Meanwhile, Verbruggen has caught attention for his performances in England, although Brighton won't let him leave easily. His contract runs until 2028, meaning any potential deal would also come with a high price tag.
Unless Barça are willing to trust someone from their academy, a serious investment in a new goalkeeper is unavoidable.

Ten per cent of all proceeds from jerseys bearing his name also goes to help fund the club's youth system. 'Thankfully, I've had a successful career, so the last thing I wanted was to be a weight on my club,' Cazorla said. Dortmund beats Mamelodi Sundowns 4-3 in blistering hot Club World Cup group stage match
CINCINNATI -- Borussia Dortmund was gifted an easy goal at the beginning of the match and held off a late response from the Mamelodi Sundowns on a fiercely warm day to win 4-3 in the Club World Cup group stage on Saturday. Both teams and the crowd of 14,006 at TQL Stadium sweat through high temperatures that forced a heat advisory and cooling breaks, called at the referee's discretion. Bellingham scores first Dortmund goal as Reyna sits again
As Gio Reyna failed to see the field again for Borussia Dortmund, Jobe Bellingham scored his first goal for the club in their narrow 4-3 win against Mamelodi Sundowns FC on Saturday at the FIFA Club World Cup. Bellingham, who arrived this summer from recently promoted Sunderland, was able to notch the third goal for the Black and Yellow in their matchup against the South African side. "The goal is a nice bonus," the 19-year-old told DAZN after being named man of the match. "I'm happy that we won, but there are still many things to improve, both for me personally and for the team."
