Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen are married

AsiaOne02-06-2025

Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen have gotten married.
The 28-year-old actress and the Buffalo Bills quarterback were photographed walking down the aisle at a ceremony in California on Saturday (May 31).
The couple were initially linked romantically back in 2023 and went on to announce their engagement in an Instagram post last November — although the NFL star's proposal caught Hailee by surprise.
Asked if she suspected that Josh would pop the question, the Sinners star told Who What Wear: "Oh my god, no! You talk to your girlfriends about that, right, where you're like, 'I just don't want to know'."
She added about the proposal: "It was magical. That's the word."
Hailee was also delighted that Josh, 29, made sure that she was dressed appropriately for the occasion.
She said: "I'm so grateful that he did it the way he did so that I looked good, and we have these photos that we'll have to cherish for the rest of our lives that I'm not looking at being like, 'What was I wearing?'"
Josh recently described how he was really "proud" of Hailee following her starring role in the critically acclaimed horror movie Sinners.
He said: "I'm so excited for her and so proud of her.
"It's getting some great reviews and it's a fantastic movie, so go watch it."
The quarterback is one of the top players in the NFL and signed a six-year deal with the Buffalo Bills worth $330 million (S$425.2 million) in March but is happy to let his sporting talents take a backseat to Hailee's acting success.
Josh said: "I'm just there trying to support her in whatever way that I can.
"That was her moment and I'm so glad she got to shine."
Hailee had claimed in April that she was focusing on promoting Sinners — in which she plays the character Mary — before sorting out arrangements for her and Josh's wedding.
The Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse star told Extra: "We are in the middle of a press tour. We got a movie coming out in 12 days? Six, something. We're focused on that."
Steinfeld explained that she had learnt a lot about herself and her family during the making of the film, which is set in the south of the US during the 1930s.
She said: "I would say I learned a lot about my myself through Mary and even more about my family history … I had so many amazing conversations with my mom about her family and about her dad, my grandfather, who is half black, who I wish every day — because of this movie and for so many other reasons — I could call and ask him all the questions, and I would absolutely do that if he were here."

BTS member Suga discharged from South Korean military service

K-pop group BTS member Suga finished his military tenure as a social service agent on June 21. PHOTO: AGUSTD/INSTAGRAM SEOUL - K-pop group BTS member Suga was discharged from the South Korean military on June 21 , the seventh and final member to complete the country's mandatory national service amid expectations of the band's comeback from a hiatus. Suga finished his military tenure as a social service agent on June 21 with little fanfare as fans looked forward to his reunion with the rest of the band, a K-pop sensation since it started up in 2013. 'We confirm that Suga effectively completed his alternative service on June 18 by using his remaining leave. His official discharge date is June 21,' BTS' label, Big Hit Music, said in a statement. Unlike with his BTS bandmates, there was no public event planned to mark Suga's release because of overcrowding concerns. The seven members of the group put their global music careers on hold in 2022 to begin their military service, starting with Jin in December that year. South Korea's mandatory national service can be for terms of up to 18 months. Shortly after his official discharge, Suga posted a message on fan community platform Weverse, saying he was 'sorry for the disappointment and concern caused by what happened last year', and also apologising to his bandmates. In 2024, Suga was fined 15 million won (S$14,037) by a court for drunk driving while on an electric scooter. The group is expected to hold its largest-ever world tour in 2026, an NH Securities entertainment analyst said in a report. Entertainment group HYBE, which manages BTS, is closely monitored by securities companies. Details of a reunion have not been released. Venice divided ahead of billionaire Jeff Bezos' ‘wedding of the century'

Protesters making their displeasure clear over the upcoming wedding in Venice of US tech-tycoon Jeff Bezos and Laura Sanchez. PHOTO: REUTERS ROME - Venice is divided ahead of next week's celebrity wedding of US tech-tycoon Jeff Bezos and Laura Sanchez, with some looking forward to the glitz and glamour, while others fear it will turn the scenic city of gondolas and palazzi into an amusement park. Many details of the wedding are still under wraps - including the precise day it will happen - but it is certain that scores of stars from film, fashion and business will arrive to see Mr Bezos tie the knot - provided they can get past the protesters. One group has plastered banners on the city's famous Rialto Bridge reading 'No space for Bezos!' and threatened peaceful blockades, complaining that the medieval and Renaissance city needs public services and housing, not celebrities and over-tourism. 'Bezos arrogantly believes he can take over the city and turn it into his own private party venue,' said Mr Tommaso Cacciari, a leading light of the 'No space for Bezos' campaign. Mayor Luigi Brugnaro and regional governor Luca Zaia, on the other hand, argue that the wedding will bring an economic windfall to local businesses, including the motor boats and gondolas that operate its myriad canals. Eleven years ago, actor George Clooney married human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin in Venice, turning the city into Hollywood on the Adriatic with a weekend of lavish celebrations. Then, locals and tourists alike were excited to witness a memorable moment in the city's long history of hosting stars for its film festival, the world's oldest. Mr Bezos, 61, the founder of e-commerce giant Amazon and the world's third-richest man, got engaged to journalist Sanchez, 55, in 2023, four years after the collapse of his 25-year marriage to Mackenzie Scott. After a swirl of media speculation about the venue of what has been dubbed 'the wedding of the century' Mayor Brugnaro confirmed in March that it would take place in Venice, which in 2024 began charging tourists a fee to enter the city. PHOTO: REUTERS The date is expected to be some time between June 23-28 in the midst of three days of stylish celebrations. In the face of early protests from residents who feared the arrival of thousands of celebrities and hangers-on, the city issued a statement clarifying that it would involve around 200 guests and would not disrupt Venetians' everyday life. Mr Bezos and Ms Scott had four children together, while Ms Sanchez was previously married to Hollywood agent Patrick Whitesell, with whom she has two children. She also has a son with NFL tight end Tony Gonzalez. REUTERS Join ST's Telegram channel and get the latest breaking news delivered to you.

Sinner and singer Bocelli strike up partnership for new single

Jun 8, 2025; Paris, FR; Jannik Sinner of Italy returns a shot during the men's singles final against Carlos Alcaraz of Spain on day 15 at Roland Garros Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Susan Mullane-Imagn Images/File Photo REUTERS Sinner and singer Bocelli strike up partnership for new single World number one Jannik Sinner has formed a new doubles partnership but the duo will be battling for chart success rather than Grand Slam titles after the Italian released a single with compatriot and opera tenor Andrea Bocelli on Friday. The three-time Grand Slam champion Sinner promoted the song titled 'Polvere e Gloria' or 'Dust and Glory' on Instagram. The video features footage from the pair's childhoods and more recent clips of the singer and Sinner, clutching a racket and tennis ball, in front of a piano in Bocelli's home in Tuscany. Sinner's speeches form part of the song, which is in Italian and English, with Bocelli in full flow. "Every life is a potential work of art: each of us bears the sweet responsibility of nurturing our talents in the daily acrobatics of living, pursuing our dreams while remaining steadfastly true to our values," the pair wrote on Instagram. "This duet is such a bold leap that it has ignited our passion, born of shared and unwavering desire to express our deep belief that nothing is impossible." Sinner, the U.S. Open and Australian Open champion, said he was honoured to be part of the project with Bocelli, describing the singer as a "unique and extraordinary voice" and "a flag for our country in the rest of the world". "I could never have imagined hearing my voice in one of his songs. It's extremely moving," the 23-year-old added. Sinner, who was beaten by Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in an epic French Open final earlier this month, lost in the last 16 of the Halle Open on Thursday in a blow to his preparations for Wimbledon which gets underway on June 30.
