
Odisha CM pays tribute to victim of Pahalgam attack, announces assistance
Bhubaneswar, Apr 24 (UNI) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday announced financial assistance of Rs 20 lakh for the family of Prashant Satpathy, who was killed in the terrorist attack at Pahalgam on April 22.
The Chief Minister visited Ishani village in Balasore district to pay tribute to the departed soul and offered condolences to the bereaved family.
Majhi also announced a government job for Prashant Satpathy's widow and assured her of full support for the education of their nine-year-old son.
Prashant, who was working as an accountant at the Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology (CIPET) in Bampada, was on a holiday trip to Jammu & Kashmir with his wife and son when he was killed by terrorists on Tuesday, along with 27 others.
Majhi condemned the attack as "cowardly" and expressed solidarity with the family, reaffirming the state government's commitment to support them during this difficult time.
He strongly denounced the terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, located in South Kashmir's Anantnag district, describing it as a most heinous and barbaric act.

Army Chief reviews security, preparedness for Amarnath Yatra
Srinagar, June 22 (UNI) Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi reviewed the security grid in Kashmir and assessed preparedness for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, Army said on Sunday. During his visit, the Army Chief was briefed on the prevailing security scenario, operational dynamics, and broader strategic landscape in the region. A demonstration was also held on the integration of advanced technologies to enhance surveillance, decision-making, and response capabilities. Army's Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI)in a post on X said COAS, reviewed the security grid in the Kashmir region and assessed preparedness for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra 2025. 'He was briefed on the current operational dynamics and the broader strategic landscape including a demonstration on integration of advanced technologies in operations, leading to smarter decisions, enhanced surveillance and response mechanisms,' ADGPI said. The COAS lauded all ranks of Srinagar based Chinar Corps for their unwavering commitment in ensuring peace and stability through decisive counter-terror operations and initiatives aimed at development of the region & upliftment of local population. The annual Amarnath Yatra is set to begin on July 3 and conclude on August 8. Securing the pilgrimage is regarded as one of the Valley's most extensive security exercises. This year's yatra, significantly shorter than last year's 52-day schedule, comes in the backdrop of the April 22 terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 25 tourists and a local resident. Amar Veerula Stupa to be tourist destination
Khanapur: The government has sanctioned Rs 1 crore to develop the Amar Veerula Stupa as a tourist destination and the work has almost reached the final stage. 'The memorial garden will be opened soon,' said Khanapur constituency MLA Vedma Bojju Patel. On Saturday, he paid homage to the Amar Veerula Stupa in the Indravelli mandal centre. Later, saplings were planted as part of a programme organised under the auspices of Horticulture. The development work being done at the stupa was inspected. Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said, 'As per the promise made by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the government is making special efforts to beautify the Martyrs' Stupa.' He said that the families of the martyrs have been provided with house plot documents. He said that he will talk to the CM to further develop the Stupa.
