Matildas hero Katrina Gorry ties the knot with Clara Markstedt in stunning ceremony on Hamilton Island
Katrina Gorry has become the second Matildas player in a week to say 'I do', marrying longtime partner Clara Markstedt on Hamilton Island.
The pair tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony on Saturday, just days after Matildas star Ellie Carpenter and fellow footballer Danielle van de Donk said their vows in France.
West Ham United Women posted a photo of Gorry and Markstedt at the alter, which was covered in seasonal flowers with the backdrop of the stunning Whitsundays.
'Congratulations to the most gorgeous newlyweds, Mini & Clara. We're not sobbing, you are,' West Ham wrote.
Gorry's daughter Harper was the flower girl for the ceremony.
Harper was born to Gorry as a solo mum just before the couple met in 2022 while playing football in Sweden.
Markstedt, who is Swedish, retired from a decorated football career in 2023, having played 275 games for four clubs across 14 years in Sweden's top-division league.
Markstedt gave birth to their son, Koby, in 2024, 12 months after their enagement.
Earlier, Carpenter was granted personal leave from the past Matildas window to prepare for her wedding.
'I choose you, I will always choose you,' Carpenter wrote alongside the two images.
Carpenter and van Donk wore traditional white dresses with Carpenter having a lengthy vail.
Carpenter and van de Donk met while playing for French side Olympique Lyonnais.
The Aussie gun joined the club in 2020 with the Dutch midfielder joining the following the year.
They began a couple in 2022 before announcing their engagement early last year.
Olympique Lyonnais continued their domination of the French league, winning their fourth straight title and 18th from the past 19 years.
Carpenter has been an influential player for the French side, playing 126 games since joining the club.
She is also a mainstay of the Matildas side, already racking up 87 senior appearances and going to three Olympics.

Aussie woman's shocking find in her Chinese takeaway
An Australian woman got more than she bargained for when she found an unsual item at the bottom of her Chinese takeaway. TikTokker Shraddha, or shraddyvibes, posted a video to the social media platform detailing the story of how she ended up getting $50 back from her meal from the bizarre find. After eating a portion of the meal, the Adelaide woman kept picking away at the stir fry until she noticed something was off. 'The container was feeling a little bit weird... at the bottom of the container was a working phone,' she explained. 'I pressed on the screen and it said the screen was (too hot), it was still working.' She had come away with a meal and a new phone from the takeaway, a bizarre find to say the least. After the gross realisation, she decided to get to the bottom of it and gave the restaurant a buzz. If you'd like to view this content, please adjust your . 'Apparently the chef put the phone down in the takeaway container, and because it was black... it just blended in with the container. 'Then someone else had grabbed the container and put the hotpot on top.' The TikTokker drove back to the establishment and was greeted by apologetic staff — and a cheeky refund. Credit: TikTok / shraddyvibes 'I paid $35 for the hotpot originally and they gave me $50 back, and the chef was also like 'let me know when you're here next time and I'll give you free hotpot,' she said. Luckily she lived close by to the restaurant and didn't need to heat up the food, otherwise it could of ended in a disaster. Despite the mishap, the woman elected not to name and shame the restaurant saying, 'mistakes happen'. Viewers also found humour in the incident. 'Dinner with a side of phone ! 😂,' one person commented. 'This has to be an original experience 🤣💯,' another wrote.

Mary Fowler on shortlist for Professional Footballers' Association Women's Player of the Year
Matildas star Mary Fowler is on the six-person shortlist for the Professional Footballers ' Association Women's Player of the Year award. Voted for by fellow professional players, Fowler was included, along with teammate Yui Hasegawa, following her most productive Women's Super League season to date for Manchester City. They are joined by Alessia Russo and Mariona Caldentey from European champions Arsenal, Erin Cuthbert from WSL champions Chelsea, and Manchester United goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce. Also in the running for the PFA Young Player of the Year gong, 22-year-old Fowler picked up six goals and seven assists in the campaign, and her two goal involvements in four successive WSL matches set a competition record in February. Despite having her season cut short by injury in April, the Matildas star was the only City player to reach double figures in goals and assists in all competitions. Japan international midfielder Hasegawa — who won City's Player of the Season award — completed the most dribbles in the WSL across the campaign and was involved in more shot-ending sequences than any other player in her position. She also won possession more times than any other player in the top flight across the season. Russo scored eight times in Arsenal's European success and was joint top scorer in the WSL with 12 goals. Her teammate Caldentey managed nine goals and five assists in the WSL and added eight more in the Champions League. The winner will be announced at the PFA Awards ceremony in Manchester on August 19.

The French institution where Marie-Louise and Paul learned irregular verbs – and fell in love
Generations of Melburnians have headed to Alliance Francaise to learn French – and in addition to encountering obscure idioms and irregular verbs, sometimes they've found l'amour. Just ask Marie-Louise and Paul Thornton-Smith, who first met in a French class in 1971 when they were 16. They are still together, and remain keen allies of 'the Alliance'. At first, it was about l'amitié (friendship) and studying together, but slowly, they fell in love. Their marriage in 1984 was followed by a 'tour of France' honeymoon, taking in Paris, Mont St-Michel, Provence and the Alps. This year, Marie-Louise, a retired secondary school French teacher, will top up her fluency at Alliance Francaise with a C1 advanced conversation class, where students might discuss Victor Hugo's poems or French current affairs. She and Paul also attend the Alliance's exhibitions, talks and film festivals. 'It's so lovely, isn't it?' says Myriam Boisbouvier-Wylie, president of the Alliance Francaise de Melbourne board, of the Thornton-Smiths' romance. 'They're not the only ones. I've heard of other people who have met through the Alliance.'
