Smiso Shezi teams up with Blaq Major

TimesLIVE3 days ago

For the past two years Smiso Shezi has been living in New York, where he was able to realise his dream and develop his talent in music.
Smiso has returned to Durban to further pursue his dream of making good music. His latest single, iBill, features Blaq Major, DM Keey and Luvintage.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Simiso said: ' iBill doesn't talk about the struggle but rather talks about the time when hard work has paid off. Time and time again people put in the required work and effort, but when they reach the summit, they don't know how to be happy,' he said.
' iBill reminds you about enjoying yourself and how it feels to enjoy the finer things in life, basking under the African sun. The track talks about reaching out to your friends for a get together, to have fun and enjoy living. Gone are the days of tears. It is time to celebrate.'

AfroSoul hit by scammers, warn fans to be vigilant

AfroSoul duo Sabelo Ngema and Thandeka Zulu have found themselves at the centre of an alarming scam after fraudsters began impersonating them online — claiming they run a loan shark business. The scammers, using images of the married musical couple, set up a fake Facebook page offering loans under the guise of AfroSoul. The fraudulent activity has led to confusion and reputational damage for the duo, known for their Afro pop and soul hits and socially conscious lyrics. Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Sabelo expressed his frustration and deep disappointment about the situation. 'I was alerted by people who know us, with my wife Thandeka. I think five of them wanted to borrow money from us thinking we are running a loan shark business,' he said. 'I dismissed them and they showed me the Facebook page with our images, that we are operating as loan sharks. 'This scam has dented our reputation as musicians. I don't know why people will go an extra mile to scam innocent people. I've since alerted our followers that they need to be careful not to get scammed.' AfroSoul has urged fans to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious social media accounts claiming to be affiliated with them.

WATCH: Tyla's big Nickelodeon night: Hosting, slime and a big win

Tyla became the first African artist to host the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards — the global show that celebrates the biggest stars in television, music, film and digital media, all voted for by children. South Africa's pop superstar Tyla stole the show at this year's Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, delivering a high-energy performance as host, scooping an award, and even braving the slime. The event was held on Saturday, 21 June, at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, in the United States. Tyla was nominated in two categories – Favourite Global Music Star and Favourite Music Collaboration for Show Me Love, her track with WizTheMc and bees & honey. She walked away with the Favourite Global Music Star award, beating nominees from six other regions: Asia, Australia, Europe, Latin America, North America and the UK. 'This means the world to me — to represent Africa on a global stage and be recognised by all of you amazing kids out there… wow. Thank you for believing in me and dancing with me. Africa to the world!' she said. The 23-year-old wasn't just an award recipient – she also took on hosting duties. In an interview before the event, Tyla revealed she had always dreamed of being on Nickelodeon. 'When I was younger, I tried to audition for Nickelodeon, but no one answered the call – and now I'm hosting it,' she said, beaming with pride. Tyla also got her slime action, far more than the drizzle she had hoped for. 'When I saw a video of Katy Perry getting slimed, I was like, oh my gosh, please, not that. Just a little cute drizzle. But we'll see – whatever happens, happens,' she said before the show. Tyla wins 'Favourite Global Music Star' and gets Slimed at the Kids' Choice Awards. Should we move to Durban or Cape Town? American couple seeks advice on where to live in Mzansi

The beautiful shores of Durban's beachfront are enticing American expat couple, Kourtney and Kenzo, to move to the city. Image: Unsplash After a year filled with exploration and adventure, American expat couple Kourtney and Kenzo, known as "4K Family TV" on YouTube and TikTok, find themselves grappling with a dilemma. Should they call Durban or Cape Town home? Leaving behind their life in Las Vegas, Nevada, to pursue 'The American Dream' in South Africa, they are neck-deep in the charms and challenges of their new life. When Kourtney and Kenzo first arrived, the choice seemed simple, with the picturesque coastal metropolis of Cape Town and the vibrant hub of Johannesburg leading as top contenders. However, as they ventured across the breathtaking landscapes and diverse cultures of South Africa, their recent getaway to KwaZulu-Natal showcased the allure of Durban and nearby Ballito, reshaping their decision-making process. "After I saw South Africa, we were 100% sure that we wanted to be here," enthused Kourtney. The couple's social media channels are awash with captivating snippets from their South African journey, revealing not only the enchanting views but also the warm-hearted culture they've encountered. Their indecision is notable, as Kenzo succinctly put it, "Should I move to Durban? The food is so good out here. The people are very nice. But look at the views? I can have this in Cape Town and I can have this in Durban? But hear me out…Durban!" In a bid to include their followers in the decision, the couple turned to TikTok to crowdsource opinions, prompting a flurry of comments from netizens. Some highlighted Durban's affordability, with user @bongi55kb stating, 'Durban is cheaper … but go to Ballito side.' Others noted the dilemma of vacationing, with @ pondering, 'If you move to Durban then where are you going to go for vacation?' With a playful touch, @mawabo6573 added, 'Live in Durban visit Cape on the holidays😂', while @paully229 weighed in on the benefits of Durban's weather and ocean warmth. The 4K Family is symbolic of a broader trend where an increasing number of black Americans are opting to repatriate to Africa, marking a significant shift in diasporic ties. While South Africa currently lacks a formal repatriation programme aimed at black Americans and descendants of those affected by the Transatlantic slave trade, it continues to emerge as a top destination among those seeking to reconnect with their roots. Several African nations, including Ghana and Benin, are actively facilitating these transitions through specific initiatives designed to encourage engagement with the African diaspora.
