Argos knocks 50% off four-seater garden patio set with parasol

Daily Mirror4 days ago

The rattan-effect set includes a glass table, four rope-effect armchairs and a parasol to shield shoppers from the sun
The UK is set for a heatwave this week, with some parts of the country potentially sizzling in temperatures of up to 33C by the weekend. Ahead of summer's anticipated return, Argos has slashed 50% off a four-seater garden set.
The Habitat Pesaro 4-seater Patio Set has been marked down to £250, from its original price of £500. The patio set comprises four chairs, a small table and a parasol.
The four chairs are woven, have a rattan-effect design, and are also cushioned. The stylish set is perfect for shoppers revamping their outdoor spaces. It isn't too large, so it will be ideal for small or medium-sized gardens.
The set has an overall customer satisfaction rating of 4.5 out of 5 on the Argos website. A shopper said: "I have had this set for two weeks and it has not disappointed me. Lovely comfortable chairs. Looks smart. I have given it four stars as the parasol is slightly small, but will be ok for us."
Another picked it up on sale, adding: "Bought this a couple of weeks ago, after watching it for a year, finally caught in a sale. Love it."

An additional customer had issues assembling it and also had a gripe with the parasol, writing: "Set is very nice, packaged very well, quite time-consuming to put together, including unwrapping. No issues with holes or fixings. Umbrella is pointless and looks comically small. Delivery team lovely."
Alternatively, for homeowners conscious of limited space, this rattan 2-in-1 piece can be used as a daybed for snoozing and as a lounger for sunbathing. The cream two-seater is priced at £118 at Yimbly, an online marketplace owned by The Mirror's parent company, Reach Plc.
What's more, shipping on a customer's first order is free. Elsewhere, Dunelm is selling a Santorini four-seater Conversation Set for £153.30, down from £219. The metal dining set doesn't require assembly and is offered in beige or green colours.
Back to the Argos Habitat Pesaro 4-seater Patio Set, another buyer offered assembly tips: "I have enjoyed sitting out in the lovely weather and using the table and chair set. Very stylish and comfy. Would recommend. Tip for assembly - locate and fasten the nuts and bolts, but only loosely- this will make them easier to locate, then go back once this has been done and fully tighten them.
"Glad I got this set half price in the sale, as I wouldn't have been able to afford it full price."

Love Island star Shaughna Phillips stuns fans with incredible weight loss photos

Former Love Island contestant Shaughna Phillips has been getting herself summer ready with a strict fitness and diet plan - leaving fans gasping over her impressive transformation Love Island star Shaughna Phillips won praise from her fans as she detailed her incredible body transformation. The 31-year-old reality star found fame in 2020 when she appeared on season six of the ITV show. Shaughna lasted over four weeks in the villa before she was dumped form the island - and in the years since has won a following for her no nonsense approach to beauty and social media. While many reality stars turn to surgery or use heavy filters on images to give an illusion of their appearance, the mum-of-one has shunned touching up her images. ‌ Now the star has won further praise by showing off her figure with impressive before and after photographs, revealing that she changed the shape of her body through a strict exercise regime. The ITV star posed in just her underwear in both images which she shared on Instagram. ‌ The before photo showed Shaughna posing with her arms at her side and with a warm smile as she stood in place to be snapped. The follow up images showed how her body had become more toned, while her pose appeared more confident. Sharing the details of her transformation, she wrote: "Let the record reflect, although I've dropped a few dress sizes, I will ALWAYS love a high waisted full brief. "However if you want to swap your full briefs for a cheeky Brazilian (the knicker, not a man that is) - we have a NEW OFFER on my Shreditplan nutrition and workout programme. It's now HALF PRICE - so a whole 50% off the 4 month plan. That works out at less than the price of a latte a week!" Shaughna then listed exactly what fans could expect what training and support to receive if they signed up to the plan. She revealed fans could expect: "12 minute combat workouts you can fit round your day. A nutrition plan that doesn't feel like a diet (yes we have beige food and alcohol on it!)." She added that vegan and veggie options would also be available, and those taking part could be granted group support sessions. She rounded off her post, writing: "Your summer shred starts now." ‌ Fans took to the comments section to marvel at the reality star's transformation. One wrote: "You look amazing, you've done so well." Another wrote: "You really do look amazing. I'm so tempted to sign up." A fan commented: "U look amazing" alongside red heart emojis. And a further fan typed: "You look happy with your new body that's all that matters lovely." ‌ Earlier this year, fans commented on Shaughna's changing figure, with many speculating that she may have taken weight loss injections to lose weight. However, she hit back at the suggestion, telling The Mirror: "I love food way too much," to ever even consider suppress her appetite with a 'fad' like weight loss jabs. ‌ "There's a new fad every other year. It just so happens that this is the fad this time around, and after I have lost weight. The thing is, it just coincided with the time when I had my daughter Lucia, and I had this baby weight and everyone was commenting on it. Had it of been a few years prior, everyone would have been saying I had a BBL, or some magical liposuction that completely transformed how I looked," she shared. She went on: "We're in the Ozempic season at the moment, and I can't help how people perceive me. I believe that Ozempic is an appetite suppressant, and those are not new. It's just essentially a new name for something that gives the same results. "This has been something that has been around for 20 or 30 years - it's just another pharmaceutical company that have been able to market it in this new way and everyone is freaking out over it. In a couple of years time it will be something else, mark my words." It is noted, however, that Ozempic is not strictly a weight loss injection as it is a medication designed to treat type 2 diabetes with weight loss an unintended side effect.

Shoppers rave over compact handheld fan that 'puts out more air than a big fan'

'Perfect size to keep in a bag or put in your pocket on sunny days. The speed is insane - this really feels like a plug in fan.' With the weather getting warmer and festival season starting up, many of us are looking for ways to keep cool in the heat without having to head back indoors. One practical solution is to buy a handheld fan that you can quickly switch on when you are feeling too warm. Easily placed in a bag or a pocket, these compact devices will quickly become your must-have item over the summer months. While there are many cheap fans on the market, it may be worth investing in a rechargeable device that can give you the airflow you need and can last all day without draining its battery. For those happy to spend a bit more on a device that will last longer, Amazon is selling the JISULIFE Portable Handheld Fan Life9 for a discounted price. Normally retailing for £35.99, shoppers can now snap it up for 20 per cent less at £28.79. Equipped with a lanyard strap for extra accessibility, the Life9 fan uses an advanced nine blade design and a high speed three-phase brushless motor to provide maximum wind speeds of up to 10m/s. With an RPM of 40000, this compact device will deliver a strong and stable wind. With a battery life of up to 18 hours, shoppers will be able to keep themselves cool all day long no matter the occasion. They will also have a choice of five wind speeds to match the users personal preference and the environment they are in. Weighing only 170g, this ultra-small fan packs a punch and can easily be stored away in a pocket or bag to be easily grabbed at a moments notice. Charging the device is also a breeze as it is compatible with regular USB ports as well as laptops, power banks and car chargers. JISULIFE Portable Handheld Fan Life9 £35.99 £28.79 Amazon Buy Now Product Description For those happy to carry around something a bit bigger, Amazon is also selling the HandFan Portable Rechargeable Fan for £26.99. With a 6-inch outer frame and five blades, this fan will deliver a stronger breeze than that of smaller alternatives. With six speeds, the fan is able to last up to 34 hours in normal wind mode. Alternatively, Argos has dropped the price of the Bush Pink Handheld & Foldable Desk Fan. Normally retailing at £15, shoppers can now snap up the fan for £12 just in time for festivals to begin. This collapsible fan comes with three speed settings that can be controlled with a single push button. In the lead up to summer, over 900 Amazon shoppers have bought the Life9 Fan in the last 30 days. Currently boasting a 4.3 star rating, some reviewers were blown away by the power that this compact device possesses. One delighted shopper said: "I bought two of these fans for a trip to Mexico. These fans are great and have various settings for how strong you want the fan. They cool you down easily and are very powerful on the top setting. "I love the fact that there are no open fan blades and that they are usb-c rechargeable, you would find it difficult even on top setting to run out of battery in a day even with extensive use. As you go up the power settings the fan becomes louder but that isn't a problem for me. These really are the best handheld fans I have ever had, I'm very impressed." With another five-star reviewer adding: "This little fan puts out more air than my big fan. It feels like I am using an air conditioner. I charge during day and it runs all night and I only use it on the lowest setting." However, a few shoppers complained about the noise of the fan, as one person wrote: "Nice little fan, but the higher you turn the fan up the louder it gets, very loud on high." Another reviewer agreed: "This is a great little fan. It would easily fit into a pocket. I took it away on a recent holiday. There are five power settings and at the highest level it can get quite noisy, but frankly the output outweighs the noise level." Despite this, another top reviewer added: "Keeps me cool during those summer days and the battery life is good for such a compact fan with powerful air flow, with handy lanyard. All and all happy with this purchase." With a further shopper commenting: "WOW! I love love love this fan. Perfect size to keep in a bag or put in your pocket on sunny days. The speed is insane - this really feels like a plug in fan. Reminds me of a well-known brand hairdryer with the fan technology. "I have never been able to find a fan that has beat this. As somebody that suffers from bouts of hyperhydrosis, this has been a life saver. The fan head itself is small, but when held at a distance creates a wide range of breeze." I tried the Oodie Cooling Blanket to see if it helped me sleep in a heatwave

In light of the hot weather, I've found myself ditching my long pyjamas for a T-shirt and shorts ensemble - and even then, I'm still tossing the duvet aside in the middle of the night in a heated state. Unexpectedly, Oodie came to my aid. Yes, that's right, Oodie - the company behind those viral wearable blankets - has introduced a line of cooling blankets designed to draw away heat and moisture while you sleep. What's more, it's currently on offer for £79, down from £99, saving customers £20. Naturally, I was intrigued by this innovative sleep companion. A blanket that keeps you cool sounds like a contradiction, but I was keen to give it a go. Scroll down to see how it fared in my bedtime routine. My Verdict on the Oodie Cooling Blanket When the Oodie Cooling Blanket arrived at my door, I was doubtful. However, those doubts quickly vanished once I unpacked it. The blanket, which featured a soft pastel wave pattern, was genuinely cool to the touch - so much so that I was baffled by how Oodie had achieved it. The secret lies in the material: a blend of nylon and elastane that the brand claims is three times cooler than cotton. It absorbs heat and disperses it, helping to maintain a steady temperature throughout the night, reports the Mirror. During the recent heatwave that swept across London a couple of weeks ago, I decided to put it to a real test. I'd been spending roughly 20 minutes tossing and turning in bed, attempting to find the least perspiration-inducing position. However, with the Oodie blanket, I felt immediately cooler and fell asleep surprisingly swiftly. I did wake up a couple of times in the middle of the night feeling somewhat warm, but simply flipping the blanket over solved the issue. It cooled down again within seconds, and I was back to sleep before I knew it. I also appreciate its lightweight nature. Unlike heavier duvets, which can exacerbate the discomfort of warm nights, it didn't feel like it was burdening me at all. While it's primarily designed for sleeping, it can also be helpful after exercise. If the user is particularly sweaty, it may become a bit smelly, but as it's machine washable, maintaining its freshness and cleanliness is straightforward. However, there are numerous other moisture-wicking alternatives on the market. I've compiled a list of some of my favourite temperature-regulating options, as featured in The Mirror. These include Piglet in Bed's linen sheets, available in a variety of colours and boasting a timeless yet breathable design. For those who still prefer using a duvet, the low-tog Slumberland duvet starts from £49.99 and has received accolades from users as being 'perfect for all year round.' I didn't anticipate falling for the Oodie blanket, but I have. It's improved my sleep during balmy nights, and while it doesn't substitute air conditioning or a fan, it's a seriously commendable alternative that won't make your electricity bill grimace. My only quibble is that the pastel wave design isn't quite to my taste - it clashes with the subdued hues in my bedroom, so I wish I'd opted for a different colour. That being said, it's reversible, featuring a blue side, and is available in seven colours, including a neutral burgundy that has caught my eye. For anyone finding it tough to sleep through warm nights who doesn't want to splash out on a fan, the Oodie Cooling Blanket is worth a thought. It's not just a novelty - it genuinely does the job. And if it aids me in avoiding waking up in a pool of sweat, it's a champion in my eyes.
