Land Rover Defender and Octa get interior, exterior and tech upgrades
The Defender has received a number of upgrades including finishes, design, and technology enhancements.

Launched five years ago, the (Land Rover) Defender has received several upgrades, including finishes, design, and technology enhancements across 90, 110 and 130 body designs as well as the Defender Octa.
It gets a new headlight design with signature detailing and fog lights as standard, and flush rear lights with smoked lenses.
There are new exterior colour options that include Woolstone Green and Borasco Grey, enhanced detailing and upgraded materials, as well as a larger 13.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control is available as an option, while the Defender 130 is now available with an optional integrated air compressor. The Octa gets a new Sargasso Blue exterior colour, a Patagonia White exterior with Matte Protective Wrap and tactile textured Graphite accents.
Exterior
The Defender receives optimised surfaces for the new front and rear bumpers finished in Silicon Silver or Carpathian Grey Satin on most models, and a new textured pattern for the bonnet inserts and side vents, while the gloss black grille-bar with a dark oval badge is now standard.
It stands on newly designed 22-inch seven-spoke Diamond Turned Dark Grey alloy wheels.
Interior
The dash-mounted gear-shifter has been repositioned, and the centre console has been redesigned to make the most of the space on offer.
A new sliding section hides small items out of sight in a closed cubby, and as part of the Signature Suite upgrade, it gets removable side pockets and cable routing to keep items charged without wires trailing around the cabin.
There's still the option for the centre 'jump' seat for three-abreast seating across the front on most models.

The Defender gets a larger 13.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

For the first time, there's optional Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control that allows the driver to set a desired comfort level when negotiating rough terrain. The system automatically adjusts the speed to maintain the desired level of comfort while driving off-road.
A new Driver Attention Monitor features a driver-facing camera that provides audio-visual alerts that can be adjusted, enabled or disabled via the driver assistance menu.
Defender Octa
The fastest and most capable Defender yet, with a 467kW 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, gets a revised colour palette, which, in addition to the existing Charente Grey and Petra Copper, there's now Borasco Grey and Sargasso Blue with a coarse sparkle.

In addition to the existing Matte Protective Film available on all Defender OCTA exteriors, there's also an optional Patagonia White Matte Wrap.
There are also new Textured Graphite finishes with a matte surface and high-intensity metallic flake on key touchpoints on the exterior, including the front and rear bumpers, bonnet vent inserts, side fender vent surrounds and two-piece bonnet script with a Phosphor Bronze outer finish.
Chopped Carbon Fibre exterior and interior accents can now be specified as an option, along with four interior colourways and a choice of wheel and tyre combinations, including 20-inch forged alloy wheels.
Behind a chopped carbon fibre cover, there's a specially-integrated 4,500kg-rated winch.
The Defender range is priced from R1 801 100.

New Land Rover Defender 110 Trophy Edition honours adventures past
Land Rover is paying tribute to the iconic Camel Trophy cars of decades past with the launch of the new Defender 110 Trophy Edition. Though the British marque has stubbed out all reference to RJ Reynolds' greatest export, it's reigniting nostalgia through the use of Deep Sandglow Yellow paint: a modern day take of the distinctive hue that coloured all the vehicles that took part in the competition from 1980 until its eventual demise in 2000. A second shade, Keswick Green, is also available. No matter which you pick, both get a contrasting gloss black finish applied to the bonnet, lower body side, brake calipers and rear recovery eyes. Optional matte protective film is available to fend off bush rash. Other features include gloss black 20-inch alloy wheels shod with all‑terrain tyres, a dark rear scuff plate, gloss black wheel arch guards and a black front undershield. Trophy decals and badging adorn the bonnet, C-pillar and tailgate. Those rugged, khaki-wearing Camel Men of the 1980s and 1990s, however, might scoff at the illuminated Trophy treadplates and Ebony Windsor leather seats. Ditto the exposed cross car beam that wears laser‑etched endcaps with Trophy branding. Though they would probably be quite approving of the range of optional accessories that include an expedition roof rack, roof ladder, front/rear mud flaps, raised air intake for better dust filtration and side-mounted gear carrier providing space for muddy, wet or sandy items. Or, just maybe, a cheeky carton of ciggies to complement those pensive stares across the windswept badlands they've just tackled. Cue the Ennio Morricone... JLR trims margin forecast on US tariff concerns
British luxury carmaker Jaguar Land Rover lowered its fiscal 2026 earnings before interest and taxes margins forecast to 5%-7% on Monday from 10% earlier, amid uncertainty in the global car industry as US tariffs loom. Shares in the company's Indian parent Tata Motors slumped as much as 5.2% in early trade after the announcement. The revised EBIT margin forecast is also below JLR's reported 8.5% margin for the previous fiscal year ended March 31. JLR added it sees free cash flow of close to zero in fiscal 2026. The company, which derives more than a quarter of its sales from the US, had temporarily paused shipments to the country after President Donald Trump slapped a 25% duty on all foreign-made vehicles sold in the world's second-largest car market. The 'Defender' sport utility vehicle maker said it is reallocating available units to 'accessible markets', to boost profits. It added that it continues to engage with both the US and UK governments regarding a trade deal signed in May, which allows the UK to export 100,000 cars a year to the US at a 10% tariff, below the 25% levy for other nations. While JLR's 'Range Rover' SUV line-up is manufactured in the UK, the popular 'Defender' is made in Slovakia, a member of the EU, which does not yet have a trade pact with the Trump administration. The carmaker said it is assessing pricing actions in the US to help offset the tariff impact. Analysts have said JLR may be less affected by the increased costs associated with the tariffs, thanks to a wealthier customer base that is unlikely to be deterred by a bigger price tag. However, Tata Motors remains among the most exposed Indian carmakers to the US duties, as JLR lacks local manufacturing in the country, unlike most of its rivals, including German brands Mercedes-Benz and BMW.
