US rock star turns up at Welsh railway station with a guitar for impromptu performance

An American rock star made a surprise visit to south Wales as fans spotted him at a Cardiff railway station earlier this week. One half of rock duo Tenacious D, Kyle Gass, took a quick trip to Cardiff and Barry ahead of the final few dates on his UK tour.
Although not performing in Cardiff for The Kyle Gass Company's 2025 UK tour, he decided to spontaneously visit the Welsh city as he was spotted playing Simon & Garfunkel's Homeward Bound at Cardiff Central railway station and strolling along Barry Island beach.
The singer is known for being one half of the famous rock band, Tenacious D alongside fellow rockstar and Hollywood actor, Jack Black who recently starred in the box office smash, Minecraft.
Gass has also made appearances in films such as Shallow Hal, with Jack Black, and Christmas classic, Elf. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter
According to Bro Radio, the bandmate of Jack Black enjoyed a quiet moment by the sea as well as stopping in Romilly's Café taking pictures with the staff on Wednesday, May 28.
Whilst waiting for his train at Cardiff Central railway station, Gass got out his guitar and sang the 1966 hit from the famous duo/

With the Cardiff sign clear in the background of his video shared on social media, fans were quick to welcome him to Wales.
One person wrote: "Omg your in cardiff!! Welcome to Wales."
With another saying: "Croeso I Cymru!!! Welcome to Wales!! Awesome."

Gass and Black's heavy rock band, who've had hits such as Tribute and Beelzeboss are currently on hiatus after, in July 2024, Gass made a controversial remark about President Donald Trump's assassination attempt. The band cancelled their tour for the rest of summer last year.
The controversy arose after Black presented his bandmate with a cake to celebrate his birthday whilst on stage in Australia. When asked to make a wish, Gass said: 'Don't miss Trump next time.'
Kung-Fu Panda star Black has spoken about the band's future since, saying: " 'Yeah, we're friends. That hasn't changed. These things take time sometimes… And we'll be back when it feels right."
This year, Gass has toured around Europe and the UK with The Kyle Gass Company with their last tour date in Stockport on Saturday, May 31.

And when you love frozen cream, there's no such thing as too much." Tyra has opened her SMiZE & DREAM parlour in Sydney's Darling Harbour this month and has been promoting her new business. She also told the Daily Mail Australia how much she is loving her new life Down Under. She said: "I was coming for about a year and a half and just fell in love with it,' she said. 'And I said, should we make this move? And here we are. "I love Darling Harbour because of this park. Tumbalong Park is magical... I have friends that live an hour and a half away and on the weekends they drive here just to go to the water and put their feet in with the kids. "There's a playground for older kids, one for younger kids, Darling Square nearby, the harbour – it just felt natural." She went on to explain she named one of her new ice cream flavours after herself. Describing the salted sweet cream, butter-roasted pecans and savoury caramel butter flavour, she gushed: "My favourite flavour is called Tyra's Favourite – very creative, isn't it? ... It's not your traditional ice cream taste – it has this surprising, rich sensation in the mouth." Last year, Tyra opened up about her modelling past and future as she prepared to return to the catwalk for a Victoria's Secret show. In an empowering message she said: "50-year-old women, insecure women - I just felt like there was more, and I look at the playback and I'm like, boom, boom, boom. "I was stomping because I felt like I was a vessel more so than it's just all about me. It was different." American also starred in sitcom Sanford and Son and the The Waltons Actress Lynn Hamilton, best known for her roles in Sanford and Son, The Golden Girls and the The Waltons has died aged 95. Her former manager and publicist, Rev. Calvin Carson, confirmed she died peacefully on Thursday of natural causes in her Chicago home. In a statement, he said: 'Without profound gratitude and admiration, we celebrate the extraordinary life of iconic actress Alzenia 'Lynn' Hamilton-Jenkins, whose remarkable legacy continues to uplift and inspire. 'Her illustrious career, spanning over five decades, has left an indelible mark on the world of entertainment, motivating audiences across the globe through her work as a model, stage, film and television actress.' The post said that her 'captivating performances' continue to 'inspire new generations'. The statement added that Lynn was the recipient of the NAACP Award. The character becomes friends with the titular family and is said to have featured in more than a dozen episodes. The Mirror reports that she is also credited with playing Trudy in an episode of the Golden Girls in 1988. Trudy was introduced as the aunt of Lorraine Wagner (Rosalind Cash), who married Michael Zbornak (Scott Jacoby), the son of Dorothy Zbornak (Bea Arthur). She also appeared in numerous other shows over the course of her career. Her credits include playing cousin Georgia Anderson in Roots: The Next Generation in 1979 and Judge P. Fulton in the Practice from 1997 to 2002. Lynn is said to have also worked alongside her late husband Frank S. Jenkins, who died aged 89 in 2014, over the years. Former Love Island winner Jess Harding hits out at 'b**chy' 2025 contestant
Jess Harding, who won ITV's Love Island back in 2023, has shared her thoughts on current contestant Antonia 'Toni' Laites - who has been causing drama in the villa Former Love Island winner Jess Harding has lashed out at one of the current contestants in a scathing social media post. The 2025 season of ITV's long-running reality dating show began earlier this month and 16 contestants are currently housed in the villa. But tensions have been bubbling between some of the contestants and 24-year-olds Antonia 'Toni' Laites and Emily Moran have clashed while taking part in the show. Viewers were startled to see Toni accuse Emily of sticking her nose in her business during a fiery exchange that aired on Friday night. Jess, 24 - who won Love Island in 2023 alongside then-boyfriend Sammy Root, 24 - was among those watching at home to take to social media to dissect the unsettling scenes. The reality star shared her shock at Toni's outburst against Emily. Siding with the British star, Jess accused American bombshell Toni of being "b**chy". In a message shared via Instagram stories, the star wrote: "Ok what the hell, just because someone isn't your cup of tea doesn't mean you can cause a big drama over it?!" Jess continued: "Toni girl I loved you but I don't like b****y behaviour & pulling crying behaviour." And she added: "Why can't the girls be 1 big group cos these men be acting CRAZY." On Friday night, fans saw tension escalate between Toni and Emily as the 2025 season endured one of its most dramatic arguments so far. Friction came to a head after the two ladies took a near instant dislike to each other after Emily entered the villa as a bombshell on day five. Toni's feather's were ruffled when she overheard a conversation between Emily and Irish contestant Conor Phillips, 25. The American bombshell then found a confidant in Shakira Khan, 22, who she shared her frustrations with. But Emily later accused Toni of talking behind her back, while fellow Islander Megan 'Meg' Moore, 25, warned Emily that Toni had branded her "nosey" and "Little Miss Sunshine." An almighty row erupted, with Emily despairing that Toni was "just trying to cause a problem," and "she's f****g nuts." All the drama could be helping generate interest in the long-running show, however. While the 2025 season got off to a low viewership start when it launched on 9 June, the audience then reportedly grew by 1.7 million streams on ITVX after the first episode aired. Some past contestants have started campaigning for the series to be axed, however, and the show has a long history of being tied to the tragic mental health declines of past contestants. This weekend, Malin Andersson, who starred on the show in 2016, voiced her concerns about the way the series is made. She told The Mirror: "It should be axed. When I was on it, we were naive, it felt more organic – still scripted but more authentic. Even then, it wasn't pure, it was full of toxicity. Now millions watch it, especially young people, and their idea of love gets completely skewed." She added: "I felt disposable, like a piece of rubbish tossed aside. In there, you're fighting to be seen, to be a main character, seeking validation. It's not healthy – it creates unrealistic drama and messes up how viewers see love." Love Island has come under fire in the past for failing to support contestant that take part in the series - however, strict after care rules were introduced in 2019 after the deaths of former contestants Sophie Gradon and Mike Thalassitis.
