Elon Musk announces Starlink's expansion into Saudi Arabia's aviation and maritime sectors.
Saudi Arabia has officially approved the use of Starlink, Elon Musk's satellite internet service, for deployment across aviation and maritime sectors. The announcement was made during the Saudi-US Investment Forum in Riyadh, coinciding with US President Donald Trump's visit to the Kingdom - his first trip to the Middle East during his second term.
Starlink, operated by Musk's aerospace company SpaceX, aims to provide high-speed internet connectivity, particularly in areas with limited infrastructure. The approval in Saudi Arabia marks a significant expansion of the service, which is already available in over 125 countries.
In addition to the Starlink announcement, Musk expressed intentions to introduce Tesla's self-driving cars - specifically his robotaxi service - to Saudi Arabia. The announcement builds on groundwork laid during LEAP 2024, the tech conference held annually in Riyadh. During the March edition, officials from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services confirmed that legislative frameworks for regulating self-driving cars were underway. The panel also discussed the integration of drones, AI, and smart sensors into transport systems.
These developments align with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, which emphasises the diversification of the economy through technological innovation and infrastructure development. The Kingdom has been actively pursuing advancements in transportation and digital connectivity as part of its broader economic transformation goals.

ROSHN, the PIF-backed real estate group, has opened sales for Aldanah, a large-scale residential project in Dhahran set to include over 2,000 homes and extensive green and community spaces. ROSHN Group has launched the first sales phase of Aldanah, a new residential development located near King Abdulaziz Road in Dhahran, with over 1,000 units now available. The offering includes a mix of standard and premium villas and duplexes, forming part of a broader plan to deliver more than 2,000 homes across the site. Spanning around 1.7 million square metres, Aldanah sits between Dammam, Dhahran, and Al Khobar, and is roughly 35 minutes from King Fahd International Airport. Egypt FM discusses efforts to de-escalate Israel-Iran conflict with Iranian counterpart in Istanbul - Foreign Affairs
Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty discussed the ongoing Israeli aggression on Iran and efforts to de-escalate the conflict between Tel-Aviv and Tehran with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi in Turkey on Saturday. The two top diplomats met in Istanbul during the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit. According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Minister Abdelatty reviewed with Araghchi intensive diplomatic efforts undertaken in recent days to de-escalate the conflict and achieve a ceasefire. Adelatty stressed to Araghchi the importance of pursuing diplomatic and political avenues to reach a sustainable agreement on Iran's nuclear program, to contain the escalating situation, and prevent further instability in the region. For his part, FM Aragchi shared the outcomes of his Friday talks in Geneva with the foreign ministers of the European Troika (the UK, France, and Germany) and the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, focusing on the Iranian nuclear issue. Both ministers agreed to maintain communication and continue consultations to resolve the crisis and safeguard regional security and stability. Meeting with Saudi counterpart Minister Abdelatty also met with his Saudi and Iraqi counterparts on the sidelines of the OIC summit. Minister Badr Abdelatty and Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, exchanged views on the consequences of the ongoing escalation between Israel and Iran. During the meeting, FM Abdelatty stressed the importance of intensified Arab consultation and coordination regarding the escalating military tensions between Israel and Iran and their grave implications for regional security and stability. He underscored the need to halt the escalation, return to negotiations, and pursue political and diplomatic solutions to prevent the region from descending into widespread chaos. The Egyptian FM also outlined Egypt's ongoing efforts to restore a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need. He noted that regional developments and challenges require greater cooperation and integration among Arab nations.
