
Lorry rams into empty house while avoiding motorcycle
KLUANG: A house was damaged after it was rammed by a lorry that lost control in an accident at Km99, Jalan Batu Pahat-Mersing near Kampung Sri Lukut, Kahang, yesterday.
The incident occurred at around 8.20am when the 37-year-old lorry driver reportedly swerved to avoid a motorcycle approaching from the opposite direction that suddenly turned right.
Kluang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said they received a report at 4.04pm the same day from the 43-year-old house owner.
"Investigations revealed that at the time of the incident, the lorry was travelling from Mersing towards Kahang.
"Upon reaching the location, the driver tried to avoid a motorcycle that suddenly made a right turn.
"The lorry (driver) lost control, veered to the right, and crashed into an unoccupied house by the roadside," he said in a statement.
Following the crash, police detained the lorry driver for a urine test, but he was found to be free of any illegal substances.
The incident caused damage to the house's roof, ceiling, and kitchen wall.
The case is being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959.

KLUANG: A 20-year-old Interactive Media diploma student died after his motorcycle skidded at Km69.2 northbound on the North-South Expressway yesterday. The third-semester student at the Melaka International College of Science & Technology (MiCoST), Mohamad Danish Subaha, was confirmed dead at the scene due to severe injuries. The police received a report at 3.20pm. Bahrin said the body was taken to Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital for a post-mortem and would be handed over to the family for further action. "The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he added.
