Build PMAY Schemes With 1,000 Flats In Each Of 6 Constituencies, Says CM
Nagpur: In a major milestone under the
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana
(PMAY), the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Sunday handed over possession of 480 flats to economically weaker section (EWS) beneficiaries under the project Swapniketan, located at Mouza Wanjara.

, along with guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule and minister of state Ashish Jaiswal.
Addressing the gathering, CM Fadnavis congratulated the new homeowners and praised the quality of construction undertaken by NMC. "The same quality flat is being sold for Rs18 lakh in the adjacent scheme, but citizens are getting the flat under PMAY for Rs9 lakh," said Fadnavis.
He also proposed that similar PMAY buildings — with at least 1,000 flats — should be developed in each of Nagpur's six assembly constituencies to ensure accessible housing for all. "PM Modi has already provided funds for building 30 lakh houses in the state this year. Out of the 12 crore population of Maharashtra, over 1.5 crore will be able to live in their own homes thanks to PM Modi," said Fadnavis.
He also reaffirmed the govt's commitment to regularising slum dwellings and providing ownership rights to all families in the coming years.

Fadnavis also instructed that the newly built Arogya Vardhini Kendra (Urban Health Wellness Centre) be showcased as a model of architectural excellence. Stressing Nagpur's place among India's green cities, he encouraged citizens to reduce private vehicle usage and make greater use of the eco-friendly electric bus service made available by the city administration.
"Steps are being taken so that the private vehicle usage is reduced in the city and people should use public transport.
In the future, Metro and E-bus services will be provided within 300m to 500m distance from any person's home, especially in suburbs," said Fadnavis.
During the event, city beautification projects were also unveiled, including landscaping and decorative works under Mahdi Bagh, Dahi Bazar, Sakkardara, and Dighori flyovers. Notable among these were graffiti artworks at JP Nagar Metro Station, mural paintings of women and bicycles at major junctions, and a mural of an astronaut at Narendra Nagar Chowk.
The teams from NMC, SDPL, and PMC were felicitated by the chief minister for their excellent implementation of the PMAY project.

APMC recognition soon for foreign medical graduates
Vijayawada: In a major relief for foreign medical graduates (FMGs), the Andhra Pradesh Medical Council (APMC) has decided to issue recognition letters in line with the National Medical Commission (NMC) guidelines. Registrations had been on hold for over a year due to the absence of a governing council, leaving around 1,300 graduates in limbo. State govt recently constituted the council, which resolved the long-pending issue of registration. The 1,300 students, who pursued MBBS/BDS courses in foreign universities, were struggling to get registration with the APMC for the past 2-3 years since completing their internships. The foreign medical graduates, who returned abruptly from colleges during the Covid-19 pandemic and completed their courses through offline mode, were required to complete 1-3 years of mandatory internship in local medical colleges allocated by the medical council. They would be eligible to get registration and start practice only with valid registration from the medical council. "The issue was pending for the past year as there was no governing council. We took the issue as a priority soon after assuming charge and resolved to grant registrations to the FMGs," AP Medical Council chairman Dr Daggumati Srihari Rao told TOI. He added that the NMC has been issuing guidelines from time to time to handle the grievances of the FMGs. Sources said several FMGs from AP moved to neighbouring states and applied for registrations with the medical councils in those states. Since the medical graduates could approach any state medical council for getting registrations, the students reportedly completed their internships and also started working in some of the neighbouring states. However, a good number of students stayed back in AP with the hope that the state govt would resolve the issue. After a year-long tussle between the coalition partners, state govt allocated the APMC chairman post to Dr Srihari R of BJP. "The NMC clarified last June that compensation certificates submitted by FMGs, who sufficiently compensated their online study with offline mode, shall be accepted. Accordingly, the internship period of one year may be considered for FMGs who submitted the compensation certificates issued by the respective universities," said Dr Srihari Rao. Students who completed the course in a foreign university but failed to finish the internship (one year due to Covid) were allowed to complete a one-year internship in the local college.

Mumbai : Fast-moving consumer goods, power, consumer durables, and information technology were the sectors that saw the highest selloff by overseas funds in the first-half of June, according to data from NSDL. The fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector witnessed the highest outflows at ₹3,626 crore, after receiving inflows worth ₹815 crore in May. Between January and May, the sector saw selling worth over ₹14,000 crore. "Continuing with the trend seen in the first quarter of this calendar year, FMCG companies saw foreign selling and preference for rate-sensitives and beta plays were the few reasons driving this trend," said Sriram Velayudhan, senior vice president, IIFL Capital. The sector has seen outflows worth over ₹9,000 crore between January and May. "Power companies had run up in the recent past, but the valuations are rich and not sustainable," said Siddarth Bhamre, head of institutional research at Asit C Mehta Intermediates. Velayudhan said that the interest rate and Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) cut by the RBI has prompted inflows into the financial services sector. Beyond banking and financial services, their purchases in most of the other sectors were relatively modest. "While it is tough to predict further flows, foreign investors are likely to be nimble-footed, so no major flows are likely amid the geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and the trade situation between US and China," said Bhamre. Chemicals, oil & gas, and capital goods were among the other sectors that received flows in the first- half of June. Bhamre said that the premium attached to the Trump tariffs is expected to come off given the back and forth on tariffs by Trump.
