Major road closures this weekend…
Motorists, watch out this weekend – road closures are incoming, this time for the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge and the UAE Tour Women 2025 cycling event. These are the names and roads you need to aware of if you're driving out and about in Dubai.
The challenge will take place on Sunday, February 23, and the 92km race will block access to Hessa Street, Al Asayel Street, and Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan from 6.10am to 8.22pm. Since these areas toads connect and cover some key areas like Al Reem, Damac Hills, Mira, Town Square, Global Village, expect delays here.
There will be no access to Hessa Street between 6.10am and 9.50am which will then affect traffic in Studio City, Motor City, Sports City, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Al Barsha, Al Barsha South, Tilal Al Ghaf and Jumeirah Village Circle.
The shorter races will take place on Saturday, between 6.15am and 9.30am which means that Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nayan towards and from Expo City Dubai will be closed. This will have a knock-on affect for the Tilal Al Ghaf and Remraam areas of the city.

On Friday, the UAE Tour Women 2025 cycling event will see closures on Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Naseem Street, Al Khail Road, Al Jamayel Street, and Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street to name a few, before finishing near Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University.
Roads will be closed from 12.30pm for the participants to commence the race, until 4.30pm. at intervals as part of traffic management. Motorists have also been advised to use alternative routes such as Ras Al Khor Road and Emirates Road until the event concludes. Traffic today…
Delays are also expected on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and Hessa Street today due to the start of the ICC Champions Trophy at Dubai Sports City, between 11am and 2pm, and again from 9 pm to 11 pm, according to the RTA.

These delays could continue throughout the weekend, in addition to the two cycling events, as the launch of Dubai Games 2025 runs from Thursday, February 20 to Sunday, February 23.
Lots of action happening, and drivers have been advised to plan their journeys well in advance to avoid getting stuck in traffic. Keep an eye out on social channels to stay updated with the state of the roads.

Proteas quick ready to spoil Australia's party at WTC25 Final

Ngidi reflected on his memorable first visit to the iconic London venue and believes Rabada could be primed to produce another scintillating spell this time around in the Ultimate Test. "The last time we were here, I knew that he (Rabada) wanted to get his name on the honours board," Ngidi said. "The best way for me to help him in terms of doing that was to be as consistent and as patient as I could be with the lines that I bowled and not trying to be too extravagant. "But I knew that with the way he bowls, wickets are going to come at some stage. For me, it was just to keep it quiet on the other end. Just understanding that before we went onto the field, my job was already pretty clear.' South Africa and Australia prepare for the WTC25 Final The finalists are prepping up for the Ultimate Test as the countdown for June 11 begins. South Africa have come close to breaking their long drought in Men's ICC tournaments in recent times, with the side having reached the final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup last year and then knocked out of the ICC Champions Trophy at the semi-final stage earlier this year. Ngidi thinks his side are capable of defeating Australia and ending their long wait without a major trophy and believes the impact on cricket in South Africa could be huge if they do claim the mace at Lord's. "I don't think I can put it into words, to be honest," Ngidi said. "We've come close over the last couple of years now with other different tournaments. For me, this is the ultimate form of cricket and to be able to bring this back home would be a dream come true. "I don't want to jinx anything, but it would be awesome. Australia's star all-rounder retires from ODI cricket
Maxwell made his debut in August 2012, scoring 3,990 runs and picking up 77 wickets from his 149 ODI games. Maxwell's career saw the all-rounder win two ICC Men's Cricket World Cup titles for Australia in 2015 and 2023. His final ODI appearance came against India in the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year. The all-rounder took the call to prioritise his preparation for next year's ICC Men's T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, the domestic Big Bash League, and his other global commitments, while understanding that he wasn't in a position to deliver his best in the ODI format. "I felt like I was letting the team down a little bit with how the body was reacting to the conditions. I had a good chat with (Chair of Selectors) George Bailey and I asked him what his thoughts were going forward,' Maxwell told the Final Word Podcast .
