HP's 11-in-1 Dock Is Still Over 50% Off at Amazon, the Memorial Day Sale Hasn't Ended

Gizmodo30-05-2025

Sorry to nerd out with the Lord of the Rings reference right out of the gate, but if you have a gigantic knotty mass of disorganized wires living on your desk, we're offering to replace them with the One Cord to Rule Them All. HP's G5 USB-C Dock and 11-in-1 Adapter will take that octopus and break it down into a single USB-C cable to connect to your Thunderbolt- or USB-C-enabled laptop or desktop computer. Everything you could possibly need a cable for — charging mobile devices, connecting via Ethernet, adding external monitors and printers and more — runs through this one compact port that brings order to your cable chaos.

The HP G5 USB-C Dock was one of the better Memorial Day tech deals at Amazon, selling for just $108 after a big 53% price break. Memorial Day may be gone, but the deal remains — you can still get the HP G5 USB-C Dock for half price at Amazon. If you have a multiple-monitor setup or you're constantly disconnecting your laptop from your desktop setup to take it on the go, this 11-in-1 dock is a true game-changer.
Center of Your Tech Universe
First, let's run through the specifics of all of these ports: There are 4 USB-A 3.0 ports, 1 USB-C port for data and 15W power out, 2 DisplayPort 1.4 connections, 1 HDMI 2.0 port, 1 Ethernet port, and an audio jack. There's one more USB-C connection that leads to your laptop or desktop, a standard lock slot, and a AC power connection to complete the scene, and amazingly all of these useful connections are contained within an unassuming 5-by-5 inch block that's also less than 2 inches tall.
While the HP name is solid assurance that the G5 Dock is a high-quality product you'll use for years, it's not an indication that this dock is just for HP computers. Any Thunderbolt- or USB-C-enabled laptop or desktop can connect to the G5 Dock, including ones from Apple.
Power Station
The HP G5 Dock powers your computer while it handles all of your other tasks, so your portable devices charging and your automated backup to a portable USB hard drive and your three-monitor multitasking does not come at the expense of your computer's battery. Even firmware and system updates can pass through the G5 Dock to your computer while it sleeps.
As clutter-busting devices go, we can't think of a better solution than the HP G5 USB-C Dock and 11-in-1 Adapter, especially now that the Memorial Day sale at Amazon that's dropped its price by half to just $108 is still going strong long after the holiday weekend.

Budget to entice companies to invest in major projects

A multi-million dollar innovation fund is expected to make Australia's most populous state a more attractive place to invest and start a business. The 2025/26 NSW budget, to be handed down on Tuesday, will allocate nearly $80 million in funding to make the state the best place to innovate, connect with investors and scale a business. The funding includes $38.5 million for Australia's largest technology and innovation hub, Tech Central, and $20 million for emerging technology commercialisation to help boost growth in the housing and energy sectors. In 2024, NSW accounted for 65 per cent of Australia venture capital investment, and is home to five out of eight "unicorn" companies, privately held companies valued at over $1 billion. Tuesday's budget will also include $17 million to set up an Investment Delivery Authority. The authority will be tasked with helping to accelerate approvals for major projects across all industries, including advanced technologies and energy. Major projects to be considered by the authority may include hotels, data centres, renewable energy projects and commercial developments. Too many major projects from the private sector were getting bogged down in red tape, Premier Chris Minns said. "Our state is open for business and this change will encourage more people to bring their best ideas to life in NSW, all backed by our government," he said. Treasurer Daniel Mookhey said the government was creating a way to address blockages, speed up the process and ensure NSW was properly open for business. "The Investment Delivery Authority is the turbocharger to drive economic growth across the state," he said.

Fred Smith, founder of FedEx and father of Steelers offensive coordinator, dies at 80

Fred Smith, the founder of the FedEx Corporation, which revolutionized express delivery, and father of the Steelers' offensive coordinator, has died at 80, according to Memphis Mayor Paul Young. "Fred Smith was more than a business leader; he was a visionary whose ideas reshaped not only the global economy but the very identity of Memphis," said Mayor Young. "When he founded FedEx, he didn't just launch a company, he changed the way the world moves." Smith, the Marine Corps veteran, started FedEx in the 1970s, and in 1973, it began operation. They delivered small parcels and documents at first, and it ultimately grew into a global transportation and logistics company with an average of 17 million shipments per day. Smith would step down as CEO in 2022 but would remain as the executive chairman of the company. "As we begin to process this tremendous loss, it is important that we take care of one another and demonstrate the passion and compassion that Fred embodied every day," said Raj Subramaniam, FedEx President, CEO, and Director. "In the coming days and weeks, I know we will all find ways to honor his memory and pay tribute to his legacy." In a 2023 interview with the Associated Press, Smith discussed a gift to the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation that he believed could grow in value to $65 million. "The thing that's interested me are the institutions and the causes, not the naming or the recognition," he said at the time. The Steelers hired Fred's son, Arthur, in 2024 after he spent 2021-23 as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. He has been a coach in the NFL since 2007, when he first was the defensive quality control coach for Washington. He would then go on to Tennessee, where he held multiple jobs, including defensive quality control coach, offensive quality coach, assistant offensive line coach, assistant tight ends coach, and offensive coordinator. We have reached out to the Steelers for comment and will update the story once we hear back.

Upstart Holdings (NasdaqGS:UPST) Shares Surge 28% Over Last Month

Upstart Holdings recently announced a partnership with All In Credit Union to expand personal loan access, potentially influencing its share price movement. The company's stock rose by 28% over the past month, which stands out given the broader market was flat in the last week. This alignment with Upstart's strategies to broaden its reach and enhance service offerings might have added positive momentum to its stock performance, counterbalancing the overall market trends. The partnership emphasizes Upstart's proactive steps in leveraging its platform to offer customized loan solutions, enhancing its position within the financial technology sector. We've spotted 2 warning signs for Upstart Holdings you should be aware of. AI is about to change healthcare. These 22 stocks are working on everything from early diagnostics to drug discovery. The best part - they are all under $10b in market cap - there's still time to get in early. Upstart Holdings' recent partnership with All In Credit Union is positioned to enhance its loan portfolio by expanding personal loan access. This development aligns with Upstart's enhancements in underwriting and automation, potentially improving loan approval rates and reducing default risks. Such improvements could positively impact both revenue and earnings forecasts by increasing origination volumes and enhancing net margins. Analysts expect Upstart's revenue to grow significantly, reflecting these changes. Although Upstart's stock has risen 28% in the past month, it's important to note that the total shareholder return over the last year, including dividends, was a substantial 168.07%. Over the past year, Upstart's performance outpaced both the broader US market and the US Consumer Finance industry, which returned 10% and 30.5% respectively. The company's share price movement towards the consensus price target of US$56.63 indicates a slight discount of approximately 2.39%. This shows potential for further price adjustments if revenue and earnings forecasts are met. Still, the stock remains expensive based on its Price-To-Sales Ratio compared to industry averages. The ongoing developments will be crucial for future profitability and may influence investor confidence, supporting Upstart's positioning within the financial technology sector.
