky can I be?' "I was freaking out. They take an ambulance and they have to call a plastic surgeon, because if they didn't, I would have been permanently disfigured. So we got the plastic surgeon, they did all the stitches, and you can't tell now."

Danny Boyle had a 'nightmare' filming naked zombies for 28 Years Later
Danny Boyle has admitted it was a "nightmare" filming naked zombies for new horror movie 28 Years Later. The moviemaker has stepped back into the director's chair to helm the new horror - written by Alex Garland - 23 years after the pair's first film 28 Days Later hit cinemas and Danny has revealed they needed to take extra care not to have "naked" actors on the set because they had strict rules in place to protect the film's child star Alfie Williams. Speaking to PEOPLE, Danny explained: "I mean, if you're recently infected [with the zombie virus], you'd have some clothes, but if you've been infected for a long time, the clothes would just disintegrate with the way that you behave. "We never knew that [about rules governing nudity on set when there's a child present] going in, it was a nightmare." Danny went on to explain the work-around they came up with, adding: "Interestingly, because there was a 12-year-old boy on set, you're not allowed for anybody to be naked, not really naked, so they look naked, but it's all prosthetics ... "So it's like: 'Oh my God,' so we had to make everybody prosthetic genitals'." Danny revealed he was keen to push boundaries with the elements of nudity and gore in the film and he's glad studio bosses were supportive of his plans. He told Variety: "I think one of the wonderful things about horror is that you're expected to maximize the impact of your story. Everybody wants to do that with a drama, with the romance, whatever. "But with horror, it's obviously gonna be brutal, some of it. What we loved was setting it against an innocence that's represented by the various children in it, and also the landscape, the beauty of the landscape, the nature. "Having those two forces stretches your story as far as you can go, if you maximize them. That was our principle and the studio was supportive of that, of course they were." 28 Years Later is out this month and a fourth film in the series 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple - directed by Nia DaCosta with Danny as a producer - has already been shot ahead of a planned January 2026 launch date. However, the 'Trainspotting' moviemaker hopes to be back in the directing chair if the final movie is given the green light. The series was created by Alex Garland - who wrote the screenplays for all the films except for second instalment 28 Weeks Later - and started with Cillian Murphy's character Jim, who awakes from a coma to discover Britain has been plagued by a terrible pandemic known as the Rage Virus, which turns those affected turn into murderous zombies. Cillian makes a brief appearance in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple and is due to be given a bigger role in the untitled follow-up, but Alex Garland has revealed there's still no script for the next month. He told Variety: "The script isn't written. It's strange: There's a story, there's a plan, there's a structure ... So short answer: I've got the idea, I've got the plan, but there's not a script. I'm waiting to see what happens, I suppose."

Chace Crawford would be 'terrified' to watch Gossip Girl again
Chace Crawford has never rewatched Gossip Girl. The 39-year-old actor played the role of Nate Archibald in the teen drama TV series between 2007 and 2012 and admits that he would be "terrified" to see the show again now despite the "cultural relevance" it continues to have. Chace told People: "In a way (Gossip Girl has) kind of become almost classic. It really was of its time, though. It was just before social media, a little bit ahead of its time in that regard. But in watching, it's very campy. I forget how kind of campy it was. It's kind of fun in that way. "It's the music too. Before it aired, they gave a copy of the pilot to my parents, and my mom and my dad probably watched it about 20 times. Those songs from the pilot are so ingrained." The Boys star added: "I haven't really rewatched any of it. I'd be terrified. It's a bit embarrassing." Chace admits that, with the benefit of hindsight, he would play the part differently if he got the chance to do it again. He explained: "As a young man, you take yourself too seriously. I think everything's so precious, and you want to be this Marlon Brando. And I think there gets a point too in a show that's popular where you get your sense of identity and who you are kind of becomes wrapped up in not just that character or the character's popularity, but the show. "Some actor quoted like, 'Anyone who gets famous is an a****** for two years in their own way.' It can affect people in a really weird way. And it probably made me a bit paranoid at the time." Crawford states that he would tell his younger self to "relax" more about his acting career. He said: "I would just kind of tell myself to have fun, relax, everything's going to be okay, and it's just not holding on too tightly to your career or what you want to do and just have fun with it because you can kind of take yourself seriously." Chace also reflected on the huge tonal difference between Gossip Girl and the much darker teen drama Euphoria. The actor said: "And now the bar is in a different place. "It's Euphoria, which is very dark. I watched every episode of Euphoria. I loved it. But that's such a different show than Gossip Girl. It's definitely a lot of fun. It's campy, and it's just a blast that people still connect with it and still see us out in the world and come up and say hi."
