's Big3 basketball league. Her offense? Posting tweets about WNBA star Caitlin Clark during a Big3 broadcast.
The situation quickly blew up online, and now fans are divided. The firing happened just as Clark continues to dominate headlines and turn down huge offers from other leagues.
Rachel DeMita let go after posting about Caitlin Clark on June 14 during Big3 duties
On Saturday, June 14, 2025, Rachel DeMita was working as a courtside commentator for the Big3 league when she posted eight tweets mentioning Caitlin Clark. The posts went live during the Big3 broadcast, the same day Indiana Fever beat New York Liberty in the WNBA.
According to Front Office Sports, this was the 'final straw' for Big3 executives after months of concern.
Rachel DeMita, who turned 35 that same day, later read a termination letter from Big3 on social media. The letter said the league was 'dismayed and disappointed' by her decision to spotlight a rival league's player. Big3, which features retired NBA stars, was founded in 2017 by rapper Ice Cube and Jeff Kwatinetz.

Caitlin Clark turned down Big3's massive $15 million offer to stay in WNBA
Caitlin Clark has been the center of attention in women's basketball. Earlier this year, Ice Cube revealed on The Dan Patrick Show that Clark was offered $10 million for two seasons with Big3. The offer included bonuses and team ownership options.
Big3 co-founder Jeff Kwatinetz claimed the deal could have reached a $15 million total value.

Despite the offer, Caitlin Clark chose to stay in the WNBA. She is currently on a four-year contract with the Indiana Fever, worth $338,056. Instead of joining rival leagues like Big3 or the new Unrivaled league, Clark decided to focus on improving her game.
Her endorsements are massive—most notably an eight-year, $28 million shoe deal with Nike. On June 14, she played in a one-off game worth six times her annual WNBA salary. That same day, a controversial foul and fan backlash once again sparked debate about how the league is protecting its rising star.

Vancouver Canucks could give priority to Conor Garland's contract extension amidst increasing salary cap
Conor Garland (via Getty Images) Conor Garland will enter the final year of his current deal with the Vancouver Canucks, and the 2025 offseason is the first time the club can try to negotiate an extension that will take effect in the 2026–27 season. With Garland becoming more valuable on and off the ice, the Canucks have a significant choice to make about how to treat his next deal—particularly with the salary cap projected to continue to increase. What would a Conor Garland Vancouver Canucks contract extension be like The Vancouver Canucks' front office has a bit of work ahead of them in the 2025 offseason, with various roster spots that need to be filled. But of their in-house priorities, perhaps one of the highest should be getting Conor Garland signed to a contract extension. Garland's existing contract—a five-year, $24.75 million deal signed shortly after arriving in Vancouver—has an annual cap hit of $4.95 million. Cap percentage-wise, that amount will account for 5.18% during the 2025-26 season. With the NHL's salary cap, though, also expected to grow substantially in the next several seasons, Garland's next contract will be able to take a step higher in value without negatively impacting team flexibility. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Our one of a kind Patented Cold Water Extraction Process Superior Ginseng Undo With the NHL salary cap poised to surpass $104 million by the 2026–27 season, the Canucks had some wiggle room to provide Conor Garland with a raise while not making his cap percentage too high. If Vancouver wants to keep his cap hit in line with his current 5.18%, then a contract in the $5.4–$6 million range would work. A four-year projected extension at $6 million AAV would leave Garland's cap hit at around 5.7% in year one of the new deal. Assuming that the cap ceiling projects to grow up through the 2027–28 season to $113.5 million, that number would decrease to around 5.3%, essentially keeping Garland's value in proportion with team expenditure. As the financial climate of the league changes and the salary cap increases, a $6 million AAV might seem high now, but it can become a bargain within two or three years. Considering Garland's reliability, leadership, and goal-scoring, signing him early might end up being one of Vancouver's best offseason moves. ‘Full bloodied ... ': Stuart Broad's massive comment on Rishabh Pant's Headingley classic
India's Rishabh Pant does a cartwheel to celebrate after scoring a century on day two of the first cricket test match between England and India at Headingley in Leeds, England, Saturday, June 21, 2025, (AP Photo/Scott Heppell) Former England cricketer Stuart Broad praised Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant 's entertaining century against England in the first Test at Leeds, highlighting the dramatic innings that included falling scoops and run-out chances, while also commenting on Ben Stokes ' impressive four-wicket haul that restricted India to 471 runs. Broad emphasised the exceptional reception Pant received from the English crowd for his seventh Test century, noting it was one of the loudest celebrations for an opposition player in England. "It was really well appreciated, because it was so entertaining. We didn't know what was coming! There were those falling scoops, full-blooded shots, run-out chances... everything was going on. Everything you want as a Test match fan -- patience, leaving, then, a flair shot, putting the bowlers under pressure. The crowd really appreciated everything Rishabh Pant did. Box office - truly a box office innings," Broad said. Dominant India on Day 1! Jaiswal & Gill Hit Centuries | ENG vs IND 1st Test - Sahil from Leeds Broad praised captain Ben Stokes' performance with the ball, which prevented India from reaching a potential 500-plus total. "He is like: 'Give me the ball. I will show you how to do it -- this is how I want us to go about our business.' And let us remember -- Stokes is a cricketer who has not played much cricket this year, and yet he comes back and hits the straps straight away. He's looked like England's best bowler by far," Broad commented. Broad also expressed concern for England's batting prospects, suggesting that if Stokes could achieve swing and seam movement, Indian bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah could do the same. "Yes, he is their most experienced bowler, but he has also looked their best, and that is a concern for England a little. Because if Stokes can get it to swing and seam, then Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah can too. So, I do not think England will find batting quite as easy as the Indian batters did yesterday," he added. England chose to bowl first in the match, with India posting a substantial total of 471 runs. The Indian innings featured three centurions: Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 101 runs from 159 balls with 16 fours, captain Shubman Gill made 147 runs from 227 balls including 19 fours and a six, and Pant contributed 134 runs from 178 balls with 12 fours and six sixes. Ben Stokes led the English bowling attack with figures of 4/66, while Josh Tongue also claimed four wickets for 86 runs.
