Abu Dhabi court orders company to pay Dh110,400 in unpaid wages
An Abu Dhabi labour court has ordered a company to pay an employee Dh110,400 in unpaid wages after it delayed his start date and did not let him begin work, Khaleej Times reported.
The First Instance Court said the amount covered four months and 18 days of salary. The man had signed a fixed-term contract that offered a basic salary of Dh7,200 and a total package of Dh24,000 per month. He filed a case asking for his pay from 11 November 2024 to 7 April 2025.
According to court documents, the company kept delaying his start date, leaving him without pay during that period. A representative of the company appeared in court, submitted a defence, and asked that the case be transferred to the proper division.
The court found that 'it was clear from the wage report, the employment contract, and the supporting documents submitted through the case management system that the delay in starting work was due to the employer,' Khaleej Times quoted from the ruling.
The court also referred to the law, saying employers must pay wages on time. It said that wages are a worker's right and cannot be withheld without clear proof, such as a written waiver.
The company argued that the man did not report to work and went on leave. But the court found no proof of this, saying there was no formal investigation into any absence. The man admitted to taking eight days off, which the court deducted from the final amount.

Cash, jewellery worth over Rs9L stolen from 2 bungalows in Nashik
Nashik: Two bungalows on Mahalaxmi Temple Road were burgled in the early hours of Friday, with cash and jewellery amounting to over Rs9.3 lakh reported stolen. The Upnagar police station has registered a case under sections 331 (housebreaking) and 305 (theft) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanahita (BNS). According to the police, unidentified individuals broke into the two adjacent, unoccupied bungalows sometime between 12:01am and 6am on Friday. From one bungalow, thieves made off with Rs40,000 in cash and gold and silver jewellery valued at Rs8.1 lakh. The second bungalow reported stolen articles worth Rs78,000. The thefts came to light when an acquaintance of one of the owners noticed the open main doors of the bungalows. He then informed one of the owners, leading to the registration of the police complaint. "We will check the CCTV footage in and around the area to determine if any movement of the burglars was spotted," a police officer said. House break-ins and thefts are a concern in Nashik city, considering that over 200 cases are registered every year, while the detection rate is less than 30 per cent. The police have been constantly appealing to the people to deploy security guards and install CCTV cameras in their respective areas. This can help in detecting the criminals, and the cameras also act as a deterrent for such offences.

Woman, her minor children abducted at gunpoint from M.P. found in Haryana; prime accused, six others held
The Madhya Pradesh Police on Sunday (June 22, 2025) found a woman and her two minor daughters, allegedly abducted at gunpoint from their home in Chhatarpur district, from Haryana's Bhiwani, police officers said, adding that a total of seven men, including the prime accused, have also been arrested. The alleged abduction took place on Saturday in Chhatarpur's Sumedi village, under Lavkushnagar police station limits, when about a dozen men, carrying firearms and sticks, took the woman and her daughters, aged 7 and 5, from their home in broad daylight at around 12.30 p.m. The men had also thrashed the woman's husband Hariram Pal and opened fires in the air before leaving in a car and motorbikes. A video of the incident has also gone viral on social media. Lavkushnagar sub-divisional police officer (SDOP) Naveen Dubey told The Hindu that the woman and children were found with the prime accused, identified as Sanjay Rajput, who had taken them to Bhiwani after the abduction. Mr. Dubey said that six more men, involved in the incident, have been arrested from different parts of Chhatarpur, while at least four police teams are currently conducting raids to nab others. 'All remaining suspects have been identified,' he said. 'Based on the inputs from the men arrested from here, we traced Sanjay Rajput to Haryana's Bhiwani and a team was sent there. The local police there helped us find them,' Mr. Dubey said, that the accused and the three victims will leave from Haryana after finishing the formalities at the local police station. 'They are expected to arrive here [Chhatarpur] on Monday morning after which we will question Rajput and the woman,' he said. Mr. Dubey said that the neighbours and family members of the woman have revealed that she and Mr. Rajput had been in a relationship for about two years. 'The family had known about this for a while and had asked him [Mr. Rajput] to stop coming to their house. They even had some disputes over the past few months and had a fight last week, after which he planned the abduction,' the SDOP said. Mr. Dubey, however, said that it is yet to be ascertained whether the woman had anything to do with the planning or if she 'went wilfully' with the accused. 'We will question her about these aspects once they reach here,' he said. After the video went viral, Chhatarpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Agam Jain had formed five teams to trace the victims and had also declared a reward of Rs10,000 on the accused. A case under relevant charges, including kidnapping, attempt to murder and assault, as per the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as well as under the Arms Act had been filed on Saturday, Mr. Dubey said. The police have also seized at least four vehicles involved in the abduction.

HMDA mulls land pooling to unlock potential
HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is finalising a proposal to implement Land Pooling and Area Development (LPAD) to unlock land potential, deliver planned infrastructure, and promote inclusive urban growth across the Hyderabad Metropolitan Region (HMR). HMDA will engage a consultancy to draft legislation, rules, and guidelines for LPAD and to implement a pilot scheme. Officials said that despite an existing master plan, its execution, especially of arterial and sub-arterial roads, remains inconsistent. This has resulted in landlocked parcels and unregulated development lacking proper road access, utilities and essential public services. In many cases, the authority is forced to provide infrastructure after unplanned construction, an approach seen as inefficient and costly. The present legal framework under the HMDA Act is considered inadequate to support integrated urban development. The proposed LPAD model, based on town planning schemes in Gujarat and Bhubaneswar, allows for equitable land reconstitution, integrated infrastructure provision, and phased release of development plots. HMDA aims to ensure road connectivity across HMR to prevent isolated land parcels. The authority plans to identify at least 10 potential LPAD sites, each measuring about 5,000 acres. The objectives include a review of all existing legislations, rules and guidelines for LPAD/town planning and local area planning in Telangana. After preparing concept reports, two projects will be shortlisted for pre-feasibility studies as part of the pilot initiative.
