Saudi Health Ministry honours Qatari Hajj medical unit for its outstanding services

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Health has honoured the Qatari Hajj Mission's medical unit, in recognition of its effective role in providing high-quality healthcare services in the 1446 AH Hajj season.
In this context, medical unit head Dr. Khalid Abdul Hadi received a certificate of appreciation on behalf his team.
This recognition reflects the medical unit's outstanding services, which stem from its objective of providing Qatar's pilgrims with a fully integrated healthcare system in Mecca and the holy sites around the clock.
The medical unit's clinics are staffed with a specialized medical team of various specializations, including internal medicine, cardiology, emergency medicine, infectious diseases, ENT, nursing, ambulance services, and pharmacy.
In a statement issued Monday, the Qatari Hajj mission said that this recognition is the result of the State of Qatar's approach under its wise leadership to offer the country's pilgrims with the highest levels of support and care, with the Qatari Hajj mission's service, technical, and support units unifying their efforts to ensure that pilgrims perform their rituals in a safe and healthy environment that provides maximum peace of mind and comfort.
The medical unit has set up field clinics fully equipped with state-of-the-art medical apparatus and has deployed a top-level ambulance and a team of doctors and nurses to monitor and accompany pilgrims across holy sites, including Arafat, Muzdalifah and Mina, to ensure a rapid response to emergencies.
The Qatari Hajj mission's healthcare services are one of the most outstanding aspects of Qatar's Hajj experience. They consist of proactive medical care, applying the highest safety and prevention standards, in addition to raising pilgrims' awareness and educating them on health-related matters before and during the pilgrimage.

QC's mobile clinic delivers breast cancer screening in Mauritania

Tribune News Network Doha Qatar Charity (QC) has launched a mobile clinic for early breast cancer detection in Mauritania, as part of its commitment to supporting vulnerable families and underserved communities with life-saving healthcare services. The clinic was officially handed over to Ithar, a charity organisation, during a ceremony attended by Mauritania's Minister of Social Affairs, Childhood and Family Safia Mint N'Tehah, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health Alia Mint Mankous, Acting Charge d'Affairs of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Mauritania Fahad Salem Al Dosari, Sheikh Dr Ali Al-Qaradaghi, and senior officials from Qatar Charity. The mobile unit aims to provide early screening for breast and cervical cancer, particularly in remote areas. Statistics show that these cancers account for approximately 18 percent of all annual cancer cases in Mauritania. The clinic is expected to significantly enhance community health by enabling timely diagnosis for more women. Speaking at the event, Eng. Omer Abdelaziz Mohamed, country director of Qatar Charity's Mauritania Branch, emphasised that health care remains a top priority for the organisation, especially for families unable to afford medical services, highlighting the urgent need to support cancer patients. He announced the launch of two key projects: the completion of a long-awaited cancer hospital—described as a dream for many patients and healthcare professionals—and the deployment of the mobile clinic for early detection of breast and cervical cancer, in partnership with Ithar. President of Ithar, Mohamed Yasslem Abdullah, expressed deep gratitude for the mobile clinic, calling it a transformative gift from the Qatari people. He noted its potential to bring critical screening services closer to rural populations and praised Qatari donors for their continued support of the hospital construction project. Renowned scholar Dr Ali Mohieddin Al-Qaradaghi also lauded the initiative, underscoring the historical role of endowments in advancing healthcare and social services. He called for greater investment in such projects to strengthen the health sector.

Qatar Charity opens new health centre in Somalia

Tribune News Network Mogadishu With the support of the Qatari people and in coordination with Somalia's Ministry of Health and Human Services, Qatar Charity (QC) has inaugurated a new health centre in northern Somalia. The facility aims to deliver essential medical services to a region suffering from a severe shortage of healthcare infrastructure. The inauguration ceremony was attended by officials from the Ministry of Health and Human Services, representatives of the local administration, and a delegation from QC. Attendees expressed their appreciation for the initiative, highlighting its role in alleviating the hardship of patients who previously had to travel long distances in search of medical care. The new centre houses several departments, including maternal and child health, emergency services, and internal medicine. It is equipped with modern medical devices and equipment that meet the standards set by the Somali Ministry of Health, ensuring the delivery of effective and high-quality healthcare services. Constructed in response to the urgent healthcare needs of a population exceeding 50,000 people, the centre is designed to provide comprehensive medical care, especially for women and children—groups most affected by the lack of healthcare services in the region. Engineer Ahmed Al Nama, director of QC's Somalia office, stated that the new centre aligns with the organisation's broader strategy to support the healthcare sector in Somalia and enhance the quality of life for its people. He added that the centre is part of a wider portfolio of health projects implemented by QC, which includes building and equipping hospitals and clinics, as well as deploying medical convoys and providing vital supplies to underserved regions. According to health statistics, over the past two decades, more than 16 million people in Somalia have benefited from QC's healthcare initiatives. Among them are 58,000 orphans who continue to receive regular medical and social care through the charity's programmes across the country.
