Elite 2026 4-star running back commits to Texas A&M over Texas
Texas A&M's recruiting success under coach Mike Elko has been nothing short of spectacular after landing three 2026 prospects since hosting 15 last weekend. Starting with three-star star quarterback/athlete Kaeden Johnson on Saturday night, four-star offensive lineman Samuel Rosebourogh followed suit on Monday night, and on Tuesday afternoon, four-star running back KJ Edwards rounded things with his pledge.
During his 2024 junior season, Edwards ran for 1,789 yards and 23 touchdowns on the ground, paired with 383 receiving yards and three touchdowns through the air.
Edwards is one of the top backs in the country, and by far one of the fastest athletes at any position, possessing track speed and elite footwork, which has aided in breaking leg tackles, while his upfield burst spells game over for defenders in pursuit.
After landing four-star back Jonathan Hatton early in the offseason, it was rumored that Elko and running back coach Trooper Taylor were looking to make another splash in the running back room. What's even more impressive is that Texas A&M was one of the last programs to schedule an official visit with Edwards, as Alabama and LSU had already hosted the elite back, while Texas was scheduled to host the Carthage (TX) native this weekend before he canceled the trip.
Just like Roseborough, Elko and his staff have beaten out the Texas Longhorns for another priority prospect, and it's fair to say that Edwards is one of the highest-ranked prospects on their proverbial big board. With two running back commits in the cycle, Hatton and Edwards represent the future backfield once Le'Veon Moss and Rueben Owens eventually depart, paired with incoming freshmen Deondrae "Tiger" Riden and Jamarion Morrow.
Like several of Texas A&M's 2026 commits, Edwards has immediate NFL potential and could become a future superstar in OC Collin Klein's scheme. According to 247Sports Composite, Edwards is currently positioned as the 42nd-ranked prospect in the class, the 3rd-ranked running back, and 7the th-ranked prospect in Texas.

Victor Wembanyama cherishes conversations with active NBA legends: 'When I'm told something, I don't forget it'

Victor Wembanyama could be the face of the NBA in a few years. For now, the 21-year-old San Antonio Spurs center is soaking up as much knowledge as he can get from the league's active legends. "I have a note on my phone with questions to ask the guys, KD (Kevin Durant), 'Bron (LeBron James)," Wembanyama said on stage at Fanatics Fest in New York Saturday. "I had the chance to talk to [Nikola] Jokić for 45 minutes at All-Star [Weekend]. And I'm taking notes." Advertisement Wembanyama added: "When I'm told something, I don't forget it. It's super precious, for sure." Wembanyama, a French native and soon-to-be third-year NBA player, shared the stage Saturday with James, as well as with seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Tom Brady, in a live version of James' talk show, "The Shop: Uninterrupted." The respect Wembanyama has for the future Hall of Famers he mentioned is certainly reciprocated. When James was asked Saturday how much longer he would play before retiring, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar joked that the 7-foot-3 Wembanyama — who led the NBA this season with 3.8 blocks per game — might send him into retirement. Advertisement "I can't play that much further," James said. "And the more and more time that I play, as long as he keeps smacking my f***ing shots into the stands, he's gonna make me retire." Wembanyama responded in jest that James, 40, might retire after him. Earlier this season, Jokić heaped praise about Wembanyama. "I think he's better this year than last year, and I think he's going to get even better," Jokić said of Wembanyama on Jan. 4, after Wembanyama's Spurs defeated Jokić's Denver Nuggets. "I think he's a special player. I think he's one of a kind and is going to be remembered forever." Advertisement That night marked the first dueling 35-point, 15-rebound performances in an NBA game since 2019. Wembanyama notched 35 points and 18 rebounds, plus a game-sealing steal off a pass from Jokić. Meanwhile, the three-time MVP recorded 41 points, 18 rebounds and 9 assists. When San Antonio announced on Feb. 20 that Wembanyama would miss the rest of the season with a blood clot in his right shoulder, Durant imparted impactful words just hours later, following a Spurs win over his Phoenix Suns. "I'm glad they caught this early," Durant said at the time. "That can affect your overall health. ... I'm glad they was able to catch that early. You've seen a few guys that had this and come back and play and finish their careers out. I'm thinking about Vic. I'm sure the whole basketball world is thinking about him right now. Somebody like that who has a strong mind, strong will to go out there and recover and get better, he's gonna put his best foot forward every day. I don't even know Vic well enough, but I can just tell that that's what he's about. ... I'm looking forward to seeing him back out there." The Spurs expect to have Wembanyama back for the start of the 2025-26 season. He's coming off his first All-Star appearance. Wembanyama was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 draft and became NBA Rookie of the Year that season.

USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino 'jealous' about Juventus White House visit

ARLINGTON, Texas — U.S. men's national team coach Mauricio Pochettino said he was 'jealous' to see Juventus and not the U.S. invited to the White House with both the Concacaf Gold Cup and FIFA Club World Cup soccer tournaments playing out simultaneously in the country. At a press conference at AT&T Stadium ahead of Sunday's Gold Cup group finale against Haiti, U.S. center back Chris Richards was asked if he saw teammates Weston McKennie and Tim Ream at the Oval Office with Juventus. As he started his answer, Pochettino interrupted with a smile joking that they were 'jealous.' Advertisement 'Jealous we didn't receive an invitation,' Pochettino said. 'The national team is playing here and it was Juventus there, no?' 'A little bit far from the White House,' Richards responded, with a smile. 'Maybe we will have luck and they will invite [us] one day for sure,' Pochettino said. Richards, who plays professionally in England with Crystal Palace, then continued his answer. 'I think that's one of the things that makes America beautiful is that we can have different opinions, but still be united,' he said. 'And I think in this tough political time, there's a lot of stuff going on in the Middle East, things like that, but I think one thing that we can do is kind of give hope to people. That's all we can do at this point. 'We're not politicians for a reason. So I think whenever we can give hope, whether that's by winning games or just kind of showing a united front, I think that's what we need to do.' McKennie and Weah were part of a delegation of Juventus players, coaches and dignitaries invited to the White House along with FIFA president Gianni Infantino ahead of their Club World Cup game in Washington D.C. on June 18. Over the course of a 16-minute appearance, the group stood behind Trump as the U.S. president Donald Trump discussed a possible attack on Iran, whether the U.S. Civil War could have been avoided and his administration's travel bans. He also quizzed them on whether a woman could get into their team. Weah seemed to shrug and say, 'Yeah.' Weah was later asked about the visit. 'It was all a surprise to me, honestly — they told us that we have to go and I had no choice but to go,' Weah said after Juventus' 5-0 win over Al Ain. 'I was caught by surprise, honestly. It was a bit weird. When he started talking about the politics with Iran and everything, it's kind of like, I just want to play football man.' Advertisement Infantino posed for photographs with President Trump and presented him with a FIFA Club World Cup jersey as part of the event. The FIFA president has a cozy relationship with Trump, visiting the White House several times and also accompanying him on a trip to Saudi Arabia and Qatar in May. The U.S. plays Haiti on Sunday in its group finale. The team has already advanced to the quarterfinals, but can secure first place in the group with a positive result.
