), South East Central Railway (SECR), Nagpur division, organised a family and safety seminar at Gunjan auditorium recently.The event, attended by nearly 200 participants, including departmental officers, running staff, loco pilots, assistant loco pilots, and their families, aimed to promote safe railway operations and provide counselling to ensure stress-free and alert duty performance.The seminar, held under the leadership of divisional railway manager (DRM) Deepak Kumar Gupta and guided by senior divisional electrical engineer (operations) Wasim Siddiqui, emphasised the critical role of a supportive home environment in enhancing mental well-being of railway staff.DRM Gupta underscored the importance of family involvement in helping loco pilots and assistant loco pilots maintain focus during their duties.
He urged families to foster a conducive atmosphere at home, ensuring adequate rest and mental peace for the staff. Gupta also advised the staff to balance household responsibilities and social obligations effectively to reduce stress.Siddiqui further reinforced the need for a calm and supportive home environment, enabling loco pilots and assistant loco pilots to perform their duties with utmost concentration. Home secretary Mandip Brar emphasized the importance of proactive preparedness, saying, "What truly defines a city is not just how it responds to a disaster, but how prepared it is before the disaster strikes." Kataria urged citizens to embrace the spirit of responsibility, resilience, and readiness, encouraging enthusiastic participation and execution of duties when needed. Volunteers took a solemn pledge, echoing the civil defence motto: "Working for the benefit of all." Among the many inspired citizens is Monika Thakur, a resident of Sector 20, who discovered the programme through Instagram. 'Thought Pakistan fired missile': Students feared attack when Air India flight crashed into BJ Medical College hostel

'Air India Plane Crash: The tragic crash of Air India Flight 171 on June 12, 2025, not only claimed 241 lives but also revived deep-seated fears among medical students at BJ Medical College, who initially believed the devastating impact on their hostel was the result of a missile attack from Pakistan. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, bound for London Gatwick, lost altitude moments after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, crashing into the residential quarters of BJ Medical College doctors in the Meghani Nagar area. The crash caused a massive explosion and thick black smoke to billow skywards, killing 241 people on board and more than two dozen on the ground, including nine doctors. Among the survivors at BJ Medical College was Keshav Bhadana, a second-year MBBS student from Faridabad, who recounted to NDTV the harrowing moments when the walls of the medical college hostel began to crumble. 'It was lunch time. At around 1.30 pm, I was eating with my friends at the mess when suddenly, the walls began to collapse and the ceiling began to fall. At first, it seemed like a dust storm. We then thought it must have been an earthquake,' he said. Bhadana's initial reaction was shaped by the tense geopolitical climate between India and Pakistan. There was black smoke everywhere, so nothing was visible. Suddenly, the cylinders in the mess started exploding,' he said. 'Many people had stopped showing signs of any movement. Maybe they had died. We came out with great difficulty.' This fear of a missile strike was not unfounded given the recent escalation in tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad. The crash occurred against the backdrop of Operation Sindoor. The 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 civilians including tourists were killed by militants, significantly escalated tensions between India and Pakistan. DRM Prayagraj division inspects DFCCIL operation control centre

Prayagraj: Newly appointed divisional railway manager (DRM) of Prayagraj Division Rajneesh Aggarwal conducted an extensive inspection of the Operation Control Centre (OCC) of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor on Wednesday. His visit emphasised the division's commitment to harnessing advanced technology for safer and more efficient train operations. ADRM (Infrastructure) and senior divisional operations manager (coordination) along with other officials accompanied him. The DRM reviewed train reception procedures at key locations like New Sonnagar, New Chirailapauthu, and New Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction and engaged with teams from Eastern Central Railway, North Central Railway, Northern Railway, and the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor. "We are on a path of progress, and it is essential to focus on our loading goals to support the growing demand for rail transport," said Aggarwal, while highlighting the importance of the Dedicated Freight Corridor in achieving load targets. He pointed out specific challenges in the Dhanbad division and advocated for improved planning and infrastructure. The DRM also discussed the proposed connection between New Dagmagpur station and the Chopan area via Vishwanathpuri, underlining the need for surface crossings to reduce traffic disruptions. He praised the work of Controllers at the OCC and expressed satisfaction with performance systems like the Hot Axle Box Detector, Machine Vision Inspection System, and Wheel Impact Load Detector .
