Family speaks out after death of infant in Huntsville
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The family of a baby who died last Wednesday is continuing to deal with unimaginable heartbreak in Huntsville.
Family members say this tragedy actually could have been avoided. According to family members, Madison Posey was just two weeks away from regaining custody of her twin daughters.
Posey gave birth to the twins in February but tested positive for CBD at the hospital.The Department of Human Resources placed the newborn girls in the custody of their father, Victavious Dennis.
Family members say that the decision by the Madison County Department of Human Resources contributed to four-month-old Kyla's death.

Posey said that the positive test for CBD came after her doctor recommended she consume it while pregnant.
When they were born, her twins tested negative for everything.
Posey says she visited her daughters on Sunday, June 8, only to find baby Kyla crying. When she picked her up, she says Kyla took two labored breaths and her arms were limp.
She immediately contacted 911, but what happened next left this family confused and distraught.
After baby Kyla arrived at the hospital by ambulance, staff members at the hospital contacted Huntsville police.
Baby Kyla was diagnosed with brain trauma, a brain bleed, a broken collarbone, broken ribs and a liver injury. Kyla died on Wednesday, June 11.

Her father, Victavious Dennis, is now charged with murder in addition to aggravated child abuse. A Madison County Judge set his bond at $1 million following an Aniah's Law hearing.
Investigators told News 19 that Dennis was alone with Kyla at home when her injuries happened.However, Dennis says, she fell the night before while he was giving her a bath, and hit her head, but the hospital staff says Kyla had other injuries in the healing stage.
Dennis is being held in the Madison County jail on a one-million-dollar bond.And now, Posey's 2-year-old son and baby Kylie, the surviving twin, are in foster care.

Memorial Day weekend shooting leaves 11 injured near North Myrtle Beach as police hunt suspects
South Carolina authorities continue to search for the suspect or suspects who carried out a mass shooting that left 11 people injured on Sunday evening in Little River, near North Myrtle Beach. The Horry County Police Department described the shooting as an isolated incident stemming from an altercation on a charter boat during a private Memorial Day gathering. There were about 124 people onboard the boat, including four crew members, when the shooting occurred, Horry County police said during a Tuesday press conference. Three victims are still hospitalized while eight have been released, authorities said during the press conference. "This type of violence will not be tolerated in Horry County," HCPD Chief Kris Leonhardt said. "We are going to do our very best to investigate this case and bring criminal charges against these folks that have caused this incident here in our county." Horry County Fire Department Chief Joseph Tanner said authorities initially got a call around 9:15 p.m. reporting an injury and responded accordingly. Upon arrival, officials located multiple gunshot-wounded victims. The charter boat party attendees were from out of town, Leonhardt said, making it more difficult to track down witnesses. A total of 10 victims sustained gunshot wounds and another person reported an unknown injury not related to gunfire, the police department said in a Monday press release. Some victims were recovered from the water, the North Myrtle Beach Police Department (NMBPD) said in a separate press release. "Of those, the worst of the injured are in critical but stable condition at area hospitals," Horry County police said in a press release. Videos and photos posted to social media on Sunday evening showed a heavy police presence in the area of the Dolphin Cruise parking lot in Little River, located north of North Myrtle Beach. NMBPD also said the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating a separate incident involving a responding North Myrtle Beach officer who was injured with his own firearm near the Harbourgate Marina in North Myrtle Beach. "A NMBPD Officer was entering a gate to the dock when his rifle discharged twice, with one of the rounds striking his leg," the department said in its press release. "At the time of the discharge, the Officer had both of his hands on the gate, which was confirmed by later video evidence. Due to the Officer not attempting to utilize his weapon at the time, all Officers on scene believed that shots were being fired from the marina area." The officer was transported to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery for his injuries. Video footage obtained from a witness apparently shows the incident, and authorities determined that "the discharge was from the wounded Officer's rifle," and the scene was released to SLED. Horry County police said the shooting remains under investigation, and "there is currently no associated risk to the community." Crime concerns in and around Myrtle Beach have been heightened since April 26, when a shooting in the Myrtle Beach entertainment district left the shooter dead and 11 victims injured. Myrtle Beach officials described the shooting as an isolated incident at the time. At least 1 dead, 10 shot during South Carolina Juneteenth event near veterans' center
Nearly a dozen people were shot Saturday night near a South Carolina veterans' center during a "Juneteenth celebration." The Anderson County Sheriff's Office confirmed at least 10 people were shot, and one person is dead after a fight in the parking lot of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars post. Man accused of attempted murder after allegedly firing on deputies in Victorville
A man was arrested after allegedly opening fire on sheriff's deputies in Victorville early Saturday, according to law enforcement officials. The shooting took place about 2 a.m. Saturday at a multi-unit commercial building in the 13800 block of Amargosa Road, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department officials and county records. Deputies responded to the building in response to "multiple wireless 911 calls," the sheriff's department said in a written statement. The agency said deputies then arrived to perform a "welfare check in response to a possible emergency." No further information regarding the nature of the 911 calls was released. "Without provocation, [the suspect] used a firearm to fire multiple rounds at the responding deputies," the statement said. "Additional resources arrived, and Gomez was taken into custody without further incident." No deputies were struck by the gunfire, officials said. David Morales Gomez, 31, of Victorville was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, shooting at an inhabited dwelling or vehicle and assault with a firearm, records show.
